The scrimmage @ Pennington Friday was Trinity and Dallas Carter.
Amazingly Trinity did get enough player to suit up and I believe we have plenty of seniors to fill out a roster despite the fact that it has been said the Trinity doesn't have much coming back.
Trinity looked good in the uniforms (just a little small compared to some of the Carter boys) but I couldn't make out much more since there was a sandstorm that kept me from getting a good look at the action on the field.
Some of the Trinity boys need to go to the barber since they looked like they missed a couple of trips in the past.
My hats off to Carter for wanting to mix it up with Trinity even when it doesn't count! All my respet to the Carter Cowboys and good luck this year!
It was fun!

At the scrimmage, the booster club didn't hand out a roster so most of the time we didn't know who was who. Not even sure of the QB's name.
That was a heck of a sand storm Friday evening!

I'll get to see all of the Sub-Varsity teams playing us in addition to seeing the big boys at Cowboy Stadium. You guys have a good crowd.........we enjoyed you last year.

Someone forgot to tell the Startlegram to keep quiet :D
from this morning's paper
"This season, the Trojans will lean on junior running back Tevin Williams, who rushed for nearly 1,100 yards and 20 touchdowns in 2008, new dual-threat quarterback Willie Hubbard and veteran offensive and defensive lines."

So is Hubbard #18 from last year's JV or someone else?

I'm thrown a bit by the "veteran offensive and defensive line" reference......that's a stretch, to say the least. Hubbard was a back-up on the varsity last year, I think.

It WAS fun. Good to see the kids hitting someone beside themselves for a change. Carter had some huge kids and we seemed to hold our own with them. Maybe a bit more speed on this team, particularly on defense, this year. Not the massive lines of the recent past, but decent size. Kind of hard to tell exactly what we have since players weren't wearing their real numbers and there was a lot of experimenting going on.
We will definitely win the Harriest Team Title. No doubt about that.

Good success and good health to your kids, as well. Sounds like you've found a good replacement for Mr. Hill.

only three starters back, small lines, lots of hair to get in the way, 3 diffiicult pre district games, just a jr RB, inexperienced QB. Sounds like tough times ahead this year.

I'm told this year's version of the Haka will be whispered. Any truth?

All true, except the hair part. ;)
Looks like lots of talent on this team, albeit largely inexperienced. I'm excited about watching this young group grow up.

I think Carter found out, they could get a first down until it was almost over(1st vs 1st). There was no way for them to get outside!
Have you ever seen T-shirts where they put something like this?
The Biggest,
The Strongest,
The Hardest Hitting,
The Fastest,
and
The Hairiest Team Ever!

Well that pretty much wraps it up folks, Trinity has been sandbagging all preseason and now they have let the cat (or is it Trojan?) out of the bag. And it sure isn't the sandbag

I wouldn't believe everything you read, especially on a t-shirt. This team has one offensive lineman, one defensive lineman and a good running back returning from last year along with a quarterback who took about ten snaps in a blow-out win over Fossil Ridge. I believe Lineweaver will keep things very basic for the first few games to let these kids get some experience, and it will be a real baptism by fire against three very good teams. If they can get through those first three games with with their health and confidence relatively intact, then I think they have a chance to be a pretty good team down the road.

I'm thrown a bit by veteran offensive line, not veteran defensive line...the D line has experience coming back...and good genes too
