If the Duncanville coach is to scout the Permian scrimmage in Van Horn against EP Soccoro I suggest the following means of travel. Fly SW to San Antonio, rent a car and drive to Del Rio via hwy 90. Cross the river into Acuna. Eat at Ma Crosbys in Acuna. Pick up a cab at the international bridge on the Acuna side and have them take you across norther part of Mexico to the entry point back into the USA at Fort Hancock. If you have any problems with the do right boys while crossing Mexico just scream OHS at them. You will be fine. A Baptist preacher in Fort Hancock can arrange for a migrant worker who transports cantalopes in a 64 Datsun pickup to Imperial drop you off in Van Horn. Mojo fans may meet you at the Dairy Queen then carry you on to Tiger Stadium.

PS getting home is a different matter.:)

I was out there a few weeks ago en route to the mountains. I did enjoy the sub-100 weather. Didn't John Madden have a restaurant he favored in Van Horn? I saw a shot of it during that homage to Madden on SNF a coupla weeks ago.

Yes he did. I cannot recall the name but I ate there once and it sucked.

LOL, but sorry. If a Duncanville scout were to try to get to Van Horn to view Permian in there scrimmage game the easiest way would be fly to Odessa Regional airport on SW. Rent a car and drive another 150 plus miles to Van Horn. My suggestion takes them San Tone on SW, a four hour drive to Del Rio, a 16 hour jaunt from Acuna Mexico across the desert Chiwawasomething desert through check points where if they screamed OHS at the Mexican Feds they would get busted for life. So on and so forth. In other words they wouldn't make it to Van Horn much less to San Antonio for the Duncanville game against Permian. Not a serious post, just a little West Texas Humor.

I now know how a step child feels when attending a family reunion east of Abilene. :)

For those of you heading to the big city of Van Horn for the scrimmage, Eagle Stadium is on the corner of 6th and Bell. Hurry, because it only holds 3000 fans.

;)

man i feel bad for west texas coaches that have to drive far to scout, but sometimes those are the best trips.

When I was at Seminole, we drove all over West Texas and Eastern New Mexico scouting. We saw lots of good football, and found some great places to eat while we were out.
