There seems to be some reason why people think SLC needs to play out of state teams for a new challenge. I say seeing the run these guys have made since going 5A there's not that many teams across the nation that would give as much of a challenge as the teams they have to go thru each year. I don't think there is much doubt that SLC has been the best team the last two years and lesser teams are taking on out of state powers and beating them. Why is necessary for SLC to go out of state to hang half a hundred on some team that may think they can hang. Just don't see it anymore. What's everyone else's take on this?

I think it's more of a testament to the program not a knock against it. I would like katy, carrol, SV, lufkin and any power in texas to play out of state once in a while to show everyone else that texas is still king of high school football. Texas only gets 3ish spots on the pointless national rankings when I am pretty sure there are dozens of programs in texas that can play with the usatoday/espn top 25's. So maybe it's more of "here's our best...can you compete?" kind of thing.

I have no doubt there was a team somewhere in the US the past year that could have POTENTIALLY beaten them - the teams obviously weren't located in Texas. Finding such an opponent is easier said than done. I've suggested Jenks or Union in Tulsa for proximity reasons. The embarrassment factor for other schools in Texas and abroad is increasing every year. Does it change next year? I say doubtful until deep into the po's.

I would not be opposed to Carroll taking on an out of state team for its last non-district game of the year in a home game only situation where Carroll only plays the game at Dragon Stadium and the other team has to travel.

I think there are plenty of teams in Texas that they could play. Everyone has been hoping for a SLC-Trinity matchup for several years and the schools are 10 miles apart. Maybe this will finally happen with reallignment.

There are top programs thoughout the state that deserve a game. They could play a team that they would probably not meet in the playoffs(at least not early). Some Houston or San Antonio schools maybe?

I think Coppell is a given. The Grapevine/Colleyville schools should continue even if they are not in the same district. The Midland Lee games were a good start.

Just my 10Cents. :D

I heard that Coppell does not want to schedule Carroll in non-district anymore. It is just a rumor, but it would be a shame for this rivalry to die.

From another site.....

That friend would be me and I just got conformation at the Evangel Football banquet tonight..

Clean you better sit down for this!!!

As struggle posted I started that rumor on this website about SLC vs ECA in October when talks began..But now paragom media got involved and its pretty much a done deal....

Heres what I I heard tonight from the big mans mouth!!

Hoover..SLC and Texas High for the first 3 games of the year in 06.

The best is yet to come..No backing down or going away for Evangel.

As far as going to Dallas to play SLC..not 100% sure where it will be played but it will be played on National T.V..They are working out the details..Let you know more when I know where.
