Mercedes Tiger's Sr QB Albert Chavez (6'3 215 lbs) had a phenomenal performance against one of the top teams in the RGV, the Los Fresnos Falcons, this past friday.

Stats:
Rush yds - 318 yds, 2 tds
Pass yds - 287 yds, 1 tds

He completed the game with 605 yds, an RGV record. His team ended up with 643 yds total.

He's currently in the voting for Dave Campbells Top player of the week. And apparently he's received some LOI from some good D1 schools.

Here's a quick highlight video from their Week 0 game against Port Lavaca Calhoun

A Beast QB who plays with a lot of heart, keep your eye on him.

Yikes! Almost 300 yards passing to go with 318 rushing in one game is something serious.

no kidding. it would be easier for a passer to get some yards to go with his 490 yds passing. wasson probably had 550 in the 02 state title game.

the news article says the 605 yds ranks up there with the State records. Im wondering if anyone knows where to get that info. I'd like to see where it ranks.

Chase did have a big game against SV that year.

This particular guy from Mercedes brings back memories of what Riley did against Cedar Hill in 2007. Riley threw, and ran around the Longhorns all night that night.

That's a good question. As I said in my previous post, Riley Dodge went nuts like this in a playoff game against Cedar Hill in 2007. Odell James had a game similar to Riley's and Chavez's in the title game against Lewisville in the mid '90s as well.

We need to hunt down the record books and see what the combine total yardage is for a QB in one game.

Well, I do know that 595 yds is the passing record for one game and that 587 yds is the rushing record for one game...so that is at least a start.

I'll check on Riley's, though I dont think it approaches those two or what this kid from the Valley did.

How did they lose to Port Lavaca Calhoun with him?

You sure? Cause, if I remember correctly, Riley had atleast 300 passing, and 250 rushing that night.

You might be right though!

Sorry bro...I forgot to get back to this thread with the info I found.:o

Yea, that wasn't against Chill...It was against Flower Mound the week before.

Riley had 356 passing and 220 rushing for a 576 total against the Jaguars...Very very good, but still below what even the passer had just on passing yards alone and what the rusher had just on rushing yards alone.

RD was just sick, not just in that game, because obviouly he was, but just overall...He had quite a few like that game, maybe not the total amount, but just the workmanship he put in over his career as the starter.

Okay! I knew Riley had some insane total but, I wasn't sure of the exact numbers. Thanks for the clarification!

I agree on everything you said about Riley as well.

Riley has guts and guts is good enough (Full Metal Jacket - DI description of snowball). Showing my age again.

Mercedes had a ton of turnovers in this game. It probably would've been a lot closer if not for all their fumbles and interceptions.

another ridiculous defensive gem thrown down by the mckinney defense leads to m-boyd qb rushing for 329 and passing for 304 in a 78-51 win. he accounted for 8 tds. the lion dc needs to look for a meaningful job, maybe as a gas station attendant. no, that might lead to actual deaths. i wonder what the record for defensive futility in a season is? mckinney has to be on pace right now. they are giving up 68 pts and 700 yds per. that's some good stuff, for sure. wakeland scored 56 last night, so is 100 out of the realm of possibility? stay tuned. they play thursday at poe. may be worth the trip.
