The Navigation bar is not loading correctly, the bottom part where it shows "HOME NEWS ABOUT US LINKS ADVERTISE" loads some un-readable-unless-highlighted words, like booster club, 5atxfb widget, pick 'em... then it loads what it is supposed to say.

I'm getting good load times. I haven't noticed a slowdown, but then again I didn't have the new site showing until this morning on my browser. Some of you got it immediately last night and that would explain the slow loading. After some time, it should sort out for everyone hopefully. We'll be tweaking a bunch in the meantime and that should help.

Yes. If they were professionals they would not include links to THEIR sites and the site would be bug free BEFORE release. Anyone in the business knows you design, develop, TEST TEST TEST TEST and then deploy.
They have network links all over this website, including the widget. I would be pissed as the site owner. However, I'm not the site owner. :p

jakerz, there was plenty of testing done and the bugs found upon release have been minor. AWS did a GREAT job by us, and were great to work with all along.
The network links were part of the deal that we willingly and happily accepted. It will get, not only us, but YOU the visitor, more than you know. The end result will be that we can bring you a better overall website, and that we can continue to operate and expand the site as it grows. Again, how can it possibly be considered "selling out" if, at the end of the day...you are out nothing, you get a significantly enhanced product, and the operation and spirit of the site continues as it has from day one?
We are thrilled with how everything worked out, to tell you the truth. Would we have liked there to have been zero issues? Well sure, but I would say that everything worked about as well as it could have and the things that didn't quite work the first time will be easy fixes. In fact, several of the bugs found have already been squashed.
P.S. You are dead wrong on your last point.

There should be no bugs. If there are, you don't release the website. As simple as that.
What do we get as a visitor from the links exactly? Slower loading times and pointless content is all I've gotten so far. Not to mention you want to KEEP visitors on your page, not let them get obsessed with Eddie Royal (?) or Hope Solo.
Let me break it down for you...
Your load times on the main page are 12 seconds:eek: on average on a T1 connection. The whole page is 938484 bytes, which will load in 163.95:eek: seconds on a 56Kbps modem. This far exceeds most peoples attention span, especially these days on the internet. I didn't even test any of the other pages that are image or video heavy, or even the forum. The site will speed up when users START to cache bits and pieces of the website, but think about your first time visitors or visitors who use different PC's to browse. Not good.
No idea what this is about... http://www.5atexasfootball.com/img/body_bg.png
First of all, what is that design? Second of all, the users cannot even see the lines and designs in that image due to the content of the website convering. It's also a giant file that helps cause your load times to be as slow as they are.
...Your news system should be highly SEO'd because that's where your main and most active content is coming from. Google will give your site half (at least that section) half as much authority as it would with correct SEO methods used.
Example:
http://www.5atexasfootball.com/ssp/news?news_id=29
Should be:
http://www.5atexasfootball.com/ssp/news/pre-season25/copperascove/
etc.
Also each page should have a different title, corresponding to what the main content and objective of the page is. If not, search engines will view it as duplicate content and not spider it at all.
Same goes for the blog section.
Most of the images on this page http://www.5atexasfootball.com/ssp/photo_gallery
...are hardly viewable at all with MOST having dimensions of 90x70 ish. You guys know quarter sized images are a no no!;)
Theres EVEN network links in the widget. A widget is used so fans of THIS website can display and share it with their networks. When they place it on a network of theirs, 50% of the time the user is not going to click a link to this website because theres 50 OTHER links on there. Also, there's no way to post to Myspace.com, the biggest user network in America. Terrible.
There's a Tell A Friend button on EVERY page of your website. In case you guys didn't know, this function hasn't really worked for ANY website over the net's history. Users don't know most of their friends email's off the top of their head, and they're not going to dig thru outlook to find them either. You'll find this out soon enough.
The ads aren't relevant over 75% of the time and you guys could find a way better income stream then selling t-shirts.
http://a1444.g.akamai.net/7/1444/1104/3220760034/www.burstnet.com/gifs/wud_728x90_102208.jpg
What's this? You guys know 5A TEXAS FB fans don't believe in global warming :)
Not to mention the forum doesn't match at all, there's no style to the forms or buttons.
...most of the code is javascript which is highly outdated. If the developers used AJAX, guess what? Faster load times and more functionality! But based off of their work, they probably don't know AJAX. Fail.
I could keep going and going and going but I'll leave it at that.
p.s. You could of hired me :)

I just noticed FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON ya'll deleted all the previous pages from the website. What about those people who have bookmarked those pages? What about all the search engine traffic you're getting to those pages? All that shows on those pages is a 404 error. This is one of the biggest mistakes you can make in a redesign/development.
Tell your professional developers (;)) to look into 303 redirects. You're gonna lose a large chunk of your non-type-in traffic if you don't.

Please give it up.
Jakerz,
Thanks for all of your knowledge and help, surely it wouldn't be right if we didn't return the favor.
Here you go...http://www.google.com...search "Texas high school football" and you'll find sites to your liking. We wouldn't want you to continue to suffer in this website hell if you don't have to.

I'll leave it at that.

Yeah, it's like buying a 1999 Dodge Ram with a radiator leak and bald tires for $10,000 when you could of got an 2009 Dodge Ram for that much. :)
Just saying...
p.s. yes I know you cannot buy a 2009 Dodge Ram for $ 10,000

When you're the biggest HS football site on the web its more than expected to see the site down after everyone has been trying to check scores. You would need to one helluva server.
Chill out. The KT bros are doing the best they can do.

Sorry guys but I've encountered a few problems with the site and I was also asking what's up with the background of the site?
Whenever I go onto the main page it takes a little while to load and when it does, after clicking Forum the links that say what board you want, encounters several problems. I'm disappointed in a few things as well.....
No State Champions logos on the top right hand corner of the page anymore.... What's up with that?
The URL's for the greatest games category don't work anymore which is a feature that really drew me to the site. So much history there...
To be honest the whole "History" link is messed up. Everything but the State Champions shows up white. IDK if I'm missing something when I'm looking around.
I kinda agree with Jakerz to be honest. I love the site and everything but this board should have stuck with what we had before the "professionals" took over.
The CURV SPORTS thing is kinda lame also. I just don't like it being at the top. I'll get over it but it makes it look like I'm on a proxy site or something.
Most of the stuff I'm saying probably won't matter but you should have switched earlier to fix all the bugs out before the season started instead of having one horrible crash when every game seemed to end.
Well life goes on....but I think yall should lay off Jakerz. He was just speaking his mind and his opinion matters also. He knows what he's talking about so let him and the Admins talk it out.

honestly, the more I use it the more I like it. I don't mind it going down once or twice, remember how often it used to happen last season on the old servers?
The only complaint I still have is that all the icons and smileys load one at a time, so that makes replying take a little longer. But its not unbearable.
Keep up the good work KTs, as I have said in the past I have always respected the job yall do no matter how much we clash :D

Tonight is the first time Ive had problems loading the forums and site which is understandable due to the amount of traffic. Otherwise the site and forums is as fast as they have always been.

I wasn't being harsh, just stating that it did, in fact, fail its week 0 test. KT owned up to that on the Main Board.
I still think they do a great job.

1. At least you put it in the Yard...
2. If you hadn't put it here...do you think anyone would have noticed the site had some issues last night???

Site meltdown last night had to be expected. Never see a new system that didn't have issues at first.
Everybody should chill out. It'll get fixed.
(If not, we'll organize the lynch mob at a time and place to be determined.) :D

And where are the state champions?
