Home and home w/Cal and same w/Minnesota.

Cal would be a great trip, and I guess Minnesota in September has some allure.

AUSTIN -- A home and home football series with Pac-10 foe California and Big Ten opponent Minnesota has been scheduled for the 2015 and 2016 seasons, The University of Texas announced Friday. The Longhorns will travel to Minneapolis on Sept. 19, 2015 and to Berkley on Sept. 10, 2016. The Bears will visit Austin on Sept. 12, 2015 and the Gophers will return to Austin on Sept. 17, 2016.

The Longhorns and Bears have met four times with UT holding a 4-0 advantage. The last time the two teams met was in 1970, a 56-15 Texas victory in Austin. The teams also met in 1969 (17-0 in Berkley), 1961 (28-3 in Berkley) and 1959 (33-0 in Austin). Texas and Minnesota have met only once in the programs' histories, a 47-19 Minnesota win in 1936.

Texas also announced it has filled a pair of non-conference dates for 2013 and 2014 with home games against New Mexico State on Aug. 31, 2013 and North Texas on Aug. 30, 2014.

UT holds a 4-0 all-time advantage over New Mexico State with all four games being played in Austin. Texas and North Texas will meet for the 10th time in the programs' histories. The Longhorns have won the previous nine meetings, all in Austin.

Texas has won 15 straight non-conference games, which is tied for the second-longest non-conference winning streak in the nation and is tied for the longest in UT history with a 15-game streak from 1945-48. Texas is also currently on a school-record non-conference road-winning streak of 10, which bettered the previous mark of seven from 1956-63.

Nothing in it at all for the Horns. Only way that happens is if a team backs out and we have a hole to fill.

Mid level Big 10 team. Maybe it's Mack paying Brewster back for landing VY.

You're probably right on that one. I forgot about the Mack/Brewster connection going all the way back to UNC.

Minn is on the rise, getting some good recruiting. Won't be at Texas' level probably but will be a fairly good ooc game.

I'm jealous on the Minnesota front and their new stadium. Not many college programs can say they have a brand new stadium just for themselves.

I don't know how much that will help recruiting, but the trip would be interesting for Horns fans.

It's a beautiful stadium...I have actually seen it in person, i think it is exactly what they needed...

Especially an outdoor stadium, it really gives them advantage come winter months...God knows it could start snowing up there in Mid-September..

Oklahoma WAS supposed to play Notre Dame this year... those cowards backed out though. Idaho State was a good replacement...

hmmmm I'm curious if Idaho St. actually made your SOS rank higher. IMO it would.

Ole Miss is a program on the rise and as long as Nutt and Kent Austin (OC and probable HC in waiting)are there they should be a competitive team.

Cal should be good too, they have been for a while now. If Tedford is still there, they should be OK. Who knows about Minnesota in 6 years, they could be good or mediocre.

I'd rather see Texas playing USC than UCLA, just from a CF fan's perspective although UCLA might be pretty solid in a couple years with Neuheisel at the helm. I do remember a beat down UCLA put on Texas back in the 90's, so some payback might be in order.

Even though it’s playing a terribly watered-down non-conference football schedule this year (partly because Arkansas asked to move its return game to 2014), the Texas football powers are trying to beef up future schedules. That’s smart.

Texas and Southern California are in the midst of serious talks about a future home-and-home series, possibly in 2019-2020, but nothing is close to being finalized, and it could still fall apart. Kudos to both football programs for taking such a risk and trying to put together what would be the Game of the Year for two straight seasons.

Interesting note about Arkansas. It's not listed on the Texas site.

Arkansas asked to reschedule the game because they recently scheduled to play A&M this year. That game has not yet been rescheduled, and given that it's an away game for Texas, we're in no particular hurry to do it.

Texas is rumored to be in talks with USC for a home and home as well.

that is a long way away...

2019-2020....That is freaking 10 years from now.

Vince Young will have won a national title 15 years prior.

Colt McCoy will be 33..

Mack Brown will be 68

Deloss Dodds will either be dead or 82 years old.

and JoePa will likely been dead for 5 plus years.
