View Full Version : The Little SWC....

Since the UIL has clearly stated that no district will have less than 7 teams, it looks like 2-5A and 3-5A will be merging (Amarillo Palo Duro and Plainview just do not have enough students yet). Abilene and Cooper will be moving to a Metroplex district. The question i have is how are they going to schedule the games? Will they have 9 teams or 10? San Angelo Central may actually get moved to another district. If SAC comes back, then I'm pretty sure there won't be 9 district games. Will they setup the Little SWC like the Big 12 in football? And how would playoff spots be awarded? Anyone have any ideas about the 10 team district setup?

I'm betting that they just move SAC back in the LSWC.

Moving San Angelo back home with the original Little SWC teams would be great, but that only leaves 5 teams in the Lubbock-Amarillo area and I don't believe the UIL is going to have a 5 team district this time around.
A 10 team district would either play 9 district games with the top 4 teams advancing to the playoffs, or the 10 teams could be zoned into a north/south configuration (Amarillo and Lubbock schools in the north and Midland-Odessa-San Angelo in the south) and the top two teams from each zone would advance to the playoffs.
