I am a Chevy fan

I don't like the Toyota Tundra because when I look at it it looks like a midsize truck, even when next to an F150 or Silverado. Does Toyota make 3/4 ton or 1 ton pickup trucks?

I like the Silverado 1500, 2500, and 3500
I wouldn't drive a Dodge or a Ford F-150
I would drive a Ford F-250 or 350 with a Powerstroke because even as a Duramax fan, I know its a good engine.

I am looking at a mid to late '90s Silverado, because I like trucks but can't afford a new one (because I'm 16 and only work during the summer)

Navigators are crap therefore Lincoln is crap therefore Ford is crap

I wish I could change Chevy to GM, because then it would include the Escalade, the Hummers, and the Sierra.

A truck is a personal choice as long as its a domestic. Each brand has its pros and cons. I am a big Diesel fan myself and I feel that Dodge makes the best Diesel engine followed by General Motors. I also feel that GM makes the best transmission followed by dodge. Bottomline, if you are thinking about a diesel do not buy a Ford.

Its a family thing, I drove a old 1981 Ford in high school, and bought a 2002 F-150 after saving up from many years of working. My uncle has always driven a ford and my father used to as well. All my buddies accept the "aggy" are all chevy guys.

Ford for me..

Still got a 1990 with 260,000 miles on the original motor and still going strong..i have done a tranny repair though but thats after hauling so much crap in the mountains.

I own a 1993 Ford Lightning Limited Edition truck drive it daily 90 miles per day has 145,000 miles and I havent repaired one thing except for regular maitenace parts ie...plugs, brakes, fluids,..still has stock alternator, waterpumps, etc etc.. this truck is also modified and raced at the track and can hang with mustangs and camaros

2002 Navigator with 75000 miles all stock all in one piece..

I do have a 1999 Chevy Malibu this lil sucker has 171,000 as well and have had to replace the manifold gaskets but thats about it..

cars/trucks need attention..if u take care of them theyll take care of you..unless its really a lemon...

I drive a Tacoma 4-door. Great truck...it can climb up a wall. Before that I drove a GMC Sierra...another great truck with a smooth ride. I think I am going to sell the Taco and go back to a bigger truck though. I did the toyota thing for gas savings but it doesn't get the mileage i was expecting. I would much rather have a bigger smoother ride. I will probably go with another GMC or Chevy 4-door. I do like the look of the boxy 4-door Ford too.

the best work truck you can buy is a 3/4 or 1ton cummins. you can put a million+ miles on those and do nothing but basic maintenance. the only knock ive ever heard on them is its gota be a stick because those turbo diesels eat up the auto's after about a hundred thousand miles.

the best gas truck is by far a silverado:D , got a '94 that my dad bought brand new with 37 miles on it, its now got over 140 thousand now and replaced the alternator and water pump at 120. no oil spots in the drive way, no burning oil nothin.

we have never and will never have a ford. steering lash in those things is ridiculous and too many problems with the suspension on anything 4wheel drive. dont even get me started on the foreign folks attempts to make a real truck, because they have failed miserably

<---- Joining Ms. Kitty and Lonny. I tried to vote for Dodge, but I am not sure if it casted my vote. It kept telling me I had already voted, but kept asking me to place my vote so I am not too sure. But I go with Dodge.

Chevy has used plastic pieces in their engines and transmissions. The Avalanche doesn't just come with a completely plastic body, it comes with a plastic engine and transmission ;)

D08, I have never personally owned a vehicle. My uncles drive Chevrolet 1500s and a couple Tahoes, and have never had problems with them. My dad drove a Silverado before he sold it, after experiencing 0 problems with it. (sold it after an accident).

My Families Ford Record:
1994 Ford Aerostar (minivan)- Replaced A/C 3 times in first year ('94) and 2 times in the next 3 years. The transmission went out after 100k miles, and the inline 4 never wanted to start.

1998 F-150- Clutch burned out after 1 year, replaced rear end after 2 years (around 30k miles), heater stopped working in second year.

1997 Ranger- Never started good, was sold after it met a guide wire and a telephone pole

2000 Ford Escort ZX2- DO NOT BUY THIS CAR. This car (since 2000) rattles you to death while iddling, the automatic transmission had to be replaced after only 33k miles, the passenger window does not go up, but will go down. The trunk does not close properly, and it has never been in an accident. The transmission does not shift smoothly into 3rd, and sometimes misses completely (remember, its an automatic) NOTE- this is supposed to be the sport version of the Escort

2003 Ford Explorer- Rear driver side window motor replaced after 1 month. Passenger window motor replaced after 3 months. The rear glass got recalled because there was a malfunction with the hinges that could cause the rear glass to fall off. A peice on the rear liftgate that has been replaced twice already has cracked once again. The engine starts well sometimes, but does not run well. It stutters and tries to die when you put in in reverse, and the transmission does the same as the above mentioned Escort, just not as bad.

My bro-n-law has a 2005 4x4 Eddie Bower(sp?) Excursion w/Powerstroke turbo diesel, a 1998 F-250 with Powerstroke diesel, and a 2002 Explorer. The explorer has experienced the same problems as the above mentioned 2003 Explorer, minus the transmission slipping.

Ford makes a good truck, but their cars and SUVs are garbage. I am considering the Excursion a truck because of the Diesel. Unless my family is just unlucky, I have a great reason to dislike Fords.

Does anybody else here love the sound of a diesel engine?

Yep. I know the gasoline powered Excursion got horrible fuel economy, but the Diesel gets about 16-18 mpg. It can tow big loads and has a lot of interior space. I still prefer the Suburban. That Excursion may be a 2004, but I don't think so because he got it the summer of 2005 for $50,000 with hardly any miles on it.

IMHO, the best trucks are as follows:
#1 Chevy
#2 Dodge
#2 Ford
#4 Tonka (yes the toy)
#5 Hot-Wheels (si, el toy)
#6 Toyota
#7 Nissan
#8 Honda (wtf is up with the Ridgeline. Ugly truck, imo)

Absolutely. 3.0 Liter V6, got 21 mpg. The 5 speed was a great and really smooth. The clutch was nice, etc. etc. With that 4WD and how light it was, I could take on things a Chevy 1500 couldn't. I didn't offroad it too much though. I didn't want to rag it out. I loved that truck and hated to part with it.

A truck is made for the ranch, not to look pretty on the road. That's what cars are for. That's what I hate about most people who drive SUV's. You waste a good vehicle if you don't ever get them dirty. I've driven small cars through mountains and backroads, on the dirt and everywhere else, and you better believe I drove my truck everywhere, too. One time, I drove my truck up the ski slope in Newfoundland in the summer.

I almost agree. When I drive 75 miles on a service call to a ranch outside Sonora I don't want to be beat to death in a Ford or Dodge on the way there. The GMC does fine on the ranch once I get there.

When I first moved to the city, I saw some strange sights. Trucks with what they called, ground effects. I thought that was such a waste. If you can't go over a terrace or cattle guard without tearing the bottom out of a truck then it is a waste. That is why you have cars. I still feel the same way.

The whole idea is they create trucks to do the stuff that cars can't do. You carry more stuff and have more ground clearance.

U know, I normally don't like ford, but that Powerstroke ain't a joke. My brother-in-law has an F-250 and an Excursion, both with Powerstrokes, and both of 'em will get up and go. Both of them handle his huge trailer (idk what length) just fine. I've never ridden in a Chevy or Dodge diesel, but I know they are nice.

Chevy DOES have the best Transmissions though. That Allison ain't no woman :D

My daily driver is a GMC Sierra. Now I do admit that I am really fond of the Mercedes-Benz trucks, but they are pretty hard to get into the country. The diesels are indestrucatble and literally go for a million miles. Had one once and stupidly sold it. But that is true for a number of vehicles in my life.
