SLC WR Evan Fentriss?

Has Fentriss been offered by a D1 school? Just curious. I was asked about this, since I live in Southlake, but I don't have the answer.

Fentriss is good enough to play at a lot of schools. He quietly emerged as one of the top recievers for Carroll over the last two years. Seemed everytime a big catch was needed he was the one who came up with one. Out of all the receivers Carroll has had over the last 4 years he has been the one who has impressed me more than any. Congrats to Evan on the offer whoever lands him will be getting a quality receiver.

Fentriss played for Lake Highlands High School last season as a junior. He transferred to Carroll. So, "improvement" was not over a 4 year period at Carroll. I watched him catch and run against Jesuit last season. Unfortunately for LH, they lost Fentriss and a great TB, who transferred to Bishop Lynch. Lake Highlands still did very well, making the playoffs.

You're a little off. You're thinking of Smiter. Fentriss had a huge catch against SV to tie the game early in the 4th quarter. Fentriss made plenty of other big catches in 2004 as well as 2005.

I was way off. I just thought Fentriss had been at Carroll a while, my fault. You are right it was Gedwed I am thinking of. Forgive my mistake. Still doesnt change my mind on Fentriss, he was a damn good receiver for the Dragons this past year.

I can confirm that Evan is talking to Rice and SMU.

Fentriss had 16 catches for 322 yards and 3 TD's (and another 2 TD's rushing) for Lake Highlands in 2004. He transferred to SL Carroll. I asked a coach at Jesuit about this, and he had no idea why he transferred. I asked him if he could have transferred to Jesuit, and I was told that Jesuit does not accept transfers from public schools after freshman year because of the course requirements (including 4 years of theology) at Jesuit. Jesuit accepts private school transfers, if they qualify academically, I was told.

Fentriss was a stud at LH, and his talents were showcased at SL Carroll this season. The funny thing is that LH was a spread/throwing team this season. My guess is that he transferred to get the ball more. He did, and he won a state title. Hopefully, he will get to continue to play at the next level.

Both..and it was my understanding that there were some work ethic questions

OK - thanks - someone suggested he had to sit out a year for UIL rules purposes - which I know nothing about. Amazing to me he had no impact last year then as a junior. He and Smiter must have been on a mission last summer.

He (Fentress) did have an impact as a junior..it was at Lake Highlands...I don't know his numbers, but they must have been pretty good..
