OKLAHOMA CITY -- Only one in four Oklahoma public high school students can name the first President of the United States, according to a survey released today.

hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!

just another reason why i won't be living in this state after college.

just a quick FYI...public schools in oklahoma are pretty terrible (as one can see). norman has the best school district in the state (not saying much)...and private schools are BIG up here.

i have a theory...

every county was red in oklahoma in the '08 election...only state in the union that went all red. i think the racist trailer trash parents have just kept telling their kids that that bush is still in office, and not a black man. :D

You left out the best part IMO pied...

About 92 percent of the people who take the citizenship test pass on their first try, according to immigration service data. However, Oklahoma students did not fare as well. Only about 3 percent of the students surveyed would have passed the citizenship test.

check out the big brain on the sooner!

The survey was for the first president, not the current one.

Not the only troubling part... see the bottom where they had more statistics? 39% don't know what ocean is on the east coast, 74% had no idea what the first ten amendments to the constitution are called, 90% did not know how many supreme court justices there were, etc. It is just appalling and what I think the worst part about it is the way Ducher weasels his way out of it by saying "well, I've seen the Arizona results and they are bad too."

What the hell are they teaching these kids in US history? I think it is time we bring back the paddle. No child left behind = only the most intelligent children are actually left behind as we cater to the lowest common denominator.
