From another website, it appears there may be some truth to the rumors...
That friend would be me and I just got conformation at the Evangel Football banquet tonight..
Clean you better sit down for this!!!
As struggle posted I started that rumor on this website about SLC vs ECA in October when talks began..But now paragom media got involved and its pretty much a done deal....
Heres what I I heard tonight from the big mans mouth!!
Hoover..SLC and Texas High for the first 3 games of the year in 06.
The best is yet to come..No backing down or going away for Evangel.
As far as going to Dallas to play SLC..not 100% sure where it will be played but it will be played on National T.V..They are working out the details..Let you know more when I know where.

Well we will find out next week if this is true or not, but it would be an August or early September game on either a Thursday or Saturday if the game will be televised. I just hope that the game is scheduled at night, the afternoon game against Lee last year was brutal for fans and players alike.

Next week is just for district alignment not football schedules

This game is going to happen. It will be a Dragon Stadium. The Coppell Cowboys will not be on our non-district schedule. They have pulled out of our game. The Dragons are currently looking for a 3rd non-district game for this reason. Everyone I've spoke with REALLY hopes that Sloppell is in our district.
Seems that is hard to schedule non-district games with our recent history.

What a waste of time NOW! This is surprising! They were once a great team but no more. Look at Evangel's results vs Texas teams last year and tell me how ugly this one is going to be if it happens.

I really want to play Coppell. I look forward to that game every year. I mean Carroll almost always wins that matchup, but the game, although not recently, is always tough. The rivalry is important and I am sure that the kids at Coppell will be dissapointed. I hope that Grapevine is not scared of Carroll, because if they are not in the same district I would like to play them in non-district.
Also, do you know if Carroll has to go to Shreveport the next year. I don't want to do that. It would not bother me if this was a one time deal and a different out of state power was schedule to come to Southlake in their place next year. That is how I feel about out of state games, they should come to us if they want to play us.

Can't argue with on this one. Seems that we are having trouble getting a schedule done. I know a ton are people are upset at Coppell about pulling out. From what I understand, this is a one game only deal.

Southlake will destroy them if this does indeed happen. Big drop off at Evangel lately.

From what I hear though Evangel returns a bunch of people, while Carroll will just be starting to work out the kinks of an entirely new starting lineup including an entirely new offensive line.

With respect to EC, the game is set for Dragon Stadium this coming season and there is no obligation for the Dragons to head over to their place in 2007. However, I , for one, would not object to heading over to LA to watch the Dragons. Of course, I would pretty much follow them anywhere to yell for them. I disagree that folks must come to Carroll rather than our going to them. But clearly, I prefer that opponents come to Dragon Stadium.
With respect to Coppel,it is most unfortunate that the cowboys have refused to play Carroll as a non-district opponent. The two schools are each others longest running rivals, stretching back some 40 years. While it is true that the Dragons hold somethin like a 36-4 record relative to cowboys in football, some of the games have been really exciting. Too bad that coppell refuses to continue the series.

was there some reason other than Carroll beat them bad the last 4 years to cancel the series? I mean like an off the field incident or violence that would have prevented the series to continue. I looked forward to this game fevery year, and two of their wins came pretty recently(1999, 2001). The one in 1999 was for a playoff spot and they won at old Dragon Stadium. What coach of a good team would not want to play this game? I am sure that the players at both Carroll and Coppell will be dissapointed if this game is not on the schedule for the next two seasons. I know as a fan I was dissapointed when Grapevine was not on the schedule in 2002 and 2003.

I forgot about the band. You still had to sit really close to each though and hold those instruments didn't you? That day was brutal, it really lets you know how hard the players work as they practiced at that same time during the year. It also let you know how hard the band works, because they practice during the same time too.

band practice in the summer is easy..i mean for me it is..because im in good shape and all that stuff..while most band kids are not as athletic and what not..but even if you were in shape...that day it was hot dont get me wrong..but i drank water like crazy so i wasnt dying, but still a brutal day..imagine what it was like on that field YIKES! plus when we left it started to rain that pissed me off

I am the one who was quoted on another website to start this thread.
I broadcast the games on a Clear Channel Radio station for ECA.
I am here with facts and stats on ECA.
ECA is losing 21 out of 60 players 10 lineman (4 D-1 lineman), 2 great recievers, 2 D-1 DB one D-1 SS.
Return 16 juniors,12 sophmores,,12 fresh,???8th graders
I would say that ECA also has a rebuilding year and will have some of their best teams ever in 07-08.
Really looking forward to broadcasting from Dragon stadium in Southlake, I have heard the facilities are second to none...Last time we broadcast in that area was Texas Stadium facing Abilene in one of the best games of the year losing in the last 5 min of the game in 04.
How many does the stadium hold?
I am glad the teams will be playing under Texas rules...The defense being able to jump into the neutral zone and being able to run out of the endzone on kickoffs to name a few.

8th graders!? That's kind of weird. Over here it's rare enough just to find freshman playing on the varsity level.
Anyways to answer your question I think Dragon Stadium holds around 7500.

3 of our biggest stars were 2 fresh and 1 soph..both fresh played in the varsity games as an 8th grader last year and started this year.

actually Dragon Stadium now holds close to 9,000 because the former dallas burn installed some bleachers when they used to play there.

Well dont feel so bad; ECA cancelled their game with us this past season. Never heard a good reason for it...the perception here was because we they didnt want another loss. Regardless of the reason, after what West Monroe did to Lee, LA teams keeping their promises doesnt mean much out here.

I think there is a reason to worry. If Evangel is returning this many stud returners think of the possiblities? I mean these Evangel studs only lost 52-14 to 1st round 5a loser Longview (Both Evangel scores were on kickoff returns) and they only lost to 4a Texarkana 45-10. It would be scary if they have so many returners from such a stacked team. God help us all.

LOL, ECA had "studs" in LA 1A!!!...NOT in Texas 5A. Longview is probably the only team they played regularly that owned them. Yes, a few games were close, but they still only be Longview ONCE. I'd love to watch SLC demolish the cheapshot artists. IF SLC does play them, watch out for their grabbing, kicking, spitting, etc. They are bad about that, especially when things aren't going their way. They'll say they're "Christians" then flip you the bird....the fans will. ECA won the 1A LA state title, woopee. I am glad to see Longview finally took them off the schedule. It was fun beating them, but it got old. Before long, it might be hard for ECA to find opponents outside of LA. I'd much rather play West Monroe than ECA.
Rockin Rick, you always make me laugh...such a homer. But, then again I guess we all are in some respects. But, the ECA fans REALLY take the cake, most of the posters I've seen anyway.

actually Dragon Stadium now holds close to 9,000 because the former dallas burn installed some bleachers when they used to play there.
The visitor stands had 400 additional seats added by the then Dallas Burn. In addition, the end zone bleachers seat about 2000. Temporay stands can be accomodated on the visitor side in the grassy areas and by the score board. Thus the capacity of Dragon Stadium is about 11,000, although some of that is standing room only.

Might be a combination of both Rick. And, the game was "cancelled" probably because the recent 2 year contract was up. We won't know how many non-district games we'll have until tomorrow when realignment comes out. I've hear rumors of 12-5A getting upwards of 9 or 10 teams possibly. I think that'd be insane, but whatever the UIL decides to do. IF that were the case, that would give us 1, maybe 2 ND games if I'm correct? As it is we only have room for 4 non-district games. I liked the ECA rivalry, don't get me wrong, but it was time for it to end I think. Move on and play other opponents.
