My vote is for Irving receiver Adron Tennell. A member of the Rivals 100 going to OU for football but averaging 20 points and 13 boards in b-ball. Check him out...

that was last year. There are a lot of multisport kids this year that should be recognized. I know this year that Corbin Smiter, Tre Newton and Riley Dodge all played varsity football and play varsity basketball. The only one that looks like a basketball player out there though it Corbin. I don't know what the Carroll b-ball coach is doing, but that is a different subject entirely

I went to 2 games this year and will not go to any more. I think the coach would rather the team pass the ball 20 times than score any points. In the games that I saw in the first quarter Carroll scored 2 and 4 points each.

I don't know if he is the best but Lyle Leong from Abilene High has been very successful in 3 sports.
He was all state at receiver, I think 2nd team as well 2nd team on this web sites Team Texas, in football. He won the 5A High Jump at the State meet in Austin last spring, and he also leads the Eagle basketball team in scoring with 15+ points per game. One heck of an athlete.

Drew Dunn may not be the best, but now since he has the football side of it locked up its almost a guarantee that he will get district 15-5a MVP in both football and baseball. He's always had gaudy numbers in baseball and has played on numberous national teams with Kyle Drabek from the Woodlands, mr. all world at baseball and he also gets one of my votes for one of the best two sports athletes since i've seen what he can do in baseball and heard about what he can do in football.

Since Strake Jesuit is such a small school many athletes play 2 or even 3 sports. 2 is a must. It just so happens that at Strake many succeed highly at the sports they play.
Stephen Tyree- the football team's second coming in UIL play. MVP on defense according to TSRN.com sports casters during the cy-falls game. the houston/katy people know what tyree has done on the football field so it is pointless to talk more. but in basketball, the sport he is playing at Bucknell next year in college, he has been the sole leader in 4 years on varsity. the only player currently at strake to play during the last independent year with Texas TE's steve hogan at center where he racked up a state and city ranking. tyree has played a lead scoring, rebounds and blocks in his last 3 years at strake in their first 3 years of UIL play.
Jonathan Moore- an outstanding football player being looked at for d1-a schools who played DB as a junior on strake's surprising fast defense. he moved to RB this year in strakes dream season after starting RB grant jefferson was sidelined for an injury in the bay town lee game. in soccer, moore has played 3 years on varsity in one of the state's top programs. the soccer team went 4 rounds deep in the region III playoffs, upseting katy in a 2OT classic. moore will most likely play soccer in college.
Johnathan Madsen- remember the major league leg as the kicker on the football team as well as a WR? well he is a soccer player and will most likely play it in college. he has started since his sophomore year for jesuit and has lead his team, alongside football teammate moore, to a pre season ranking in 06 and a final top 5 region III ranking in 05.

O.K. to clarify, I meant this year. That eliminates Aston and Luna. Lyle Leong at Abilene might be better, is he a Junior?

Don't know about the best there are a few I know about and some of these guys are three sport.
Lufkin -
Ralph Thomas ( football & Baseball)
E.J. Shankle ( football & track)
Marcus Rains ( football & Baseball)
A.J. Penson ( football, basketball & track)
Leonard Hewitt ( football & basketball)
Practically all the football team plays football, power lifts and runs track.
The Woodlands -
Kyle Drabek - ( football & baseball)
There are a ton of two sport athletes around the state in 5A, this is not an uncommon thing at all.

I wish. Nope, he is a senior and committed to Tech. I would not be surprised to see him end up playing basketball somewhere.

Brent Garner, Copperas Cove, would deserve some serious consideration.
Was All-District 13-5A and District Offensive MVP in 13-5A as he QB'd the Dawgs to the district crown and a deep run in the playoffs.
He's also All-State shortstop in baseball, hitting over .500 in both his sophomore and junior years.
Why hasnt ANYONE said Kyle Drabek????

Just HS?
There have been a few over the years.
But beyond HS I would have to say Bo Jackson...there is no telling how good he could have been without that hip injury.
Dave Winfield has to be considered as well...and of course...PrimeTime.
you mean like this and several more like it.
Thats what I get for not reading all the posts......
Playa's make mistakes too ya know.:D

Westlake's Nick Foles:
As a QB, 1st Team All-District, Honorable Mention All-Centex as a first year starter
In basketball last year, 1st Team All-District, Sophmore of the Year in the district, and I think he made 1st Team All-Centex, this year so far he is averaging a double double.

I would have to say that Carter's Michael Crabtree would be amongst the top, only because I don't have the info on every athlete in the state to say if he's the best for certain. He will be a two way athlete at Texas Tech, playing football and basketball. The football program convinced him to come there by informing him that he could probably start at WR his freshman year, but not ruling out some snaps at QB. He will also be shooting the rock for Bobby Knight during basketball season. Texas Tech is giving him a chance because he is looked at as an all around athlete and very competitive and eager to develop in any way possible to win.

whose snaps at qb will he take? there are 2 experienced(at least in college years) well-thought of qbs and unless it is a situational situation only, he has been experiencing the recruiting shuffle. their lips were definitely moving .

It probably will be situational scenarios if he's given an opportunity. I didn't say that he was going to take someones spot at QB. You can best bet that lips weren't just moving, because he will play this next season and if you saw what I posted, I said possibly start at receiver and not ruling out some snaps at QB, but if not.......he's still a hell of an athlete. Time will tell and we all shall see, but expect to see him on the field at receiver and on the hardwood for b-ball.
