View Full Version : Anticipated Matchups For Your Team
timeout!

what key matchups are u ready to see for your team. it can be a particular unit vs. another team unit or player or maybe the whole team. i cant wait to see lufkins cb l.hewitt vs. the woodland wr drabek. both guys are very talented. last year the two got the best of each other in the woodlands. drabek had a couple of nice grabs and hewitt got a int. thrown drabeks way by the qb and did a pretty good job of covering him. i am pretty sure if both players are healthy they will make some plays for their respected teams. i am also looking forward to watching lufkin wr's vs. port author memorials secondary, i hear memorial has a very talented secondary with speed to burn, so it should be interesting to see how things develope. hopefully lufkin offensive line will be up to the challenge.

Staring right down the barrel at Tyler Lee, Longview and Mesquite. We're probably on the recieving end of the barrel, unfortunately. :)
We'll see. I'm excited to be playing all three of these teams at home also.

Crusader Stadium would sell out to Katy fans alone. It's a shame that half of Katy's fans will not be able to see the game due to the stadiums inadequate seating capacity. And it's not because it is a big game, Katy routinely fills their side of the stadium at any Houston area locale. I dread having to play there and walk for blocks because there is no parking. I realize it's not Strakes fault that they were put in 19 5A, but as far as football goes it is nowhere near 5A facilty standards. Oh, I forgot about that wonderful concessions shack. What did we do to get stuck with this? Oh well, at least it's only every other year.

Dallas Carter vs Garland
This ought to be one heck of a game. Carter looked shell-shocked at halftime of last year's game. I doubt they'll take Garland so lightly this year. But with the game being at Williams, I like Garland. Don't think it will be a blowout like last year though.

Last year, I think Carter got a case of the big head when they beat Arl. Lamar at home from behind. Garland came to their stadium and handed it to them. I think it would be a much competitive game this year. Plus I think Garland caught them off guard when they went back to the Wing T just like Carter caught Lamar off guard going to the spread. However, last year is over, I just look forward to the matchup this year.

I always look to pre-district to see how good Judson will be. If Judson takes care of Cove on the road, they'll be great in district. Pflugerville will still be a good game, but doesn't have last year's luster. The district games are tough, but SV is the top game. I still don't see Churchill or somebody like Roosevelt/Madison beating Judson. The fact that I hate to see Madison beat Judson makes it a big game for me.
Come playoff time, I look forward to seeing Clemens and O'Connor in the first 2 rounds. Obviously, somebody like North Shore/Westfield in the semis and somebody like E. Trinity or Tyler Lee for the title would be huge.

Garland has a few really tough non district games. We have to go to Ennis and play the 4a state champs, go to DeSoto and I'm sure Carter will be coming for our heads because we put it to them last year. ;) But then the tough district games will be South Garland and North Garland because those games will determine the district champs.

Pent up rage...is that what you call it, I hate y'all, with a burning passion...and yes, yes we do have THE Moody...there is always Passion between them when everythey get togeither...I wont be here for this one, but I wish i was :(...
Another game Coppell is bitter about is Coppell vs Irving...a 39-45 loss, in a game the featured two of the Top running backs in the State Emanuael Moody, and (oh man I can think of his name right now) and had over 900yards in total offence. Irving knocked Coppell out of the play-offs last year...

Definately dont blame them. Would love to play the Owls again. North Garland...No thank you. If we play Garland atleast they'll have some fans at the game. South Garland we all know why the Lobos want to play them again. But vs North Garland...Nothing was there. No fans and they werent in the game for about half the 1st quarter. Love playing the Garland schools. Hopefully after the 06 realignment we'll still be playing each other in the 1st round the playoffs. Its a good rivalry that IMO is just beginning between the two regions (even with the Mesquite schools now in our district)

It took literally forever to get out of that parking lot after the game. Hope we dont have to go back to your home stadium for a while (no offense). Was quite crammed together but it was ok! It was quite cold that day but with the heat from the fans I wasnt that cold all game.

Haha, they should have let Longview use the home side of Williams Stadium; the home side is so much easier to get out of. With that many people on the visitors side im no surprised it took forever to get out of. I was out in like 20 seconds with all 10 of the NG fans behing me. :p

Now, that's what I'm talking about!! If, we can get past Lufkin(our coaching staff, anyways) I am also YEARNING to see this matchup between the Longview Lobos and Southlake Carroll. I would spend my entire weekly paycheck w/O.T. on it to see that game! We fare extremely well against so-call run-n-gun, spread offenses so, I like our chances. I tell you what............., I would have like to seen SLC go against Evangel in their PRIME    Can you imagine how many people are standing in that game without seats????!!!!!!!

This one is easy---
Harlingen v SA Reagan at the Classic in San Antonio.
This is what Valley fans have been waiting for. We can't lie-- we have a poor, poor record against the stud teams from the SA area-- Judson, SV, etc. This is what we wanted-- if we can beat a middle of the road (at best) SA team, it will go a long way toward erasing our door mat image. (Althoug Donna's victory over a decent Lubbock Monterrey team two years ago should have stopped the "worst region in Texas nonsense) If they man-handle us, then it will prove how far we have to go. No excuses. If we keep it close-- they jury is still out.
Other than that
Harlingen v San Benito (revenge)
Harlingen v Brownsville Rivera (revenge)
Harlingen v Los Fresnos (should deciede the district)

Yep - that final step before the final is usually a big one coming through ET. Barring injury-bugs - someone's gonna have to be awfully loaded to get through LP and Longview. Lufkin and Longview have met in the regional finals two out of the last three.

I was out of the country for the SB game (all of last season, actually), but I understand it was a tight matchup, the Cards nearly pulled it out at the end of the game. There is a lot of bad blood between the towns. In 1995 San Benito ended a 29 year losing streak against the Cards. They have won only twice since then. Any time a Harlingen team loses to the Greypuppies it is a HUGE embarrassment. Harlingen folks look at San Benito as sort of a very slow stepchild. The won-loss record isn't even close, although the game has been played since the 74 times. Something like 60-14 in favor of Harlingen.
It is kind of intersting demographically. When SB faces Harlingen it is wealthy (relatively) vs poor, the bosses kids vs the farm hand's kids. I have lived and watched football in a fair chunk of the state, and for pure hatred and nastiness, the Harlingen-SB rivalry wins, hands down.
