Only time will tell, it is very very very early, like 8 months away. The Panthers will return 7 players on defense with substaintial playoff experience and 8 starters on offense, they will be loaded there. Throw in Sophomores, DT Jarmarcus McFarland 6'4" 260, DE Terrance Ivy 6'2" 240 lbs and converted RB to LB Jr. Ferris Evans 5'11" 215 from the JV and the Pack should have another stout defense in 2006. DC Todd Quick is one of the best in the State and puts a top defensive unit on the field every year for Lufkin.
Defensive returnees for Lufkin.
DB - Danquon Landry, Joe Jackson and Darrius Terry
LB - Cam Davis and A.J. Penson
DL - Randall Murphy and Brendan McKelvey

Hot?
This is why we need our own adjective people.

The Pack D will be fairly crunk next year (lame, but better than hot). I think the primary advantages you'll see next year will be more muscle up front - at the expense of a slightly slower D overall. Penson and Joe Jackson have solid shots at all-state - moreso Penson. Davis actually ended up bumping out a senior in the po's at linebacker - pretty tough to do in Lufkin - he is nasty.
The primary weakness for the D last year was an unexplainably weak secondary on pass coverage. If that area does not improve - Lufkin will again give up big plays and often to teams that can pass such as SLC, Hays Cons. and HHeights.

The Pack will need to fill a lot of big holes........but I still think that they have enough talent to be very good.

I wouldn't be surprised if your Krunken Pack Attack is the pre-season favorite.
Either #1 or #2. At least in the top 5 Statewide.
