Can't decide which way to go.....
Just fearful I might need something for eternity - like a suit, or car keys... breath mints - something.

My father-in-law demanded that he be buried with his shoes on. We checked and he had them on.

I'm claustrophobic. A casket will never do. Burn me.

Embalmed-Just the thought of my body being in ashes isn't the right thing to me.
And WE usually don't do that type of stuff.

One thing is for certain, when the time comes you will
be one or the other.
Well, you hope that is the case...

They usually put you in a jar or a vase. Or a box.
When you're burned, they put you in a cramped furnace. You can't escape...

But my ashes will be dispersed as opposed to being cramped in a casket and not being able to turn over on my belly.

You still have to be burned in a cramped furnace. At least a casket is comfy. I wish I slept that comfy now.

But I get cramps from laying in one position for a couple of hours. I hear that when you are buried in a casket..you don't move no more.

what about being put in a see through coffin and being shot out into space...
imagine the view you would get after floating off for a hundred years.

Unless you ended up in a moon crater... or a black hole... or the asteroid belt... or a supernova... or slipped through tear in the space-time continuum... etc.
I think I'd rather be put into orbit... I could be like Halley's Comet... people gather to see my fiery casket every xxx years.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not scared of death, I just don't want to be there when it happens to me. You see, I'm claustrophobic AND I'm scared of fire. So I think I'm gonna be S.O.L.

the odds of you ending up stuck in a moon crater are slim, but if you do, you either have s:Censor:ty luck or were a jacka$$ in life and deserved it.

When I was a kid I saw a Twilight Zone episode of an elderly lady that was buried with a phone in her casket. I think her daughter kept getting phone calls but no one would speak. At the end of the episode she figures out it's her mom and goes out to the grave. There leading into her grave is a phone line... I think it took 2-3 days before I could sleep through the night again :)
Ever since that episode it's embalming for me baby!

Worked at a funeral home for a summer in college. Found out stuff you don't want to know. BAsed on my experience, I think all funeral directors/etc. are weird.
That being said, unless my family has other ideas, burn me up and toss the ashes somewhere. FWIW, my father was buried in three states. My father in law rests in my basement, moved from my entertainment center.

I knew a guy in college who drove "the meat wagon" for a funeral home. Most of his runs were from the hospitals back to the funeral home. He definitely marched to the beat of a different drummer!

When we lived in Lubbock our neighbors where funeral directors. They were two brothers, sons of the owner. One had a great sense of humor the other one always had that somber look about him. He gave me nightmares.

I didn't know most spouses are now buried on top of one of another.
So many possible replies to that line I do realize.

I like graveyards and seeing the old headstones from different eras. I enjoy family history and finding graves of ancestors.
Can't do that if I'm burned and scattered. Bury me so future generations can find me if they are interested in geneaology.

It's very possible to bury ashes. Less of a footprint as well.
