Who's the best HS team in glorious East Texas (4a or above please) this year, and WHY?

Shockingly I voted for Lufkin. 41 seniors, 7 returning starters on D. I like our chances - plus Coach O thinks we can beat Lobo this year. :D
1a - Lufkin
1b - Longview
3 - JT
4 - Lee (sorry Rapture)
All four will be PO teams - most definitely.

Longview is bringing back a lot of guys from a team that went to the championship last year. I watched them against Carter last year and they should be better than they were.

I think they return some crazy number like 17 starters. Johnson at qb is a beast - a cocky beast - but one nonetheless.

Fav I think Lv returns like 12 starters on Offense and D, at least that is what D.C says..
But my pick was Lufkin. I don't think the Lobos will beat us at Abe this year and we should have a pretty good team this season if we can just stay healthy.
Also i'm glad to hear that Tyler Mccray will be back for the Lobos..

You couldn't slide a sheet of newspaper between any of the top three because there is not that much difference between them. I think Lufkin can defeat Longview at Abe, it may be their only loss as Longview will probably win the 4A Div. I title, they bring back so much talent, lots of pressure on this years team to go all the way. JT is much better than most give them credit and they will give Lufkin all they can handle in Tyler and should be favored to win their district. Lee is also very good as well, unfortunately they are good when all the other ET guys are too.
All 4 teams should do well in the playoffs.

Shockingly I'll pick Longview..
1) Longview
2) Lufkin
3) John Tyler
4) Tyler Lee
Until one of the three others beats us, I will vote it that way.
Longview has a 2 gamer on Lp...a 9 game winning streak on John Tyler...and a 6 game winning streak on Tyler Lee.
I'm confident of the Lobos in facing anyone from East Texas (as I'm sure Lufkin fans are).

Longview returns most of their starters from last years 4A Finals team. Lufkin will have 41 seniors this year and a bunch of talented JV guys moving up that beat Longview last year at Lufkin 32-19. This will be a great game at Abe.

Frankly I don't put much emphasis on polls so it really doesn't matter. As a LP fan I could never pick Longview over Lufkin in anything, in the same respect I knew picking JT ahead of the Lobos in a fantasy poll would stir the pot a little too. Playing games are what count and all the rankings will work themselves out soon enough. In reality I don't think anyone can overlook the JT Lions this year, they remind me alot of their 2000 State finals team.

Longview is best for now when comparing the two classes. They're holding a pretty substantial advantage in the win column plus they've made some decent runs the last few years. Lufkin would be my best pick for 5A followed by TyLee then us only because we're it in regards to 5A. Lufkin owned both of us last year and we all play one another this year so everyone has chance to take the glory. Longview gets to show if they can maintain their dominance against Lufkin and TyLee but they will get a break not having to face us this year. :D

Lufkin is being a bit overated as of now....to be truthful..because of the talent jt, lee and longview have coming back..the list should look like this:
1. Longview
2.Tyler Lee
3.John Tyler
4.Lufkin
