Give us your Big XII power rankings here. Not how you necessarily think they will finish, but who is playing the best ball, right now:
Firebird's:
1. Texas: Right now, hard to see anything standing between them and the NC games.
2. Nebraska: Might not be here too much longer, depending on what happens against Virginia Tech.
3. Kansas: Might sneak up on Nebraska in the north...have beat everyone handily.
4. Texas Tech: A shaky start against IAA NDSU followed by a pounding of Rice.
5. Missouri: A tight game against BGSU does not bode well form them in conference play.
6. Oklahoma: Back on track? Too early to tell, pounding Idaho State means almost nothing.
7. Oklahoma State: How the mighty have fallen. But, UH is a much better team than anyone gave them credit for.
8. Baylor: Took down Wake, but with only one game under their belts, it's hard to make too many judgment calls.
9. Texas A&M: A better win than expected over NM, but hard to judge off of one game.
10. Iowa State: Well, you beat NDSU. So you have that going for you.
11. Kansas State: Loss to ULaLa= suck. How pissed must Snyder be that he has to start from scratch with this program TWICE.
12: Colorado: Go play intramurals, brother. Go play intramurals.

who is playing the best ball, right now
"Right now" changes up my rankings a little bit but here we go:
1. Texas - Goal: survive the "trap" games and keep the #2 ranking.
2. Kansas - Averaging roughly 300 yds in the air AND on the ground
3. Nebraska - I smell a 10-2 season. The trip to VT will show us or not.
4. OU - Who is more impressive: 64-0 win over an FCS team w/o Bradford
4. Texas Tech - or a 55-10 win over Rice at home? Toss up for me NOW.
6. Okie State - Beat Georgia: Check Beat U of H: X (Watch out TTU)
7. Baylor - Impressive Wake Forest victory...next step: Big XII wins.
8. Texas A&M - I'll take Baylor over the Aggies, but A&M over the Tigers
9. Missouri - Bowling Green at home overshadows the Illinois victory...
10. Iowa State - At least you're not last!!
11. Kansas State - Close win vs. UMass and close loss @ LL
12. Colorado - I have no words....

Btw...I can't believe Missouri is still ranked in the USA Today Poll. I may have been a little rough on them because of the Bowling Green game, but I still think they are waaay too overrated.

like winning 4 Heismans...
I wonder where Slorch would actually rank Tech if he wasn't doing his whole "Tech is last until they beat every team" thing. Anyone?

My philosophy is the correct one in that it is accurate every week of the season.

Yeah yeah yeah I understand your point but you should at least place Tech in front of Colorado. I mean, come on, there are some high schools who would give Colorado a good game.

Based on his rankings, I would say no lower than 6th. I don't think he would have aggie above us. ;)

Neither Texas, Nebraska, Kansas, Texas Tech, or Missouri has played the likes of BYU..... or Houston (lmao). OU is being punished for losing to a very good BYU team, by 1 pt - w/o a Heisman winning QB, and All-American TE (young OL). Okie Lite beat Georgia, then lost to Houston - led by a Heisman darkhorse (IMO) in Case Keenum.

I rated UT ahead of OU simply because of the loss of Bradford.
UT has also won the games on their schedule so far.
Your points are a huge reason why i think polls are totally stupid until the final week of the season.

A loss is a loss is a loss. It'll be a loss if the playoffs end up replacing the BCS, and then you won't be able to argue what you just argued. It'll be solely win/loss record.

Remember what they say...if you have to lose a game, lose early in the season.;)

I agree... "a loss is a loss". If ULL goes undefeated - winning the Sun Belt Conference - I say we put them in the BCS National Title game! I mean, how could any undefeated Sun Belt team not be considered better than a 4-loss ACC, Pac-10, MWC, Big Ten, SEC or Big XII team??!!

Oh here go...with the "violin-playing" sob stories...your complimentary comments towards "bring'em young" are totally lame...you would not have given a rats @$$ if the outcome had been in your favor.

Missouri hasn't lost yet. It's too early to start ranking teams that have lost ahead of teams that are 2-0. That's why this is power rankings and not plain old rankings.

i thought that your rankings were based off of "who is playing the best ball, right now."
missouri squeaking by bowling green isn't exactly "playing great ball."

And beating Idaho State 64-0 tells me nothing about how you are playing. You might as well tell me you looked great in a scrimmage. All it it tells me is that Idaho State really sucks. Mizzou is still 2-0.

Of course I wouldn't care... chances are I'd likely have been playing the likes of ULM, Northern Colorado, North Dakota, or Florida Atlantic... and still be undefeated, with inflated and useless numbers, helping to align a false ranking order. No violin needed, just common sense! My motive was simple, don't beat a nobody, then stand on a pedastal and blast me for losing to a somebody.
Thanks for playing "Not Living Up To My Username: 2009 Edition"...
