yeah it has been a good game thus far. West is leading 21-7. UT Tight End David Thomas scored a TD.

Reggie McNeal is putting on a good show in the Shrine game. I think he jumped his NFL draft stock alot with a good week of practice (news reports) and how he looked in the game ( MVP).

That's great for Reggie McNeal.. :)

PS. Probably worked himself into a Day 1 NFL pick. I'll say 3rd round..

What was the final score?

35-31 West...Reggie scored on the final drive almost too quickly but hte West D saved them with just a few seconds left when the East had the ball on the 1, ready to score. Reggie promised a win if the defense held up before he went back in in the end and he delivered...very good showing on his part, IMHO.

Reggie did OK. Appel had a bad game. The Baylor CB was toasted often. Carter made a good catch.

Dave Thomas was wide open for a TD.

Hendo was awesome until they pulled him. Whitley was solid at OL. Slay didn't do too much but had a couple of hits and an East WR short armed a catch to avoid getting hit by Slay.

All in all a good day for the Big 12 South.

Quincy Butler had a good game. He wasn't Big 12 but signed with Tech coming out of HS but didn't qualify, went the JUCO route, tried to get back to Tech but wasn't needed by that time. He struggled as a JR for TCU but had a good SR year. I think he gets drafted.

Daniel Manning (Abilene Christian) had a very good game at DB. He would of probably been All-Big 12 if he would of stayed at Nebraska.

T. Henderson did a good job of running the ball. He gained positive yardage and ran hard. He'll be drafted in the mid-rounds.

EJ Whitley had a great day. Everytime I watched him he was blowing some dude over. He'll make a very good NFL player (IMO).

J. Appel got roasted "left & right" and wiffed on several tackles. I've always thought he was over-rated for the amount of press-time he got. I'm not sure Appel would of been on UT 2-deep roster.

The LB from Texas Southern is going to be drafted. That kid can flat play and fly around.

PS. David Thomas is going to be a very good NFL player. He'll be some teams #2 or #3 receiver.

Oh ya.... Reggie McNeal worked himself into at least a (3rd Round pick) I think .....

"J. Appel got roasted "left & right" and wiffed on several tackles. I've always thought he was over-rated for the amount of press-time he got. I'm not sure Appel would of been on UT 2-deep roster." Agree and I just don't get it, especially in his fourth year.

not one to defend the dead dogs, but Appel was hurt most of Senior year.
That isn't to say anybody else played hurt...draw your own conclusion:D

A lot of people have been saying that Appel is a liability in the A&M secondary, and I wholeheartedly disagree. He was a great Aggie and teh emotional leader of the defense. He palyed all year through injury and still managed to clean up mistakes made by new corners, LB's, and DB's. He was in my opinion, the only person in the A&M secondary I would trust to make a tackle. He did not play very well in teh shrine game, and he is a bit slow, but I still think he'll be a mid-late round draft pick.

appel is too slow to be a safety and too small to be a linebacker. He would be an excellent special teams player. If not drafted, he will definitely get a shot.

Appel is slow and he takes bad angles. If you watched the aggy/iowa state game. He could have tackled Blythe(the one who torched aggy) a few times, he just took some bad angles and couldn't hit him.

Other then that he is not that bad, for aggy.

You got to love Appel's heart and toughness, but he doesn't really have a future in the NFL. He's not even considered a draft prospect really, but he could get some shots in the free agent market.

Appel is 6'0 198 which is a little on the small side for a safety in the NFL. Throw in the fact that he struggles to run a sub-4.7 40 and his pro prospects are pretty dim. The guy is a LB in a CBs body. Hopefully he will land somewhere because the guy does play with a lot of heart.

I have to STRONGLY object to that one!

Bates was still a big time player in the SEC. 10 years from now, if Appel has a position created for him in the ProBowl, I will agree with you.

I dont see Appel making the NFL. I hope he does,,, but dont see it. I think he's to slow. If he was a tad faster then he might have a better shot.

Mcneal played a great game, and showed some of why he was highly sought out of high school. The right team and good coaching and Reggie will do fine in the NFL. The only thing the draft rounds give you are more money, it,s what you do when you get your chance. Just because you have a good college career, does not make you a impact player at the next level.Just look at all the qb,s that were #1,s and look what happen too them. Everyone thniks Vince will be a big time player, and I hope he does, but he is going to struggle a few year when he hits the NFL, he has a few flaws to get rid of.

I think Tom Brady was a 6th round pick.
