usc qbs? the jets bought and way over paid for the hype that is mark sanchez. he looks completely over-matched. he wasn't well-prepared at the shrine that pete maintained. the cast around the busts make them look a lot better than they are. sanchez will have a phantom injury about game 6 when they are 1-5 and he will never start again. too bad it wasn't philly that made this screw-up.

I was disappointed too when I opened the thread and it wasn't about Notre Dame...or Ohio State. But I guess since this is in the NFL Discussion and everything...

But to answer your question dragons...

Carson is the only one who has really lived up to the hype recently. Leinhart was a bust and John David Booty was drafted in the 5th round, so no hype there really. Sanchez...well, I think he can be develop into an outstanding backup at best. If he can prove me wrong than good for him.

I think the question is...are USC players in general overrated? :D

1. List college teams I hate...
2. List pro teams I hate...
3. Generalize a relationship between 1 and 2...
4. Post ever more generalized question on pro board...even though it's a college board question...
5. Win???

Man, I can't believe a rookie looked bad in a pre-season game. What were the Jets thinking?

Yeah, they should have drafted somebody from the Big 12. Those guys are great.

He was picked up very early by the Jets and paid very well. I think it's working out for him so far.

that would assume that there were other busts besides him and chrissy. i still have hope for colt. and chrissy never got the espn/nfl man-love that sc qbs get.

no doubt.

listening to the announcers raving about mark sanchez was a little tough to watch, but i guess they had nothing else to talk about. but when vince young declared, every single ut fan on this board was basically proclaiming vince a first ballott hall of famer. the most noise he's made since ROTY has been him running away and his momma getting the amber alert going. he and leinart might go down as some of the biggest busts of all time, and i'll be laughing the whole time at both of them.

Who has been a recent USC NFL QB bust besides Matt Leinart? JD Booty was drafted in the 5th round with no hype. Anything more than a couple years as a backup is gravy for a 5th round QB. Oh, that's right, Mark Sanchez has seen action as a rookie in a couple preseason games, and he didn't look all-world, so he is already a bust....

i have a hunch, and a tin foil hat, and you can say i told you so, but so can i. maybe with some good coaching, wait, he's with the jets. never mind.

I was thinking more recently, but I sure am glad Tampa Bay picked Ricky Bell instead of Tony Dorsett.

That sounds reasonable to me.

The question is are they overrated and I would say yes. Keep in mind these guys get rated really high most years and that is the point. (R. Bush, L. White, Matt L., etc... ) If you go back to 2003 with Carson Palmer and Troy Polamalu... you find a couple of really good ones.
