I am going with Trinity in this one. They are not quite as big as usual, but still are big. They are probably the fastest sideline to sideline team they have ever had. Just as Carter. A huge stable of backs and receivers will wear out the Bingham boys. The top backs played little, if any, in the scrimmage, yet they dominated Carter. Size is comparable to Bingham, but I think they will outmuscle them in the trenches. You all know how physical Trinity plays, which will be a factor. From pre game Haka to post game Haka it should be Trinity.

Bingham is the #1 team in Utah!!
That might be true. However, they did not really dominate a so-so team first game. Neither the running or passing games were that great against a middle rated team.

I think this Utah team is gonna brang it! If you go to their website, then you will see they are equally equipped as any Texas team. They seem to be up with the times as any Texas team as well. They might actually out size us on the line as well. I hate to say it, but I think the rest of the country is quickly catching up with Texas in Football. I still think Texas is the best, but I believe due to the availability of information; everyone is quickly catching up. Until I see us actually play, it's hard to say anything. Not Sandbagging, but in my opinion; to even be in the top 10 our guys are going to really have to reach down. As others have said, I think we probably have the fastest team we have ever seen at Euless Trinity. The thing I really like is that it seems that our Coaches have not seemed to have rested on the laurels of our recent success.

Feelthehaka hit the nail on the head. Until we play a game or two...or three...we really don't know what we have this year. Too many new faces and too little experience. And don't underestimate Bingham. They are very good, well-coached ,have a lot of tradition and already have two games under their belt to work out any early season problems. Trinity will have to have a heck of a game to match up with them.

The HAKA that I saw this spring was pretty much the same as last year except the Cocker Kid leading it was far more intense than last year - He was almost Kautai-like in his delivery. :D I have not seen one yet since then. Trinity had a nice scrimmage against Carter. But, let's keep things in perspective. Carter is a 4A program that was clobbered by an unranked Klein Forest team last weekend 51 - 28. I would be very worried if Trinity didn't perform well against Carter....

Should be a challenging game.
Bingham looks as physical as any team we've had at Trinity and they will outsize our current lineup by a fair margin. The victory over Alta will have burgeoned their confidence after dispatching Utah's veteran 2 time state champs, hopefully it'll be them who's guilty of over-confidence and not our squad.
Gap control will be extremely important, I expect we'll incorporate a fancy package of stunts to offset their size advantage like Alta did last week. They have a big target in #88 who's lethal in the playaction package and their big back Langi is a load when he gets a full head of steam. They lost a couple of key skill players so depth might be a question for them.
They're extremely difficult to run against. Their front 7 looked very good. If they have a weakness it's their secondary in man coverage, their zone is fairly decent tho.
They got behind Alta 28-14 at the half after giving up a pick 6 at their own 30. The Second half they went to a zone that seemed to throw Alta's rythym out of sync and they started to find room outside as Alta was overloading the inside with a steady dose of run blitz's. Alta scored on a hail mary in gargabe time to close the score to 38-34, but Bingham squeezed them in the 2nd half with vintage Trinity ball.
I know coach Lineweaver will have put together a great game plan against these guys.
I can't wait till monday

You really couldn't ask for a better first game for Trinity. They play the same style of football, which allows the boys to get into their rhythm and gain confidence. There shouldn't be anything too fancy that they have not been doing in practice. I was pretty satisfied with what I saw in the scrimmage. The speed and skill positions are coming along at a good pace. Yeah yeah, Bingham has two games/wins under their belt. But, I really don't feel they have had to meet what Trinity brings. We need everybody out to support the boys in showing out of staters what Texas football has to offer. Now is the time to back it up with action and support. Believe NO rumors. Come out and see the action to back it all up!!;):D

My opinion of the game:
Our secondary; HELP! We play a bend, but don't break. It sure does make me nervous. I think we underestimated Bingham's passing game. I know I did. Luckily we have an overabundance of speed and depth in the secondary. Also, the kids back there are smart, and I have faith they will adjust. First game rust I hope?
For a first game, and first game being a high pressure game in unfamiliar territory; I am impressed! I knew we would have the fastest team we ever have, but I didn't realize that fast! Our size is better than I thought as well.
Hubbard is going to be a great QB! Overall, I am now excited about the season ahead! Tevin Williams was great, and only a Junior!
Bingham played well. The thing that surprised me is how well they defended the spread! They were definately ready for it. I think we may be witnessing the beginning of the ending of the spread offense. Especially, if an out of state team can pick it up that quickly. The TDs they scored on us were legit, and some guys in our secondary got burned!
The Bingham fans were great, and I hope they enjoyed their experience! They brought a lot of people. I didn't appreciate it when our fans started singing the na na na hey hey goodbye song. Bad sportsmanship in my opinion!
Now for Jerrydome. Getting in there was a whip! I left plenty early, even took a way I would think many people would, and sat in traffic over an hour trying to get in. It was ridiculous. No Signage on where to go! In my opinion, the police that were there needed to be directing traffic! One could tell that they didn't want to be there! Standing in line for tickets, another whip! That was another 35 minutes! In this day and age, things like this should be worked out better. Just like Texas Stadium, not enough staffing!
I just couldn't take the loud gauntlet of commercials and advertising! I know why Jerrytron was built now! Jerrytron was great for replays! I will say that. You don't miss anything. I thought the camera work for the game was great as well. It was just the loud commercials that were annoying! My ears were ringing leaving the place from the loud commercials and music!
I didn't like the lack of scoreboard. I like to look up, and see things like the score, timeouts left, what quarter, how many yds. to the first down. They only show this on Jerrytron between the commercials!
To be honest, I'm just as well to watch a game in Texas Stadium. My opinion. Sorry bout the whining! Also, I hate how we're rushed off the field at the end for the next game! We didn't even play our school song!

I'm not defending Jerry -
the commericals were due to being on TV. none of that would have happened if it were a regular game. Shame Shame on you for buying your tickets at the gate and depriving ET of the money;) I didn't like the loud noise at the end depriving us of hearing the final HAKA. They did play the school song at the end but it was later and off to the side - we couldn't hear it because of the aforementioned background noise. I too wonder about the phantom Score board. We couldn't hear the hey hey goodbye song. I think the crowd needs some practice on the 1-2-3- first down cheer ,we were spread out too far and we had trouble locating our fearless leader, but I think we adjusted well and will improve as the season goes on. .
Amazing lack of penalties by the Trojans considering it was the first game of the season.
Bingham played well, considering the long trip. Tough guys -
Ol' Bobby Brown got a lot of exposure, hopefully they can rest him once in a while.
Tevin Williams holds several Stadium Records ( Pro College and HS ) for yards and TDs

Bingham ran the spread themselves, so of course they know how to defend it.
Also, a great majority of the nation runs the spread, it's not just a Texas thing.

For the Trinity offense, I have 3 things to say:
- Tevin Williams :notworthy
- Bobby Brown :notworthy
- Hubbard :notworthy
For Bingham, that Anderson #9 was mighty fast! they looked to be a pretty decent team, had mo' sucked away with that 15 yarder when they were driving, but I think the outcome would have been similar.
Other than that, Trinity D was plenty good, with some secondary issues that need to be worked out. Tevin Williams is going to have the offers pouring in.
A very impressive performance out of the gate, congrats Trojans....:notworthy

Living in Florida for 4 years it seemed like about 50% of the High schools I saw were running the Spread or some version of the spread.
I'm back in Virginia now and the Spread is very popular here among the High Schools.
The one State that I've seen a few games over the years that sticks to old school offensive sets is Georgia. Many of the High Schools down in Georgia are still running the Wing-T.

I just wish they ran the new venue as well slick as they did for the Trinity Southlake game! I remember it well. Waiting in line and not moving for 45 minutes on the freeway while it seemed as though one guy took cash and made change for the whole stadium while standing in the road.
Then in a flash of desperation I pulled out of my hard earned place in line and floor boarded the throttle in that 4 cylinder Corolla. With a crazed look and eyes darting back and forth for some option ANY OPTION to get me in that &*^%$% stadium before kickoff.
As Texas Stadium got smaller in my rear view mirror I began to calculate my walking speed versus the distance which was growing larger by the second.
I wound up in some parking lot down the freeway along with other survivors(I felt like Shelly Winters ala 'The Poseidon adventure').
Briskly and sternly I walked away from my 180,000 mile jewel of dependability knowing it was safe. Too crappy to be stolen and not worth enough to rescue from the pound I soon forgot it and focused on power walking controlling each breath for maximum efficiency.
As the great distance was being put behind me I passed ordinary fools with unnecessary baggage such as bleacher chairs, blankets, purses and children.
Upon setting foot on Jerry's House of Stench parking lot I glanced at my watch, "I HAVE TIME". Just then I looked upwards from my deliberate steps only to see the sea of humanity trying to get in. It looked like the bread line in post apocalyptic America.
Drawing near and calculating the throngs versus the clock I realized I wasnt going to make it.
Then I knew I had to break the Cardinal rule of all rules in footballfandometiquette. And that is cut in line. Yes, I was that guy. I was that desperate. Squeezing through the final narrow breadth of my hourglass adventure I trotted the final yards to the nearest breezeway and seeing the field come into view the players were on the field and seconds later, the kickoff. I had made it. I had MADE IT!!!:):):)

Wow, I know it is your opinion and normally I'd agree with you on most things but from my prospective:
Tap the brakes on the secondary, remember that their O-line did a great job blocking and it was of course blown coverage. It's a young team and plenty of time to work out the mistakes.
I didn't hear any fans singing but I did see many Trinity fans cheering for the good play of Bingham when it was deserved.
Jerry's World was not perfect but way way way better experience than Texas Stadium! Come early when you don't like to wait. Buy your tickets at the school early. Didn't wait in a line in or out of the stadium in my car.
The veiw from my seat was perfect. I felt I was in the best seat in the house but as I walked around to different ares I realized that this stadium is real special. Most of the seats have a gret view.
Jumbotron:
I did wish for a scoreboard but the jumbotron made up for it! Replays, comercials I'll take it if it come with this package! No whining from me, no way, I had a great time!!
The game:
I was quietly pleased with what I saw, a better measuring stick will come next week with Cedar Hill.
Trinity faced a strong D-line with Bingham and most of the time they handled it pretty well controling the line of scrimmage.
The O-line had some players that had some definite size & did anyone notice the rotation used throughout the game? Trinity used 9 offensive linemen.
Cocker 6'2" 299 and Lea'aetoa 6'3" 295 were dominate and Eteaki is another in a long line of great centers.
The WR's did a nice job and are the fastest we have had individually and as a group. Carter was going to be our QB before is broken leg but he is a very good WR that has great speed and good hands. I'll even give him props for a pancake block as well! Bobby Brown must have every college in america thinking of coming to Euless. I don't agree with him playing both ways but when a guy runs 4.??? you need him out there. He was playing CB and WR/RB. We have many other good WR's waiting on their turn so I hope Coach Lineweaver doesn't let him get tired & give him plenty of breaks.
RB's everyone knows we have some good ones and Tevin Williams did a great job. Hart will be a great asset at FB but I wished we could have seen more of Shaquile Edwards because he has speed to burn!
D-Line It totallly confused me to see us come out to start the game with several backups in there. I'll bet there was a good reason for it and I trust Lineweaver has things well in control. The D-line was spactacular at times and we played a 9 guy rotation here with no drop-off! We have increduble depth!
LB's We have some hard hitting wild men playing LB!! Olie, Moeakiola & Yenga were outstanding. Yenga plays as a DE as well.
Secondary Hard for me to grade, they did get burned but the whole package with run support was really good overall. They gave great speed but will need more coaching in some areas.
Overall Trinity played pretty well and I think some of the sand is starting to settle.:D

Great job Trinity!
Loved being able to see the first high school game in the new stadium in person.
Bobby, great job dude, although he must be one tired guy, starting offense, defense and special teams, he was on the field the whole day.
Tevin, as always, great job, knew you would be.
Willie, great job, little shakey, but hey, it's the first game of the season.

All in all, great team this year I think, had a great defense today as well as running game and passing game.
Now let's see what we can do against Cedar Hill and Alan.

Trinity, congrats on a good first game. Way to represent Texas. I thought Bingham would start out fast and Trinity would build as the game went on (since it was Trinity's first game and Bingham's third game). Trinity is the one who started fast and controlled most of the game. #9 for Bingham looked like a player with some speed. He had no fear when fielding punts/kicks. Reminded me of McKay Jacobson (SLC/BYU) except he played DB when not fielding kicks.
The stadium was nice. I agree with missing the scoreboard. I thought it was just me. The replays were great. I don't remember them replaying "questionable" plays in the past like they did today.
It was a mess buying tickets today. They sent you to the other side of the stadium and then had long lines. The lines said will call/purchase on the boards but then had a handwritten sign that said purchase only. You couldn't see the handwritten sign until you had already been in line for 20 minutes and they you had to go to another line. I heard several people upset when they had to go to another line. Once you got your tickets, you had to walk 1/4 way around the stadium to get in.
All in all, a much better site than Texas Stadium.

I am kind of surprised that Lineweaver has not brought his son over from SLC. Anybody have any insight into that? I would think Trinity would have some turnover in coaching as coaches are hired away due to Trinity's success.
Does anybody know how they decided which teams would play in the Classic? It seems like they could have showcased some stronger teams. I would have liked to have seen a top 10 team playing the Cali team. Klein Oak is hanging tough at the half but I don't think they will be able to keep up the second half. I hope they prove me wrong.

The game:
I was quietly pleased with what I saw, a better measuring stick will come next week with Cedar Hill.
ditto
Trinity faced a strong D-line with Bingham and most of the time they handled it pretty well controling the line of scrimmage.
Understatement of the year. Their DT's Tausinga and Fuanuku (Ex-Trinity) were monsters. Intentionally I believe we got them gassed so they weren't nearly as effective on that last drive in the 4th quarter where we went back to our signature power ground game. We were slightly guilty of this last year with Pauni and Tuipulotu and certainly Bingham were guilty too of player over-utilisation...thus fatigue.
The O-line had some players that had some definite size & did anyone notice the rotation used throughout the game? Trinity used 9 offensive linemen.
Cocker 6'2" 299 and Lea'aetoa 6'3" 295 were dominate and Eteaki is another in a long line of great centers.
A good mixture of power and finesse. Overall quickness has certainly improved, especially a relatively svelt Cocker who's shed 30lbs and consequently moves exceptionally well. really impressed at how well they fought to sustain difficult blocks...Eteaki had an especially difficult assignment and although he came out 2nd in most exchanges he blocks 2nd level very well.
The WR's did a nice job and are the fastest we have had individually and as a group. Carter was going to be our QB before is broken leg but he is a very good WR that has great speed and good hands. Tell me, doesn't bobby remind you of the incomparable Samir Baker? Also really happy with downfield blocking by everyone.
RB's everyone knows we have some good ones and Tevin Williams did a great job. Hart will be a great asset at FB but I wished we could have seen more of Shaquile Edwards because he has speed to burn!
I agree. I can't wait to see Edwards get an open look at some daylight. He didn't get any designed plays go his way when he did get in. The wait continues
D-Line It totallly confused me to see us come out to start the game with several backups in there. I'll bet there was a good reason for it and I trust Lineweaver has things well in control. The D-line was spactacular at times and we played a 9 guy rotation here with no drop-off! We have increduble depth!
Indeed, suprised not to see Masubuko or Young start, especially against so much beef, but one thing I've learned is never 2nd guess coach T. Perhpas none other is singulaly responsible for the remarkable and recent turnaround in Trinity's identity as a hard hitting swarming defense which hit a rutt through the the earlier part of this decade after the 01 team. Initimidating defense is as much a mantra as it is a personification of it's coach...Coach T.
LB's We have some hard hitting wild men playing LB!! Olie, Moeakiola & Yenga were outstanding. Yenga plays as a DE as well.
Easily the strength of this current Defense. Where last year that award went to the DL or the DB's when Eryon was healthy
Secondary Hard for me to grade, they did get burned but the whole package with run support was really good overall. They gave great speed but will need more coaching in some areas.
Run support good, especially when they upended the big Langi kid. But like shades of many Trinity opponents, guilty of starring too long into the backfield.
Overall Trinity played pretty well and I think some of the sand is starting to settle.:D

Why would they want to? Trinity is such a terrific atmosphere to be in general. Plus the coaches have the autonomy to do their job without a head coach that rules like a tyrant. They work with, arguably, the best high school staff assembled in the state and they are winning. The last assistant that left (after 2005) won a total of five games in three season if memory serves me correctly and just left this last year. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Klein Oak was chosen this year because last year they were supposed to play in it, but their game vs. a Louisiana team was cancelled to do a hurricane. Didn't get to play in Texas Stadium last year :( but got to play in the new stadium this year  ...I'd take that!
