Being a native New Yorker, I had to experience some panhandlers that you end up seeing for years on the subway.
One would be wrapped in tin foil carrying a tenor sax. He'd claim he was from some foreign planet and threatened the entire car with playing the theme to outer limits continously until we ponied up some change. He'd do it too.

Another guy would burst into the car and proclaim "Yesterday I walked in my house and my whole house hath burnt down! Help me Lard....Help me Lard......" In like the third year I just blurted out "Damn......your house is still burning"?
