Shankle left for A&M today with J.Lane to talk with coaches. Maybe changing him mind again and considering A&M after all.

i had heard that he was not 100% on tech. there are Lufkin alums on both teams. from what i hear , he was wanting to stay closer to home

All of this means nothing until February.

that would be my pick. go somewhere where he will win and play in a bowl game. Tech would be second best IMO. A&M has just been sorry the past few years.

All signs at this hour are that Shankle is an A&M commit.

aggy desperately needs Shankle right now. One of the highest rated and best recruits they had, Malcolm Williams (4 star DB rated the 10th best DB in the nation by Rivals), bailed on aggy and is headed to the trailer parks of Norman. When asked why he bailed on aggy, Mr. Williams had this to say...

Williams, a long time A&M pledge, said the biggest reason why he's now a Sooner instead of an Aggie is that he knows Oklahoma's staff will be there for a while.

"I want to win," Williams said.

"And A&M hasn't showed me that they can win. They're talking about winning and about how they can win. I know at Oklahoma that they win and win a lot. I also know that at A&M, what happens if I'm two years in there and coach Franchione is fired? I know that coach Stoops at Oklahoma isn't going anywhere."

I know Shankle isn't going to play in the secondary (Rivals has him listed as a RB prospect while Scout has him as a WR prospect though they say he may play safety), but the aggy recruiting class is SO bad and continues to take so many hits, that they need all the help they can get. Their recruiting class is ranked below Tech's and is about to drop out of the top 30. Things couldn't get much worse in aggyland.

Gotta love a player who speaks his mind, good job for Malcom Williams, he is to good of a player to be stuck in college station the next 4 years.

I strongly disagree. Football isn't life, you know. There is education... Oops! I wasn't supposed to tell you...

I fear the Shankle saga isn't quite done just yet. Peveto is recruiting him at LSU and that guy is great in the living room. Peveto isn't a stranger to the Lufkin program either. He was with Houston and recruited several Lufkin kids over the years. And face it, LSU is coming off a huge win and has to be considered a contender (yeah, even with Les Miles). I truly think we won't know with EJ until signing day as to where he will go.

It would be cool to see EJ and Lane in the backfield together again. That was a great 1-2 punch at Lufkin.

I honestly don't care where EJ goes - the key for his success will be to get with the right coach who can push the right buttons to get him to focus and harness his incredible speed into the weapon it can be. I think he made some good strides this past year - but his talent far outweighs the results we've seen so far.

If Jorvorskie talks A&M up correctly, Shankle would be very tempted I would thimk. Seeing Stephen McGee, the future of A&M, play as well as he did against t.u. has got to make recruits wonder about what we may do next year.

I hope that McGee plays that well against Texas for the rest of his career. 9-23 passing, 4 fumbles, an interception and no touchdown passes

The stats may not look that great but you have to admit that he made hard plays and surprised just about everyone. You also ailed to mention he had 108 yards rushing with 2 TDs.

You can have an option quarterback. It will not do you any good especially in bringing in future talent.

Are you saying that you can't get an education from those other schools? All this time we were being fooled!

The best play I've seen him make was actually a block against Cove this year. Decleated a big DE into the Lufkin sideline and the guy's helmet went rolling one way, the mouthpiece another.
VERY deadly speed though, to your point...

I think when all is said & done, he goes to Texas A&M. I don't think too many Red Raiders took his commit seriously. It appears his mom favors A&M and Lufkin kids seem to go there in droves.

LSU looks better if they offer his buddy Hewitt, but if EJ isn't following him to Tech anymore, he may not follow him to LSU either. Although LSU is a much bigger draw in the Houston area than Tech is.

Leonard is quiet and introspective - no one knows what he's thinking or where he's heading other than family. EJ is outgoing and bubbly - he's changed his mind 250 times - and has let everyone know it.

Mandela Roberts has verbally committed to Indiana.

IMO his best year was his Soph year. He's not really a RB. He's better suited as a WR, KR/PR man. He should run track where ever he goes.

As a Aggie fan, there is a lot of truth in what Malcolm Williams said. But that's yet to be seen.

The couple of Lufkin games I've seen the last couple of years. I was always impressed with M. Roberts. He seemed to always be at the football and usually bringing some serious "hitting" with it.

Yeah so right, EJ has all the tools he just needs someone to bring it out. His soph year was by far his best. The other two seasons were average at best for him. The first thing is he needs to stay healthly, gets ding up a lot.

What is his connection with Indiana?

Guy was the 3rd best wr on his HIGHSCHOOL team come on. ( way behind Dez Bryant and Ralph Thomas) Pick a school already you are not all that. I love you because you are a panther but bs is still bs no matter who you are and if you pick aggy you still deserve to be shot on sight.

Ok that was kind of cruel. I am sure he will make the best decision for him and his future. I am not a aggy hater (they are easy to make fun of though) but i have been a little down on them after some of the Panther players went there in recent history.
