I am putting together info gathered from all over Texas and I will begin releasing my findings soon. Some info is similar to the other stuff already posted, but stay tuned to this thread for the regional alignment that will have many people looking for a new place to coach. I am waiting on confirmation of this alignment. I don't make it habit of spreading things that I don't think are accurate. I was told I would get a call after a "lunch meeting" today. This news could travel fast !!!! Stay Tuned !!!

OK, your credibility is on the line. You might be telling the truth, but we don't usually have ground-breaking posts by members in their first couple of posts. This is coming from your stunt of the year winner.

You are right. I am putting it on the line. I'm not a poster, just a watcher usually. But this peaked my interest about a week ago and I got on the phone and contacted a blast from the past who happens to be "in the know". I have posted on TOC before, but not here. Anyhow, It looks like they are going to slide the DISD schools to Region 1 and put the rest of Dallas County, Collin County, and Northeast Tarrant in Region 2. More coming, time permitting. Maybe tomorrow, no computer at home.

That would be radical because it goes against the current geography. They don't usually backtrack with districts.

San Antonio Lee wants to be moved to 4A, and I think they will be. They turned in 5A numbers, but that is counting the NEISD Magnet School that is there, and the kids attending the magnet school are not eligable for UIL compitition.

Thats not that strange actually. Not that many Dallas 5a schools, and would allow for the big growth areas to add more schools and maybe a new district.

Unless the magnet program is considered a seperate campus (school within a school) by TEA it won't happend.

If they count the magnet school as part of the student population at Lee, then its a school within a school isn't it? The kids attending the magnet school are not eligible for UIL stuff, so without them Lee's count would be well under the cutoff for 5A.

All Texas schools have a unique id number assigned to it by TEA. If the magnet school does not have its own id number then it is just a program the NEISD offers at Lee. Therefore the UIL as well as TEA would consider the magnet students apart of the regular student body at Lee. (I bet their diploma says Lee High School) I think one way to get around that is for example a student is attending Madison, but they will travel to Lee to take magnet courses which would open a can of worms within the district. (That would be another reply) The coaching staff will just have to hustle to get those kids to participate in UIL activities.

Very interesting pickle. For you youngsters : Don't look at what the UIL has done in the past. I've seen them have teams 18 miles apart in the same district for two years, and the next realign they are in separate regions. I've also seen Waco High leave Waco (home of most of Region 2 contests) and go to Lubbock and Odessa for region 1 contests while passing other teams coming into Waco for their regionals. Don't ever think UIL uses logic

Another non-logical thing- 128 playoff teams out of 244 teams. 244/2=122. Why are more than half of the teams making the playoffs?

I hope Judson wins district next year, but I don't see it happening. I just hope we aren't going into the 10th game trying to win by 21 to get into the playoffs as the 4th team, or hoping for Lee to beat Churchill to get in as the 4th team.

And don't ever think anybody has any "inside" knowledge as to what the UIL is going to do because no such knowledge exists. We'll all find out together in Feb. All this "inside" crap is just that... crap.

Yes magnet school kids are eligible for UIL.
O'Connor has AG (it's Magnet school) they are allowed to play sports
Taft has a Magnet School they are allowed to play sports.
Judson and Wagner both have Magnet schools both are allowed to play sports.
If you attend a school and are legally at that school you can play sports.
The problem at Lee is their Magnet school is international studies. Which does not do it's football team much good. But many of these students are in Soccer, Track, and Cross-Country. I cannot speak how many they have playing on the girls side, but some of them do play sports.

I think the UIL's biggest shot at the Stupid Hall of Shame was when they had Bryan High and A&M Consol in different districts for a while. Morons.

I think its pretty much in cement that Cove will be heading down to 4A. I think its a big mistake thogh, Cove should be allowed to compete in 5A, look at how good they are.

Skill has nothing to do with what classification a school is in...if it did, Dallas ISD would have 6 5A schools (Carter, Skyline, Kimball, Wilson, Lincoln and Madison), and Sunset and Molina would be in Class 1A.

Cove can still be a good football team in 4A. But if they go in with the attitude that they're better than all the rest, they'll be in for a rude awakening...probably in the regional final in the form of Highland Park High School.

Waco High should be stronger than Copperas Cove the next couple of years as Waco in 2005 was playing mostly sophomores and have a huge crop returning.....Cove has quite a few to replace......both will be in 4-A and both will probably be in entering the playoffs in the same division.
Both schools more than likely will be playing each other in the region finals. I think the big test will happen in the 4-A semi-finals and finals for both of them.
It will be pretty cool to see what they can do in 4-A. For Waco High I think it will boost the support that has been dwendling away the last two or three years when they start getting some playoff wins in 4-A.

Haven't you been saying that for the past couple of years? How's that working out for you?

As for dropping to 4A, it wouldn't bother me football is football, it's not like Cove would be moving down to 6-man. As far as I know they use the same rules in 4A as they do in 5A.

Hey Centex, how is Antonio Johnson doing at Waco? He tranfered to Waco from Lufkin as a sophomore last season. He was highly regarded here as the future starting defensive end for Lufkin and was projected to replace the graduating SR Robert Taylor on next year's 2006 team.

I haven't heard anything on him since he moved last fall.

Since moving to Austin i've been out of the loop so I really couldn't tell you. Maybe I'll hear something during the spring games. I'll let you know............I wonder if he's related to the "Johnsons" (Derrick Johnson, Rashad Johnson)
