Matt, here is that SS you noticed:

here is my car:

It was a fun trip, something I was trying to get together when I was trying to set up that 5A trip but no one seemed to think it was possible

waiting for a few more people to show up

I like my tail lights better than the stock ones but I wish they were darker (like that black SS)

I know many won't care, but haha oh well

5A trip - I'm sure I would've ended up thoroughly annoyed by the end of that trip, hahh. And you would've been sick! Because you got sick that weekend! So no good.

Lalalala I'm sure Galvy was A LOT better than Sugar Land!!

lol, I plan on lowering mine 2" sometime in the near future. I won't do body kits though, nothing really good looking for this car (IMO)

1969 Ford Mustang

In the 3rd picture, the front car and the 4th car (Red 06+ SS) are both faster than your Mustang, both run better than your mustang, all of them have nicer interiors than your mustang, all of them ride smoother than your mustang and probably handle better than your mustang. I've seen pictures of your car, and unless you've done a LOT of work, don't get me started on POS. I respected your car when I saw the picture of it. Don't hate on our cars. Thank you.

somebody's got sandy clam syndrome!

Modern handling/interior=/=classic car handling/interior. That is just an amateurish comparison to try to make.

here's the other one:

he's on 20's too, tail lights are just as dark as that SS but he has the reverse lights not tinted and the chrome strip across the trunk like mine

I think that looks hideous.

The body kit does NOT match up very good and does not flow at all with the stock body lines.

Edit: the more I look at it, does that front piece just go over the front bumper cover??? WTF? That line mid bumper is stupid. I'd rather take the front bumper cover off of an 06+ Monte Carlo...

That front cover/lip would look good on an Imp. I don't think the side skirt is long enough, and the rear end is a different shape. If I had the Monte front cover/lip, I'd go with the 09+ impala side skirt which flairs out, and some kind of rear piece. I've seen some back one's that look decent

Well then, my granddaughter crawling across the floor and getting from one side to the other in 5 minutes is impressive too.

I bet my V6 Toyota Highlander or my 2000 V6 Astro Van aren't much slower....pretty dang fast for what they are...maybe I'll get a 13.8 QTR plate for the Astro.....

Corvette's run high 12's stock. This 4 door family sedan is getting down the track just as fast. Sorry but no, your Javelin would NOT beat anything Detroit can muster today. Corvette ZR1 would smoke it.

And no, your highlander and astro will run probably 18+ quarter mile runs.

Like I said, regardless if you like the car or not, a Small Block Chevy with an aggressive cam and an open exhaust sounds mean as hell and any argument you try to make is only because you do not like the car it is in.

Oh, it was a good engine, but it was modified by GM to be the FAKE fast motor after the 1973 oil crisis......they dumbed it down to the point it would barely run at all.

A Olds Cutlass with a Rocket 350 was a pretty fast car, but only before 1973.

I did own a 1976 442 and it had the 350 and it was slow....looked fast as hell....but slow. My buddy bought a 1977 442 with a special built, factory ordered 455.....that was a 4100 lb car......I was personally in the car when it took Vettes and Z-28's.....the other cars would get him on the start, big car to get moving....then that 455 would kick in the power and he would blow them away in the last 1/8th. That was to date the fasted post 1973 stock car I've seen that wasn't foreign.

Oh okay, good car! And it's either a 3.8 or a 3.4, if it's an LS I think it will be the 3.8

It changed from the 00-05 to the 06-09's.

00-05 was Base, LS, and 04-05 there was an SS. Engines were 3.4, 3.8, and 3.8 supercharged on the SS

06+ LS, LT(LT1, LT2, LT3), LTZ, and SS. there is 3.5, 3.9, and 5.3 V8 in the SS.

Street Cars running 13's and under, is nothing to sneeze at, from ANY era. Some cars were fast in the late 60's and early 70's, but nowhere NEAR as reliable, and gettin about 10 - 12 mpg, IF that good. Today's cars are more reliable, make the HP, run the number, AND get 20 or better doin it.

Back in the day, I would have loved a 63 - 66 Vette, OR a Chevelle 454 SS. Got a soft spot for Camaros as well.

I agree on the relaibility....comfort....lines.....todays cars are hawt.....the looks on the Chevy muscle are great....all the SS's...hot cars....look great.

I just don't think they can keep up with most of the old stuff......may be a severe case of 51 years old, but that's how it seems to me.....maybe I'm out of it....;)

No way. A Camaro SS (current or even from the early 2000s) or early 2000s Z-28 or Firebird Trans Am/Formula will suck the doors off of just about any stock street car from the muscle era. Those cars had a lot of power, but the suspension and tire technology just wasn't there. A purpose built drag racer from the muscle car era would be the only thing that could keep up with the modern day pony cars. With the Chevy 350 small block.

The primary limiting factors on the older cars, were the tires. Too crappy, AND too skinny.

I like cars from ALL eras. Just like some eras more than others. I can say the same thing for Motorcycles I reckon.

5.7 is a 360.

A 350 cid engine is actually is a 5.7 liter engine. A 360 cid, is actually a 5.9 liter.

If by better you mean "almost none", then you are correct. Car and Driver got a Dodge Caliber SRT4 with a turbocharged 4 banger through the quarter in 14.4....as good or a bit better than your Javelin with 401 ci of V-8 under the hood. A Mazdaspeed 3 will run in 14 flat.

Right well you keep talking your wack s!it, some of the guys are going to be down here at San Antonio Raceway sometime in the next couple months, if you want to come down and show them what a "real" car is like I would sure appreciate it. Man, if Indian hadn't gotten shafted by the US Gubment all those years ago.

We MIGHT have actually had some competition among US motorcycle companies. We might actually have a two wheeled prodcut produced here, that is technologically superior to anything from Japan or Europe.

Instead, we are left to settle for US made product best suited for parade duty.

When you're talking performance, the General and Pentastar divide the world between them. Then you have Ford, making girl cars and selling them by the boatload.

Speaking of machinery of a "red" persuasion, do you have any experience with Ural motorcycles. As best as I can tell, it is a reverse engineered BMW. My best friend's dad swears by 'em.

I recall them trying to make a legit push in the US a few years back. I haven't seen but a few on the road. Have ridden a newer one, and a decent enough motorcycle. In some respects, Urals are not unlike the Harley (or Royal Enfield, or Jawa in some respect) in it's allure. Older BMWs have cultish followings as well, for that matter.

I wouldn't call them girl bikes, or anything like that.

I have a 2000 Impala. I would trade it any day for a 95 though. I always liked how them 95s looked.

A*K*A; the high powered Caprice Classic!:notworthy Or, you could call the Caprice Classic the baby Impala. Which ever you prefer!

I'd ride one of those anyday myself!:notworthy

What is amazing to me, is the Caprice is quite possibly one of the ugliest cars ever made.

BUT........................

Slam the same car a few inches, put the right wheels on it, add a spoiler and monochrome the paint scheme, and suddenly it ain't a bad lookin car at ALL.

The LT1 doesn't hurt either.

I've seen them at work in the motherland and I am reminded of the old saw that a Chevy truck will run badly for longer than anything else on the road will run at all. This guy likes them because you can still get a sidecar. He also likes that they are simple enough to work on yourself, so long as you have a good parts source.

They were reverse engineered from a WWII era BMW to meet the needs of the Red Army in WWII. Go anywhere, always work, easy to maintain. But not a lot of frills or gee-whiz factor.

You just nailed part of the Older Harley positive. AND the older, air cooled, two valve BMWs for that matter. As for a sidecar, to me, they are fun to ride, but lean the wrong way in turns. I won't lie though, and tell you it isn't fun to watch your passenger's eyes, when you lift the wheel of the sidecar in a good right hand turn.

:o

And yes, I do enjoy the saying that a GM vehicle will run bad, longer than other makes will run, period. I can attest to this statement.

In reality, you could use that statement for most US made cars. Chrysler in general, and Dodge is specific, pop, rattle, and squeak right from the factory is seems. But you can seldom fault the drive train.

This!

The thing about the Caprice though, is that it's a good car. I know a few people who own a Caprice, and they've drove it all over this entire state, and then some. Good traveling car, with the long suspension and, it even has a little bit of power.

My mom had a 1994 Buick Roadmaster, which was basically a rebadged Caprice with a few more interior frills. It was a great car, had the 350 under the hood. A true land yacht, but the small-block provided a bit of get up and go. We loved that car for the long family road trips.

That Buick contained an Impala SS drivetrain. The engine did have a few more resonators, to help quell the intact noise. GM rated these cars (and the Impalas) at 260 HP. Yea, okay.

That was the car I learned to drive in. My first real "highway drive" was in the Roadmaster from San Antonio to Harlingen at 15. Me with a learners permit, mom and sis in the back seat, dad trying to keep his cool in the front. The big Buick just ATE up those miles on the King Ranch.....

A great car. Silver with a "Mojo Alumni" window sticker.

LOL. I just think the lines and chrome on the 1956 are clean, clean, clean.

BBQ joints must be tested by ordering brisket, sausage, potato salad, and beans. And whatever dessert they have that they recommend, usually a cobbler.

If I had a '56, I'd do it much like this. I'd leave the exterior lines and brightwork original...keep the same stance....but put on some fat B/F Goodriches and some mag wheels...and drop a new 350 into the engine bay. Mate it with a modern six speed. This is all dreaming of course:

That's sharp...I've always liked the two-tone scheme of the same color in a different hue.

I do have a soft spot for the '57 though...I drove away from my wedding reception in a candy apple red '57 Bel Air two door hard-top.

For the '57s I actually prefer the single color to the two tone. But the 55s and 56s need the two tone.

Make it burnt orange and Maroon, and tell everyone it's your Virginia Tech car.

Seriously, the two tone is a cool deal. Add in some subtle ghost flames in a VERY similar hue of blue, behind the wheels.

That would be cool.

No, it really doesn't have much more than 260 HP. If you look at any car from those days, that is a LOT of power. Those 94-96 Impala SS's were slow when stock. Of course, they are HUGE cars, but they really don't have much power until you start modding it. The 04-05 SS have a 3.8l supercharged V8 and the 06+ SS have a 5.3l 303hp v8 and are much faster than the B Bodies
