Caught his foot in the turf while coming down with a catch early in the game. No one knows yet how long. Better than a ligament tear, which is what we thought it was, but still not good. A big loss to us, as when healthy he is legitimately one of the top 3 or so receiver talents in the conference. I expect Tannehill to move full time to receiver with him out.

A lot of young talent on the field today, but the youth showed in some key moments as Utah State very nearly stormed back in the last two minutes. Penalties killed us...over 110 yards worth. Uzoma Nwachukwu is a serious talent......we all knew he had speed, but he made some real circus catches and showed off his hands. 3 catches for 101 yards, all TDs and a 39 yard TD run.

Seems that when the Ags were up 38-17 they just relaxed:mad: I blame that on their youth but I hope Sherman teaches them how to finish a game otherwise they will get bit. The A & M offense this year is fun to watch. Most of the team is freshmen and sophs.

Not good news for the Ags. However, it sounds like there are some other weapons emerging and really stepping up. Tannehill played a lot of WR last night and my guess is he will stay there for at least the duration of Fuller's injury. Nwachukwu is a real game breaker! 4 touches for 4 TDs! The offense is much more balanced than last year with Michael leading the way along with Gray and Johnson's ability to run. I'm eager to see how productive the offense is against a better D.

They really let the foot of the gas, you could sense it. Utah State gave us several strange looks in the 1st, but after that they played very well most of the game. Then in the 4th quarter some more true fish came in, they shifted to a prevent style defense, and surrendered some huge chunks. Some bad angles of pursuit and overpursuit as well.

What must be fixed is the offsides penalties. No excuse for that, none at all. Also, there was a complete BS offensive pass interference call (called on a receiver on the opposite side of the field from the actual catch) that cost us a 1st and goal inside the five in the 4th. Really took some of the wind out.

C-Mike went out with a minor calf strain, but not before putting up 240 all purpose yards. This guy is for real, believe me. It's been a while since the Big XII has seen a runner with his style. If he had played one more drive he would have easily broken 100 rushing on the night.

I really like the improvements I have seen this year. Kinda makes those wanting Sherman's head look stupid IMO.

This is what he gets for decommitting from OU... seriously though, huge loss for the Aggies. He is going to be a stud WR for them, something they haven't had in ages.

Glad to see the team 2-0, but was pretty unimpressed with the win over mighty Utah State.

I'm afraid the B12 south is not going to be kind to A&M this year - I'm less optimistic for them now than 2 weeks ago.

Understand there were a ton of them, infestation of sorts. Could hear them clearly on the USU broadcast and South said something of this being known as the Cricket game.

There were some goobers over on Texags talking about how the crickets were a result of the cutbacks by the athletic dept. As if it has never happened anywhere else at any time.

It will come down to eliminating some of the penalties. Didn't see the Utah State game, but it sounded like the Aggies gave them a lot of what they got. Basically, A&M was a MUCH better team that played like crap.

There were a bunch of crickets, I didn't notice them too bad on the 3rd deck. I understand a few rows up they were terrible. I have no idea how the Texas A&M AD is supposed to prevent crickets from swarming around stadium lights.

No one who wasn't at the stadium really saw what happened. The defense let down in the 4th quarter and in the first was knocked back by a lot of different looks. Overpursuit and lines of pursuit was a big problem, especially at first I expect some of that from a defense with as many true freshmen as we have. A&M is going to be vulnerable to mobile QBs and the big play.

Aside from the false start penalties, really nothing wrong with the offense. It's number 1 in the NCAA right now so I am not going to complain. Likely would have had 45 points in this one except for a garbage offensive PI that was flagged on the opposite side of the field from the actual catch.

Hadn't heard the AD bi, but it might be funny to see in BB mentions it Wednesday.

UAB looks to suck. Beat Rice, and lost to SMU and shellacked by Troy.

Troy(with losses to Bowling Green/FL) had 551 total yards offense. UAB put up 109 passing yards.

Like I said before the season, a$m will be 3-0. What Mallet might do appears to be the first test and the pigs will most certainly be 1-2 coming in to Big D.

There were roughly 3 crickets per square foot on the second deck.

It was gross...

The crickets were gross. I've seen them worse, though. One year at ACU we had an infestation....you could not walk a step on campus or even on the first floors of most buildings without them getting underfoot. People were falling down on sidewalks and hard floors from slipping on the slick caused by their guts. Stench was horrible. I have recurring nightmares about it.

Unrelated to Crickets: Former Denison Yallerjacket and current Mormon Aggie Stanley Morrison had 126 yds receiving on Saturday. That made me happy.

Must have happened again, because that was during my 2nd year at ACU (2001) and judging by your birthday on the profile you weren't in college then. It happens when you have the right weather conditions.

Ya your right, my freshman year there was 07-08, but it sounds like the same thing happened again, the whole sides of the library were covered by a black mass of crickets, every stairwell was full of them and the stench was unreal! So when I was at the A&M game, every1 was trippin out about them but it just reminded me of ACU.

from BB's update:

Last week I mentioned a special guest might lead the team out of the locker room to start the game. The timing did not work out for one invited guest; unfortunately, the timing did work out for some uninvited guests in the second half. I've never seen so many crickets and moths in one place. When I went into the locker room after the game, Dr. J.P. Bramhall brushed insects out of my hair, and I found more inside my shirt. Yuck.

Some of you asked me why our bats did not eat the crickets. The simple answer is, because the stadium lights were on. It's Mother Nature at her best. Experts have told us the crickets use the lights for warmth, while the bats stay in their nooks and crannies with the lights on. Recent rain in Aggieland caused the crickets to emerge, and unfortunately we could see more crickets this week. It's something we can't control. Our staff is working tirelessly all week to clean up the mess the crickets left, all the while knowing there is a chance more insects will return for this week's game against UAB.

Maybe we should look into a special flyover this week by crop dusters
