If you could travel back in time, what would you cange in the sportsworld?

1. Everson Walls would intercept Joe Montana's throwaway pass and the 49'ers would be the ordinary franchise they deserved to be. I wouldn't have cried after the game as a ten year old, and Danny White would be in HOF for being first QB to win 3 straight SB's

2. NC State misses the final shot against Phi Slamma Jamma, and they get the title that was rightfully theirs.

3. I punch Jerry Jones in the mouth before it costs the Cowboys multiple SB wins and runs off Jimmy Johnson. This would also prevent the complete humiliation of Cowboys fans by hiring both Barry Switzer("we got got a job to do, and we're gonna do it, BABY") and Deion Sanders. Maybe it could have saved Michael Irvin from falling in a Coke dream into the National Spotlight.

4. I would go back to the late 80's and make SLC an all girls school. Lufkin would have 4 state champs in the 2000's. Remember things happen the way I want in this little thread.

The NCAA would have had a football playoff system for years.
Agree with #2. If that happened, Guy Lewis would be in the Hall of Fame.

I'm a big Cougar fan and the current rules would've given UH a win that night. NC St. won without a shot clock and fouled UH without the current rules of 2 automatic free throws after 10 fouls. Reid Getty could hit some 3's if they had them in the tournament, too. Yes, I would change the results of the game.

Not only would Everson get that ball, but Montana would not lead that comeback on UH in 1979.

The Astros would have a World Series title, too. Tkae your pick of 1980, 1986, or 2005.

The Bills wouldn't have come back on the Oilers, either.

I agree with slorch's No. 2, the Cooper Cougars would have two state football championships and the Houston Astros would win a world series.

1.) The Oilers don't blow the game vs. Buffalo

2.) The Astros win the Series in 1998. The sickest Astros team ever.

3.) At the expense of maybe both titles, Jordan never retires and the Rockets beat the Bulls WITH Jordan :) (could have happened, Rockets always played the Bulls tougher than anyone)

4.) The 1998 Katy Tigers...don't really need to explain that one.

5.) I attend the Air Force Academy like I should have

6.) Actually, ANY of the Astros playoff failures should make this list for me :)

7.) At the time I was only 5 and didn't really care, but I wish UH had won that title.

.4 seconds anyone? The Spurs could be working on a 4-peat this year.

Garrett Hartley would make "THE" field goal... :)

The Aggies would beat TU in the last reg. season game this year... effectively making them "better" than USC :)

i would have kept A&M an all male school and allowing more girls to come to UT so A&M would be a bigger laughing riot than they already are

I would have kept the whole 04 sv football team from getting to excited after anders blocked a punt for a touchdown in the state game (we lost our head and 2 plays later slc threw a long bomb for a td) if only if only

No, I was serious. I was joking about the "better than USC" part, but those are some things I would change.

That's the part I was talking about...
I knew that had to be a joke.
That would have been yet another case of aggy logic.
You would surprised...there are aggy out there that truly believe that.

The most outrageous Aggy comment I have seen this past weekend was, "If Reggie was quarterbacking Texas would have beaten USC by 20 pts."

Now do you see why it is hard to judge when an aggy is joking or not.

I'm not saying that all aggy are idiots. I'm just saying if you threw a sheep in Bryan/College Station...you would probably hit one.

Couldn't resist this thread!!

1) That punt would NOT have been blocked by the Katy defenders and Cy Falls would have gone on to the first state Semi-Final in school history.

2) That referee back in 1980 (the one they let out of the school for the blind) would have seen that Mike Renfro was CLEARLY in bounds and the Oilers would have been in the Super Bowl!

3) The Astros would have actually arrived at the field for the World Series games last year and become champs.

4) My mom or dad would have driven me to Tully Stadium or Rice Stadium to watch either the Dolphins or the Vikings practice for Super Bowl VIII...didn't matter which because my two heroes - Csonka and Tarkenton - were in MY town. They wouldn't do it which STILL shocks me as big a fans as they are/were.

5) Tarkenton would lead the Vikings to Victory in above mentioned game

6) Just a couple of weeks ago, Katy Taylor would have won the National Figure Skating championship - she is just too cute and a Katy girl to boot!

I probably have many others but I just woke up and the brain hasn't jump started completely.

Katy Taylor actually attends Mayde Creek in K.I.S.D. and Renfro DID catch that ball in bounds. That was the play that ushered in the Instant Replay era. The AFC Title game is too big a game to make that kind of mistake.

I like these selections. I actually got into Rice Stadium a day before the Super Bowl to look around the place. I had met a couple of Miami fans at a local club and drove them to the stadium to check it out. I was 17 and they got me into the club so I got them into the stadium. I coulda been in big trouble twice that weekend.

Wow - what could I possibly add Slorch - perfect job man.

Well, ok, let's get picky. UT beats Stoopslahoma in 2004 and VY and Co. win back to backs. But, I know you dislike the Horns - so I'll just call that wish an asterisk. No additions. to your list of 4.

Renfro was in bounds.

By "Katy" I meant the area of Katy, not the town or the high school. She goes to Mayde Creek but she is still a product of Katy and everyone is this area is very proud of her. Maybe she'll follow in Tara Lipinski's shoes - I mean - Skates. She still gets to go to the Olympics as a second alternate I believe. Oh, and her name is even spelled correctly!!

And, yes, he sure was in bounds...my husband knew him up at TCU and he said he was pretty pissed when he saw it on TV - he said that, being the trainer up there and watching the games up close and personal, he had seen him make many such catches and he knew that was a perfectly good, inbounds catch.

If Morelli had been the head ref on the Renfro play he would have made up a new rule after watching instant replay and called him out of bounds. That's what he did on the Polamalu int in Indy. Renfro was in and the Oilers should have won - who won the NFC that year - LA Rams or Dallas? I'm almost positive big D was in and that was the year Jackie Smith dropped the easy TD.

Speaking of that - make Jackie catch the ball and Dallas beats the nasty Steelers.
