Are you kidding me? Comparing Matt Barkley to John Elway?

This is pathetic. Barkley was 15-31, 0 TDs, 1 INT, and was sacked a lot and had no mobility all night. And on the final game winning drive, he did nothing but hand it off to Joe McKnight. Yet ESPN gives all the credit on USC's game winning drive to Matt Barkley. Joe McKnight did everything on that last drive, Barkley did nothing. I could have done what Matt Barkley did, turn around and hand it off to Joe McKnight or throw him a small bubble or screen pass. Matt Barkley does not deserve a lot of credit, he probably hurt USC more than helped them tonight.

Matt Barkley proved tonight he still has no downfield passing game at all or mobility.

On the "ESPN" note...

I'm confused as to how one overrated team at home beating the 18th ranked overrated team is more newsworthy than the number 5 team losing at home to an unranked team by 10. But whatever floats your boat ESPN.

I wasn't all that impressed with his last drive (or most of the game) either but the kid is only 18 and did show poise... that stadium was f**king loud. I remember how McCoy struggled playing against Ohio State the second start of his career, and that game was at home.

I thought McCoy's first start against tOSU was at the Shoe in 2006.

It was a home game. Vince Young and Co. went to the shoe and beat tOSU the previous year and in '06 they came and returned the favor.

Number 18th ranked team? OSU was ranked 8th heading into the game, and USC and OSU are two of college football's most storied programs. Okie Lite was an overrated joke, who beat a mediocre UGA team at home last week, and got a ton of pub for it.

I was actually talking about Notre Dame and Michigan. That's been leading the ESPN in-game reports and etc. and led off the SportsCenter I was watching.

Even if the Cowboys were overrated, the Coogs aren't getting the press they deserve for knocking off the 5th ranked team on the road. I'm gonna hold my tongue on the "respect" issue until the polls come out, but I think right now there's a good chance Oklahoma State will still be ahead of Houston.

I've always liked McKnight as well. But, USC just happens to have 50 other RBs so, we don't see him on the field as much as we could.

The return of USCPN is so sickening

Notre Dame was over rated. I don't want to hear about them on ESPN all day. I wanted to see highlights of the UofH vs OSU game but did I get to? No because every time i put it on USCPN it was a Matt Barkley felatio party or a Notre Dame brown nosing event.

The funniest line of the night was midway in the second quarter. USC was mounting a good drive, in which Barkley had handed off about 7 times and thrown it twice. Following another running play, Musberger proclaims, " Barkley seems to have found his rhythm.

Very next play was an interception!

USC was killing OSU in everything except the QB. They should have won by 2 or 3 TDs. I know the kid is a freshman, playing at the shoe, but don't just blatantly lie about crap and say he was player of the game!

I thought the WR #18 played a hell of a game for USC, too.

One other thing: Terrell Pryor sucks. He held back the Buckeyes too!

they will need several sets of knee pads if usc plays florida. same for the usc-nd game. emt's will have to revive the announcers from deep swoons after every perfect, classic, epic handoff.

Number 18 would be Damian Williams! Williams was a great pickup for SC, as he came over from Arkansas with Mustain.

And, I agree about Pryor holding OSU back!

I think what was holding USC back was conservative play calling, and not the QB. Had they opened the playbook up, SC would have rolled IMO.

Barkley threw 2 INTs in the first half, if you are the NEW OC at Southern Cal, what would have done? he had to give his team the best chance to win, which included leaning on their defense and stable of RBs. I think the OC did a good job, considering the balancing act he was facing. If he kept forcing the playbook, eventually even Ohio State and Terrible Pryor were going to score on that defense...

Barkley threw one interception the entire game.

comp. att yard pct. avg. sack yds. lost TD's int's

I'm sorry but if my quarterbacks completion percentage is under 50% I'm not exactly full of confidence to open up the playbook. Dump-off passes to the running backs probably accounted for about half of those yards as well.

My bad. For some reason, I thought he threw one early, but now I remember that it was actually Pryor's pick to the Sc linebacker.

Regardless of 1 or 2 picks, the flow of the game was the same. There was too much risk to get cute for the Trojans. i think the OC did a great job of protecting Barkley.

I doubt it. SC goes 3 WR's and McKnight in the backfield as an outlet against the OSU LB's, and they would have lit the score board up.

Just look at the play at 2 minutes.

Well, that's not something that I remember happening often enough to take note of and it's also conveniently a stat that isn't tracked very accurately (or at all) at the college level. I would like to see the yards after catch numbers from that game because I think the receivers and the backs did much more work to pad that 195 yards than Barkely did. That last drive to end the game was 80% McKnight 20% Barkley.

Thank you! I won't go as far as to say he sucks but he has miles to go before he's there. The Pryor hype machine has made me sick since his recruitment. I lump him in with Jimmy Clausen. I just can't be a fan of theirs, ever, becuase of the way they behaved before they signed. Signing on the footsteps of the College HOF and not signing your LOI until months after signing day because you're just so torn/undecided = baby diva behavior. I have a physical aversion to that.

It will not get any better this week with Musburger coming back to Austin and reminding us with a name like Colt he was destined to QB the Universtiy of Texas. The love fest with Texas from ESPN will begin this week and we will be informed once again how Shipley and McCoy are roomates and their dads are best friends and have been since they were roomates in college.
I know I know Colt has already proven himself and Barkley hasn't. But then when UF and LSU are on national TV it will get real bad. I wonder if that game will be a ESPN primetime game or CBS primetime game?
