...Christian Ponder of FSU for Heisman...I don't think there's a better dual threat QB in the country except for Tebow.
Mark it down...Ponder will continue to roll all season long!

As his coach*, I couldn't agree more...
* Little Christian played shortstop for me when he toothless and seven in Grapevine Baseball years ago:)-

that's a great memory Green Day. His hard work is paying off. With his academic achievements, leadership skills, and football skills, I can see him in the spotlight for a long time to come. His timely running last night was brilliant and his passing efficiency....well, you saw the numbers.
WAY TO GO CHRISTIAN !!!!!

I can't decide myself who's better. Ponder or Snead?

I agree with most of the people on this board. Although he's good, theres Jacory Harris, Jevan Snead, Jake Locker, even Colt McCoy...Ponder is a great qb, but he's got a long way to go before he's considered the best duel threat behind Tebow...

there have been quiet a few threads about D1 QBs and he is in those, another started by the GB guy.
and this off the FSU website, notice he is already working on his MBA. He is an incredibly gifted person that has made the most of his talent.
2009 Outlook: Florida State's leader on the offensive side of the ball, Ponder enters his second season as the Seminole's starting QB...in his first season under center Ponder showed he was one of the most dangerous quarterbacks in the conference with his feet but he will look to continue to progress in the passing game in 2009...Ponder accounted for 18 touchdowns last season, the third-highest total by a Seminole since 2001...showed excellent patience as a passer in his first season connecting with seven or more receivers in seven of his 13 starts...also had one of the top 20 passing seasons is school history throwing for 2006 yards...should benefit from a much deeper and more experienced offensive line in 2009...according to position coach Jimbo Fisher he has developed into a leader for a very inexperienced group of young receivers...he will be missing his top two targets from the 2008 season in Preston Parker and Greg Carr...named the offense's most valuable player following spring practice where he completed almost 56% of his passes and did not throw an interception in any of the team's scrimmages...also named the most dependable quarterback and one of four winners of the leadership award for the offense...Fisher believes Ponder has the ability to develop into the best player he has coached at the position including the NFL's No. 1 overall pick in 2007 JaMarcus Russell.
2008: In his first season as a starting quarterback, led FSU to a nine-win season for the first time since 2004.Started all 13 games...named offensive MVP and Seminole Warrior at the football awards dinner...also the junior class academic award winner for the offense...ranked fifth in the ACC in total offense and sixth in pass efficiency...eighth in the conference in passing per game...a major weapon with his feet, Ponder is the first FSU quarterback to run for 400 yards in a season since Charlie Ward ran for 504 in 1992...just the fifth QB in school history to run for 400 or more yards...was second to only Antone Smith for rushing touchdowns in 2008 with four...Ponder became just the fourth Seminole ever to rush for a touchdown in four consecutive games...his 144 rushing yards versus Miami were the second-most in FSU history behind Ken MacLean who ran for 146 in 1948...his 45-yard run versus Miami was the fourth-longest in school history by a QB...completed passes to six receivers or more in 11 of 13 games this season...found eight different receivers in a season-opening win over Western Carolina and nine different receivers in FSU's win over Wisconsin in the Champs Sports Bowl...became the first FSU QB since Charlie Ward to throw six TD passes in his first two starts.
2007: Played in one game - the first game of his career - as he was forced into action against Virginia Tech when starting quarterback Drew Weatherford was injured in the second quarter of the game on the road...Ponder, who had worked with the first team offense during the week in practice, stepped into the game in the face of a nationally ranked Hokie defense and a hostile Lane Stadium crowd...the first pass of his career was a beautifully thrown 23-yard out pattern to Greg Carr...he completed one of three passes for 23 yards with one rush for nine yards in his first quarter of action...became more comfortable as the game went on as he guide the Seminoles to 15 second half points...on his first scoring drive (a 50-yard field goal by Gary Cismesia) he was 1-for-1 for 24 yards on a six-play, 27-yard drive...his second scoring drive was a seven-play, 54-yard touchdown scoring drive...he was 3-for-4 for 32 yards passing and rushed one time for six yards on the drive...his first career touchdown pass was an eight-yard strike to De'Cody Fagg that gave Florida State a 21-20 lead with 3:41 left in the third quarter...he finished the game 8-for-18 for 105 yards and one touchdown.

i feel good for ponder, because he's a texas kid. but.....talk about rushing ahead. he needs to display more consistency all season long before we ever put him in the heisman talk. he continues this kind of play, and he might be up there. i also think FSU would need to win at least 9 or 10 games for him to be considered. as for best dual threat qb in the nation behind tebow??? not even close to it...Dan Lefevour (Central Michigan), Joe Webb (UAB), Matt Grothe (USF), Colt Mccoy (ut), Robert Griffin (Baylor) are all much more of a dual threat than ponder.
