Here we go. Last predistrict game.

Coppell Mansfield Summitt

Flower Mound Desoto

FM Marcus Tyler Lee

Lewisville Tyler JT

Hebron Abilene Cooper

Southlake North Shore

My head tells me that it could be a long night for my Jags (a learning experience for my young guys) against DeSoto but I am waiting to make a predictions. I want to know about the bumps and bruises from last Friday night before I say anything.

Here we go. Last predistrict game.

Coppell Mansfield Summit
Yes, Coppell is on fire, stole the Hebron Defense....
Flower Mound Desoto
Sorry, DeSoto has too much right now...
FM MarcusJohn Tyler
Gotta pick Marcus, but they better get that secondary in order, and learn to cover a sweep
Lewisville Tyler JT
Sure, growing all the time
Hebron Abilene Cooper
Hebron is a work in progress, youth a bigger factor than originally thought, as well as coaching changes...
Southlake North Shore
This is going to be huge......but I think we pull it out. We MUST anticipate the speed of their secondary and use it to our advantage.

My 2 cents...

FMJags490

Coppell over Summit by at least 2 TD's.
DeSoto over Flower Mound by at least 3 TD's.
Cooper over Hebron by a TD.
John Tyler over Lewisville by 4 TD's.
Carroll over North Shore by 2 TD's.
Marcus over Tyler Lee by a TD.

Coppell should handle Summit fairly easily. Cowboys by 24.
Desoto over Flo Mo, but closer than most give the Jags credit for. I say a 10 point game.
Carroll beats North Shore in a good one, 7 point win for the Dragons.
Marcus over Tyler Lee by 2 TD's. Home field and a hunger for redemption carry the Marauders.
Hebron beats Cooper by 10. This is their last chance to polish up before district. They'll be ready.

As for Lewisville @ John Tyler, I'm not about to pick against a team I play for, so I'll take us by a touchdown. The keys to the game are a getting off to a stong start (like we did last week) and us five up front. If we can give Deandre, Brandt, or whoever's back there a decent amount of time, I have confidence in our offense to be able to move the ball and put some points up. Plus if it's Deandre that plays at QB, his ability to run the ball adds another whole new dimension to our offense. I know JT has an explosive offense, and I'm expecting them to get their points & yards. But if our defense can get a few stops, and our offensive line comes ready to play, I know we can pull it off. We have our work cut out for us though, this is a very good team we're playing.

Coppell over Mansfield Summit- Cowboys send the Jaguars to 1-3 on the year, but with a bye week for the Jags, they give the Cowboys a good game.......for a qtr. Coppell by 14.

Desoto over Flower Mound- The Eagles are damn good and have played some good teams thus far. FM has had some close games with mediocre teams. Desoto by 21.

Marcus over Tyler Lee- Marcus is playing well despite the 10 point loss to Katy. Lee had a good game against Abilene, but Marcus hands them their 4 straight loss to open the '09 season. Marcus by 14.

Cooper over Hebron- Something is off for the Hawks and Cooper is a very good 4A team who just let a good Garland team back in the game Friday night. Cooper comes to the Woodshed and gives the Hawks their 3rd loss of the season. Cooper by 10.

John Tyler over Lewisville- The Lions are just far to good right now for the Farmers to keep up with them, especially at home. John Tyler by 21.

Carroll over North Shore- Both teams are very good, but this Dragon team is on a mission and though this will be close for a half, Carroll comes out in the 3rd qtr and pulls away slightly. Carroll by 10.

Carroll/North Shore ought to be a great game. I don't think the Hawks can fix their defensive issues in one week so we can probably expect Cooper to score 30-34. The question is can the Hawks offense keep up?

Coppell vs. Mansfield Summitt, Cowboys +14 Coppell is playing too good right now, as I said in the Coppell Summitt thread, if Coppell focuses on this week and the Dragons in two they roll big...again

Flower Mound vs. Desoto, Desoto +7 Sorry Jags, I think the Desoto is too big and too good right now to be beat by y'all I would prob pick them against Coppell right now.

FM Marcus vs John Tyler, Marcus +7 Marcus rebounds this week against John Tyler.

Lewisville vs.Tyler JT, Farmers -7, I'm loving Farmer football right now, I have them at 5th in the district right now.

Hebron vs Abilene Cooper, Abilene Cooper +14, I dont know whats up with the Hawks right now, I want them to win I just dont see it happening.

Southlake vs North Shore, Dragons win +14, gotta hope for that 5-0 65A Match up.

There are some attractive games this week, but keep in mind these are pre-district games. As good as these games are, I would argue that none of them are as important as every game after this week.

Going into Week 4 I have it this way...

Carroll and Coppell battling for #1
FMM is in the mix for #1
H and FM are battling for the 4th spot
Lewisville is in the mix for the 4th spot

Carroll, Coppell, FM, Lewisville and FMM are trending up.
H is really hard to read at this point, but generally trending down in a tough district. They could still turn it all around in district play.

Key 6-5A Game will be at Dragon Stadium between two CISD teams (green hosting red)

I agree, Carroll and Coppell battle for #1 and #2;
BUT, after seeing Marcus against Katy (have not seen Hebron yet), I say Marcus and Hebron battle for #3 and #4.

Marcus has not finished baking, they still are a work in progress. Hebron has youth and some defensive issues it seems, also a work in progress. For them, it all depends upon who gels first.

We will know a lot more about Carroll after this Saturday.

I really have no feelings either way for Coppell. Their posters are just so easy to get excited. I am looking forward to that game though. Allen was the same way, always had a chip on their shoulders until after last season.
I think Erwin just always has Marcus playing so tough, he is a great coach and has been there long enough that he is really turning around that program and this year with some teams getting hit by graduation they can take advantage of that. Hebron has Brazil and he is great and is a great defensive coach so he will get it figured out. I think they are reeling a little bit, they lose McBride and then Dane, so these kids have had a lot of change at DC. I really do not see anyone in our district strong enough defensively to shut down our offense for 4 quarters, too many weapons this year and that was not the case last year. A huge amount of respect for McBride but offensively they cannot hang enough points against good defensive teams, at this point. Their non district schedule is fairly week as was ours until this week. Still remains to be seen if Arlington is over rated or we are just that good. We will know a lot more about our team after Saturday. Flower Mound is building a program and just lost too much from last year and Lewisville is making strides and will do so quickly but a new coach cannot turn around a struggling program in his first year. Lewisville has the talent, they just had poor coaching the past few years IMO.
OK Coppell posters go nuts.

The reason I have both Hebron and Flower Mound tied for 4th is this.. I think both lose to the first 3, then it comes down to both beating Lewsiville..leaving the game between the 2 of them and I have not a clue right now who will win that game.

Coppell Mansfield Summitt

Flower Mound Desoto -- I would love to see FM pull this out but I am afraid Desoto is too strong.

FM Marcus Tyler Lee

Lewisville Tyler JT

Hebron Abilene Cooper -- This may be a homer pick, but I stick with them. The potential is there, they just have to be consistent in execution. And it is homecoming.

Southlake North Shore -- my daughter says she is going to this game. I would offer to have her send me updates to post but I have a feeling lots will be posting.

'misunderestimates' ;) love that word.
I thought that as well, but they were not really 'on' against Katy. You can say that was because it was Katy, or you can say that was because it was pre-District and they were still trying out things. Either way, while they did make it close, they didn't seem to be hitting on all cylinders. I will say they went to the spread more often that I would have thought, and didn't use their backfield to pound like I thought they would, so the second option (saving themselves for District) is a distinct possibility. Hopkins and crew will give teams everything they can handle and more in District I suspect. so I agree with question marks wrt their offense.

Still, they have pursuit issues on the sweep/outside, and coverage issues. Those were NOT the result of trying things out in pre-District methinks. Defensively they have some work to do.

WRT Hebron, have not seen them this year, but I do agree they are working things out with their youth and will be 'on' in District.

None taken. But what did that say about Coppell last year who had to give everything they had to beat Lewisville? Coppell should be undefeated going into district but they are still Coppell and that could mean the ultimate meltdown once district play begins. God knows that is typically the case. I was impressed with the Cowboys against HP but not to the point to where I think they are clearly in a spot to be considerd more of a threat than Marcus or Hebron for the district championship. I didn't get to the game until halftime and saw the Hawks give up 38 points in the second half. A big part of the problem is special teams. An onside kick is supposed to be a surprise play and we give up two in a row? Credit the offense for pulling this one out. I'm thinking we're just going to see high scoring games all year, which is fun but it's not a good sign that the defense always seems to get worse in the second half.

I as a big supporter of DFW football have been looking foward to this upcoming week for Dis 6-5A. This is the toughest district in the state hands down. I think SLC is the odds on favorite to win it, but it will be fun to watch as an outsider to see how it pans out. Oct. 9th Coppell @ SLC for their homecoming will be what I like to refer as a "slobberknocker". I wont predict a winner but I do believe it will be a lot less points scored this year. Both defenses are better. I think it will come down to a play or two on special teams and turnovers. Not trying to sound cliche', but I think these two are pretty evenly matched. No matter who wins, I think Coppell will receive more consideration statewide. BTW Allen plays on Thursday that week, so I might be able to swing by for that.

I was in Waco supporting Marcus, had a Marcus band mom tell my brother to shutup, she was about to record her son playing a solo when the Marcus band marched. Tough lady, he got quiet. :)

I am so sorry to hear this, that is awful. That is not typical for the band parents.

Good luck against NS today!

I didn't mean that in a bad way, he NEEDED to shutup. :D She didn't actually use those words either, she was just very direct about him being quiet while she was recording. Was glad she asked him, he had been talking nonstop about anything but the game for about a quarter. Was proud of her for stepping up. Those people in Marcus are TOUGH! :notworthy

Worth saying again. Let the 6-5A wars begin.
