1. Bobby Taylor-FS
Started as a sophmore and the rest is history! Great all-around athlete also, best player on varsity basketball as a freshman and best athlete on track team for 4 years as well!

2. Fred Talley-RB
By far the best RB to ever to come through Longview. Could run over you, around you, and all this at 170lbs! Holds single game rush record for Longview 387yrds. Led them to '97 state appearance.

Hard to say but I would go with Bethel Johnson. He was so dangerous in so many ways and could it take it to the endzone from anywhere on the field. But the reality is there was probably more than a few lineman that were better players.

DaBryan had/has rediculous speed! When I first saw him his junior year against Wilmer-Hutchins in that second round playoff game in 2000, I couldn't believe how fast he was.

I used to read his stats in the paper....like 8 carries for 197 yards, 1 ko return for 98, 4tds.........

Hell, I saw one stat line where he had 217 yards with only 7 or 8 carries. When Blanton got to the corner, it was over. The only dude who did catch him, was Everman DB Tremaine Wright. And, Wright actually had as good of an angle as you could get.

All former Judson Greats but I'd have to add Chris Pryor to that list. That was one of the most dominant HS running backs to ever play the game.

3) Corey Clark. OL - San Diego Chargers
4) Kendal Volz. Pitcher - Baylor, US Olympic team.

But Bobby Taylor was the best athlete to come thru the halls of LHS. The teams he played on won state in basketball, won state in both track relays and also won district in football 3 years. This guy was great.

Samuel Clemens

Anthony aka AJ Johnson - 9 year NFL career and superbowl ring

James Henry - Tremendous HS player that got playing time as a true
freshman. Made a truly bad decision after his freshman
year and is not playing ball anymore that I know of.

Scott Hall - played QB at N TX St. Probably could have played free
safety just about anywhere in the country but wanted to
be a QB. This guy would knock your flippin head off and
twice on Sundays!
Yaniv Barnett - probably the best D-lineman I've seen play in HS.
Completely and throughly dominated the line of
scrimmage for 3 years. Started at AZ for 3 years and
probably should be in the NFL except that he liked to
partake in herbal use if you know what I mean!

Donnie Pinkerton - Very fast RB that ran track at Rice. Electricfying
on the Field! Could break one off at any point in
a game and kept everyone on their toes every
time he touched the ball.

Scott Lenholf - Son of long time coach and athletic director Robert
Lenholf. Pitched at Baylor but had arm problems that
ended his carreer If this guy had played in an opened
up offense he would have had eye popping #s. As it
was I watched him for two years was I watched him
for two years play completely mistake free football.
The smartest QB I've ever watched play. Could have
played D1 QB somewhere if he'd chosen to.

Steele HS

Sheldon McClain - senior wide receiver this year and verbally
committed to Blow U. Great athlete at 6-2+ 185
and speed to burn. Stoops himself has heavily
recruited this guy. He's a good kid so I'm still having
trouble understanding the Blow U thing.:D

Cory Hill - senior this year. 6-0 280+ D lineman that should be D1
year.

Marquese Anderson - Jr D-lineman this year. 6-3 280+ will be D1 next

Malcolm Brown - Jr RB this year. If you haven't heard of him yet.......
YOU WILL!

Damn, how could I have forgotten him!? I believe he went to the AF Academy to play but I never heard any more after that. You are right, he was a heck of a good player.

I saw Yaniv his senior year in the regional final against O'Conner literally destroy a center and a big guard at the same time. He bull rushed them and ran both of them over like two little girls! By far the most impressive stregth move I've ever seen out of a D-lineman.

Yep, his name is Mike Schmerchak (spelling???), pronounced smur-jack. He was just shy of making the Olympic team and actually set some kind of record in AAU competition for 18 and under I believe. One hell of an athlete. I actually hadn't seen him in over 10 years and saw him about 5 weeks ago at a 25 year reunion that his class invited several other classes to attend. Mike was a senior when I was a Freshman.

In addition to those that Longview fans have said, I'd like to throw in Joel Armstrong as well. He was a VERY smart player, very athletic, and was a master at running the option.
