That was not an impressive Utah team...further proof is the fact that Trinity lost 2 straight games to 2 Texas teams at home.

I watched the game myself as well and they strugled against a Trinity team who then lost their next 2 games on their own home field. They would be a middle of the pack team here in Texas.

Madison wouldn't have that problem if they'd play someone from outside of San Antonio. I know that's not always in the control of a program, but that's what makes some teams hard to slot in the rankings. If Abilene hadn't just played Tyler Lee, we wouldn't have a great read on them either.

Talent wise, I know Madison has a strong class but we won't know exactly how that stacks up until the state semis (if they get there). I can't see them not getting there with the talent they have.

This is what I've been saying all season. Come through 265a undefeated and the polls will reflect it. It's not that I don't think Madison can beat some of the teams in the top 10 right now. I just think that no one can judge how well we'd do against those teams without us going around the state to play some of the higher tier playoff teams.

Even if we did, it would be no indication - win or lose- of how we'd play those teams come playoff time.

All that being said, there is no way RRSP deserves the #1 slot. Beating 4a teams in pre-district play does not warrant a #1 ranking no matter how well they did against them. For the same logic that keeps Madison out of the top 10, Stony Point should not get in without hesitation for beating teams that do not reflect how well they would do come playoff time.

Hightower will never advance much higher because our coach is a class act and does feel that he needs to run the score up on a team and completely humiliate them. Hightower will make their mark in the playoffs again.

That is certainly debatable. The rankings are playing themselves out.

What I would submit is that you have to look into the results a little deeper. Allen played Longview on the road in the first game of the year. DFW teams usually do not make trips like that. We gave Allen credit for playing a tough game. Lufkin, and just about every other 5A team in our estimation, would not be immune to a loss at Lobo this year.

Lufkin is no stranger to East Texas football, and Longview in particular, so there was a built-in advantage in the match-up that Allen did not have (in addition to the fact Allen played away from home).

Trinity's losses were close games against two top opponents. There aren't many teams in the state this year (if any) that would come out of those two games with anything to show for it.

Hightower fans are not upset, just make way when the playoffs start. The only difference between this year and last year is a storm. I said this after week two that we would not be back in the top 10 until week 7 or 8. Keep them falling and under the radar.

On defense is where the difference is...you can't score on them..they have given up one defensive td all season and you still think they stink....you slapped them in the face with your ranking..and that's cool...message board material thats all...you won't see us in the state semi's you will see us in the state finals this year and we want some of 1-2 trinity..cause thats where you think they will be...come get some of the blazing speed...Longhorn3 out!!!!!!!

Agreed. Stony Point is not flash in the pan. But we can debate close to playing for state with closer to playing for state all we want. I have no doubts that Stony Point will be a strong team this year and rumble undefeated through district. However, facing Georgetown, Leander, and Cedar Park doesn't give a clear picture of how RRSP will do in the playoffs either.

What I'm saying is that, by that logic, RRSP doesn't deserve the #1 spot in the state. At least give it to Chill who has proved themselves by playing constant contenders.

I'm curious what the "football reasons" are that you mentioned. Is it athletes? Strength of schedule? Coaching? Or is is past performance? I'll admit with the teams we play, limited to our area, Madison is difficult to rank. BUT, so are some of the other teams in the top 10.

BTW, I think Madison being ranked 15th is just about right.

Cedar Hill was getting all this credit for a case of the #1 spot after beating Trinity at Trinity. Then SLC beats an 0-4 team by 30 points and Cedar Hill gives up points on special teams and one interceptionto a 2-2 team, this merits a drop to #3? Bad games happen against scrappy teams, which is what Martin is, scrappy...what happened to the tough schedule talk? We still got the W so i don't see why we should move down...mainly i don't like SLC ranked ahead of us when we both win, especially when we played a tougher opponent.

Allen is too highly ranked, IMO. I need more good games before I see them top 5 again, nothing has impressed me about their play. Close game to Longview, then they nearly coughed it up against Mexico Tech and only 38-10 over a 4A Rockwall??? I have them around Katy.

I agree with moving SLC to 2, and if they handle NS like I think they will, they have a strong case for #1.

Madison should be higher, or at least stop being bumped down for other teams. It seems like they're last to get put in and are just put where there's a slot for them...

Lufkin should be higher or Allen should be lower or both.I really think it depends on how good Allen is. Trinity could easily have beaten Allen. However, Cedar Hill is a different animal. Allen andTrinity may well meet again. That game will be a tossup. But again, how good is Allen?

Trinity has lost to two teams that were ranked ahead of them. Does that mean that they are not better than the teams below them? I think Trinity needs to be out of the top 10 based on the two losses. How far depends on where there are teams that would not beat them are. They would be tops in Utah, but here in Texas at this point in the season they are 12 or 13 at best at this moment in time. A lot of season left to improve.

I get upset because their are three guys dedicating a lot of their time for FREE to provide all of this information to us. 1) Wake up at 4:00 on Monday mornings just to see where your team is ranked.
2) Get suspended from work (if employed) for spending too much time on internet (discussing why your team dropped in top 25).

I just wanted to discuss a comparison with someone who had seen both. Sorry you haven't been impressed, that of course is the goal of the Carroll Dragons, to impress you. :rolleyes:

To be serious, CHILL has proven they have what it takes to be #1 by winning against their schedule. I don't know much about RRSP right now, haven't seen any games, but realistically I would put CHILL and RRSP probably #1 and #2, you pick the order, with SLC somewhere below.

Cedar Hill has both a strength and a weakness. The weakness is they can get behind BIG against teams, we have seen it numerous times in this and last season. The strength is, they can come back from being down like that. Eventually though, that will get you. You have to go out and 'kill the will'. I saw the team and Coach on the Sunday High special. Was very impressed with all of them, and with what they were saying. He is an excellent coach and with that talent, you are the real deal.

SLC has done everything it could with the teams it has played. As pointed out, Arlington was supposed to be a top 10 DFW team and we toasted them. I still think this upcoming game is a telling one. If we win and win convincingly, we are most assuredly in the race for the #1 ranking.

But seriously, I don't care if we are or aren't. I just want us to keep winning and win the 16th one. Perhaps our two teams will meet again in the playoffs. That would be a great game. I look forward to us beating you. ;)
