Congratulations Plano, you outplayed Trinity all game long.

As Vince Vaughn Said in Swingers. "You grows, you grows, you all grows up" your so money and you don't even know it.!!

Keep your heads high. 2010 looks bright. For you seniors, you fought and fought and never quit where most programs would starting off 1-5. All of you should be very proud.

No matter what last nights outcome, this team came together and played as well as could possibly have been expected.
Showed a lot of heart and grit and just came up a bit short.

Congratulations Wildcats for a great season. I am already looking forward to next year as I believe it will truly be something special.

I just don't see Hughes going anywhere- no matter how bad West does this year. Plano couldn't get rid of Brence. East can't lose Ringo. I'm afraid Hughes will be at West for many more years to come.

I know West is going through some rebuilding in 2010. But, why so much gloom and doom??

Now that I have no personal ties to anyone on the team, I can afford to be a bit less biased.

We've lost all of our playmakers on offense and defense.. Combined with lousy playcalling and constant discipline problems that have existed for a while. Last season was suppose to be "the year." The JV team was horrible.

I'll be happy when we get a coach who comes in and changes the football culture at West. it's sort of pathetic. It wouldn't surprise me if our boy's basketball attendance was close to our exceeded out football attendance. Coach Morgan came in and changed the culture and we sell out most of our basketball games now and travel well. If you look at Plano Sr, football is a HUGE deal there. I'm sure the right man could make it somewhat like that at West (not as much. We don't have as large of an alumni base to draw upon or any state titles.) West usually sells out their side for their homecoming football game, so there is some hope for the future in terms of attendance. It's just a change of culture that is needed badly.

As much as I loved my years at West and hope for them to do well, I can't honestly say they'll be anything less than horrible this year.

I don't know about much about Lewisville's team. I checked the stats and it looks like they have a young and coming QB (DeAndre Grimes) and they get back two of their top 3 WRs as well as their leading RB.

We lost basically every playmaker that we had and they were being replaced with a JV team that wasn't even competitive half the time.

Yes Lewisville does have some quality kids coming back and the skill players are set I am just worried about the line and the defense. I know that the kids over there are hungry and doing everything they can tto prove everybody wrong. We will just wait and see. Its going to be a tough road for all teams in this district but some teams will have it tougher than others. A few early wins would be huge for the confidence for teams such as East, West and Lewisville as would a couple great defensive performances from teams like FM and Marcus

Too lazy to recheck, but is the new place to open in 2012? If true, and we seem to have a 2 year home and home series going, we wouldn't have a matchup in the new place until 2013.

Those first four games for the Suck are brutal. If you guys come out of those 4-0 then look out world. Allen, Hebron, FM and Marcus to open up district is as tough as it could possibly be, the only thing that would make it tougher is if you guys were going on the road for all 4 instead of 3 of those 4. Any time I see a Husker hat or t-shirt I
ask them about the Burkster. They have all
had something great to say about him. I add
my adulation's and they are quite surprised
that a "rival" would say so many good things about

From DMN:

Q: Can Plano parlay its late 2009 success into a 2010 run?

A: Tradition-rich Plano had a down season last year in finishing 5-7, but that doesn’t tell the Wildcats’ entire story. Plano was a much-better team in the second half of 2009 as its young athletes grew up. That was never more evident than when Plano took eventual state-champion Euless Trinity to the wire in the second round of the playoffs before losing, 41-38, at Cowboys Stadium. This spring, Plano will look to build on its late 2009 success with the return of six starters on each side of the ball, including quarterback Conner Michelsen. Plano returns four three-year starters and its back seven on defense will be fierce. Plano will still be relatively young and will benefit from a JV team that won district and finished 8-2 a year ago.

What is it about the first play of the game, long TD run? It happened with Temple, iMac, JEsuit, and a few others last year. Same thing last night, 73 yd draw.

Just found this article from Vype on the web regarding game-by-game predictions for the Wildcats 2010 season. Vype predicts a 9-1 season for the Cats. Interesting how accurate their predictions have been for the first two games.

Plano's strenght by far is its defense. gthe Mansfield Legacy game was a snoozer. No consistent running game, offensive formations way to predictable what they will run once they line up a certain way. Sorry to say this get a little pressure on Michelson with blitzs etc. and he doesn't respond real well.

If I was Allen in two weeks I would send the kitchen sink on every play especialy in Plano's pass formations.

Good news is we are pretty darn good in blocking kicks we have 4 or 5 already this year & Plano's defense in an age of spread offenses is pretty darn good. With May & Skinner clogging the middle and strong secondary and very good Linebackers who are fast and can cover they will stay in every game no doubt.

Very interested to see how they do returning to the scene of the last years embarrsement. I will be there to see. Because "I HATE ALLEN COME LATELYS" Talk about stealing a blue-print Plano should sue for copyright infringement.

Simple that pit you call a stadium is a diease ridden pie hole. Rusty nails protruding from the rotting wooden seats on the visitors side. Not to mention the sanatation issues resulting from the portapotties. Finally have you been to your concession stands? I can't understand why the health department hasn't shut them down for numerous violations. Totally disgusting.

Remember, Plano does it right and Allen just gets by.

Gotta admit everything you said is pretty much the truth. Still, look at what happens on these fields. I'll take a winning team on a lousy field over a mediocre team on a nice field any day.At least we now have Dr. Pepper at those concession stands. Hey that's right, you haven't been to Allen's field for a while. We now have a nicer concession stand (actually clean and functional) with restroom facilities on the north end of the field. Since this will be our Freshmen facility we decided to improve it somewhat. I expect it to be one of the best Freshmen only fields around and then with the new coliseum we will be set. I assume you have already seen our basketball, baseball, softball, tennis, and swimming facilities that are far better than anything Plano has to offer. And that not to mention the dedicated band practice field with astroturf and stadium lights. Maybe we aren't there yet, but we are definately on our way. Quality in every respect.

Some interesting information from Planofootball.com:

Chasing win No. 715
by Brian Porter on October 1, 2010 in '10 Fall Season

The second try to collect win No. 715 will take place tonight as Plano (3-1, 0-1) hosts Hebron (3-1, 1-0) at Tom Kimbrough Stadium in Murphy. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

Plano defeated Hebron, 41-28, in the first meeting between the teams in 2008 for its 699th victory and won last season’s meeting, 31-30. This time it will mean more as it will be a District 8-5A game.

A Plano victory would put it in a tie for the all-time Class 5A wins lead. Amarillo (3-2) is sitting on win No. 715, but is on a bye this week. Amarillo (715), Highland Park (725) and Plano (714) are the only schools to have won at least 700 games. Highland Park is the Class 4A wins leader.

Great job by the "D" last night. The offense started out slow and that needs to change, but if the defense can stay the course, this could shape up as a great year.

Question on a past players for Plano fans in the know. I know the Rex Burkhead is at Nebraska, right? Is he a sophomore?

Also I remember watching the awesome kicker Plano had same time Rex was playing. He could put it through the uprights on the kick offs and still have distance to spare. I forget his name and can you tell me where he landed in college?

Thanks much.

Rex Burkhead is a sophmore at Nebraska. Here is some info on Rex:

Plano has had some awesome kickers in the past. Bobby Schattle was probably one of the best we've had. He played with Rex on the 2005 team. Schattle is at St. Mary (KS). Bryce Eckeberger played on the 2007 and 2008 teams, but I have no college info on him. Grant Pierce was Plano's kicker on the 2009 team, and he is at Missouri-S&T.

Thanks for the info. We lived in Plano for 21 years and I was fortunate to have been introduced to the best HS football I saw to date in 86 and 87 when Steve Needham helped Plano win state back to back . . . my daughter was a Junior and Senior those two years. Plano to me is the definition of Texas HS football. My three children graduated from Plano.

I now live in Euless and have the good fortune again to route for one of the now best teams and programs ever, The Trinity Trojans. Different than Plano in a many ways but can they play footbal and Coach Lineweaver is simply one of the best all time . . . person and coach. My grandson now goes to Trinity and is playing baseball there.

I am torn when Plano and Trinity meet up in the Playoffs. One thing for sure when they do meet, we all know it will be one of the best HS games we will watch all year, no matter who wins.

Thanks again and good luck to the Wildcats. Beat East. Here's hoping we have another Trinity - Plano match up in November/December at Jerry World this year. :) Doesn't get much better than that.

Very disappointed by the final score. I would of bet the house that Plano would not of given up 62 against them. Many things were working against the cats on Friday. My expectations were they were to run the table after beating Hebron so convincingly.

The true mettle of this team is to get back up and go back on the road against a very good marcus team and win. Lets see how the defense does against a team that runs 95% of the time. We haven't be able to shut down a running team in 3 years since the 07 team.

Should never have gotten drawn in to playing FM's game instead of Plano ball.
That along with penalties and poor kick coverage did in the Cats.

#28 for FMM is a hoss. He'll take 20 handoff's 5 yards deep from Deion and bounce from the 6 hole all the way out to the 7 hole on the other side. Kid is a great runner but its all about gang tackling. Get them in long D&D and you guys win. ;)

I am officially out for the year. Yes that's right no more Mr Ulmer to discuss the finer points of 8-5A. Some of you will smile, I know. Regardless when you lose to FLOMO and their defense its time to question some coaching. Sat thru 3 1/2 hours of that mess at Clark and just when you think Plano will take care of business they F UP and lose to freaking FLOMO and their mighty might defense. No offense to FLOMO, however that is embarrassing, in my eyes.

Play-off team update 8-5A Allen, Hebron, Marcus, West. Great game by West & Marcus tonight, both will make it. Confidence in a young mans mind is a great thing. Plano has none. They are finding ways to lose and expect to lose. Doubt has set in and it ain't going away. Hopefully, Plano can manage 5-5. Unfortunately I don't think that is going to happen. So Brence our all mighty Plano AD that continues to suck the life force from the Plano Program.

I know now that the only way for Plano to get back on top is a complete removal of Brence from all things PISD. Can he possibly retire early and go back to OK? Maybe a October Exorcism. Maybe the Plano faithful can have a seance to conjure the Plano legacy of the past because its dead and gone as long as GB is around. He is the ANTI-Christ to Plano football.

I am going to get drunk, next year, is a new year and I will see everyone in August.

By the way all you Ethan Allen's can still SUCK IT all year long. You guys ain't winning squat except a district championship and maybe a PCC, BIG WOO!!

Take care and have fun. I AM OUT!!

Looks like the Wildcats are not the Wildcats of old this year. It happens and since I don't live there anymore, I have no real clue as to why, except maybe a total depletion of talent due to the central part of Plano getting much older and the east and west still getting the influx of new families and lots of kids. I read Steve Ulmer's post and understand the frustration.

See my kids grew up in Plano. We lived there for 21 years from 85 - 05. All graduated from Plano and I had the thrill and joy of going to most games and playoff games with my daughter in '86 and '87 when Plano won state back to back. The Steve Needham years and one of my son's best friends Mike Nelson was the QB the year they lost to Judson I think it was. Nelson, a great kid, went on to North Western and played on their championship team in the Rose Bowl.

Plano will always be special to my wife and me as well as my kids. And I knew many of the young boys growing up as I coached baseball and soccer there for 8 years.

Anyway, most know I now live in Euless and have adopted the Trojans as my home team. They have a great program and coach. Still, I am a true Plano Wildcat fan and always will be. I still have two pretty old paws in my garage I keep pinned to my workbench wall. I remember when Plano played Trinity, maybe 3-4 years ago at Cowboy stadium. I knew it would be a great game and even with Rex Burkhead's unbelievable abilities Trinity ended up the victor. Awesome game.

Partially my post is to give my distant past and present Plano brethren something to feel very good about, since it looks like many need it right now. Many of you may already know Rex personally, many of your may not.

He is turning into a real star at Nebraska and he's one I have watched grow more and more every year. He will be playing on Sunday in the coming years. What a perfect example of what Plano football is all about. I'm sure he's not the only player like this to come out of Plano Senior High but here is an awesome article I received from a friend on another forum who is a Nebraska alum and avid Burkhead fan. How could anyone not be a fan of this young man.

ENJOY and keep a stiff upper lip Plano Wildcat fans. :notworthy:notworthy It will come around again.

I would like to add my sentiment also. Moved to Texas in 97, and really didnt get into the highschool football scene until changing jobs allowed me to. What I love about Plano football is the loyalty and tradition, two things I think have gone to the waste side in out society. As to Burkhead, he is my favorite player of all time, including any kid from Allen with a close second going to Tucker Carter. I remember reading the article about his family, and they are to be commended for raising such a great young man. His brother wasnt too shabby either. Hope to see him on Sunday. He looks like a Patriot kinda guy. I know sometimes I give Ulmer a hard time, but honestly, he asks for it. Usually what I say is just friendlly banter.
