I got the 3 red rings of death and I'm still waiting on Microsoft to mail me a shipping label so I can send it down to there tech center in McAllen.
How is it though? What's the biggest difference since last year?
It's near impossible to download a TeamBuilder school. I've been sitting here for 45 miutes trying to find my teams, and the only thing I can count on is the server failing, or some crap. There's no distinction between teams using usernames. It's just lists of schools with some variation of Katy in the name, and you have to download a team's roster to figure out if it's your school or not. I'm pissed.
Server's working now, and I found my Katy team... not so pissed anymore. But I still can't search for teams using my username: TexasBass.

you've got to have xbox live to do teambuilding, so ive gotta get a new subscription. Road to Glory, where you play as a player through high school playoffs and through college, is basically the same except Erin Andrews follows you around and takes pictures of videos of you. overall gameplay is nice, you actually have to go 10 yards to get the 1st down, not 9.25 yards like NCAA 2009. new tackling and breaking tackles. Havent tried dynasty mode yet
These new layered animations EA is touting are complete crap. They're supposed to prevent the problem from previous installments of a player being "sucked" into an animation and foregoing his job of passing or catching the ball in favor of completeing some theatrical tip-toe-the-sideline ********. I was sacked three straight plays because the new sack animation starts much, much earlier, and the animation is much, much longer, in order to allow for time to throw the ball away/get the pass off while you're being tackled (hence, layered animations: you're being tackled but still have control of passing).
So while that's a good idea, here's the problem: you can't pass the ball AFTER the defender's touched you/started the sack. You have to pass BEFORE you're hit, and then the throw away is supposed to happen as you're going down, which is why they extended the animation and made it start earlier: to allow time for a pass animation. I can't even make sense of how ridiculous this is.
I can't believe I buy these games every year...
The TeamBuilder site has been down for a while now... I'm getting pissed again.
Oh yeah, Penn State makes excellent adjustments at the half... damnit.
Now I remember why I buy these games... the unranked Katy Tigers just upset #8 Penn State 24-17 at Happy Valley.
Penn State scored on a long opening drive and then I immediately turned it over to them, throwing an INT returned for a TD on third down on my first set of down: 14-0. They completely took away my running game early, absolutely nothing going on the ground. My next possession I was able to move down field nickle and diming underneath and put up a FG: 14-7. Held them again, threw another INT, held them, picked my way down field and scored with 30 seconds in the half and just barely intercepted a Hail Mary to the endzone to end the second quarter, 14-10, PSU.
I take three consecutive, monstrous sacks to open the third quarter and have a 4th and 35 punting from the back of my endzone. They take up the entire third quarter marching 55 yards but only get a FG: 17-10. I returned the ensuing kickoff 91 for a TD: 17-17. I hold them on their next drive to a fourth and long, they punt it, I immediately throw a pick inside my own 40. They get inside the 15 and throw a pick at the 5. Four minutes left in the game. I get the deep game working as well as the running game to the outside. They've taken away most of my underneath crap with all these damn INTs. I get to the 5 and HB Power O right, 2 yards. HB Power O left, 1 yard. HB Power O left, TD: 24-17, Katy, 2:33 left. I shut them down their next drive and take over with 1:50 left. I still can't run up the middle, but I can pick up 3-5 yards with a stretch on first down and hope not to get stuffed running the same play on second down... They use all of their time outs and I barely pick up a first down. Two plays later, on second and six, I pick up 19 yards and seal the game.
Thank you for your time... :o:D
This game really is pretty good.

The stadiums look a lot better than last year's version. The gameplay itself seems to handle more like Madden than it ever has before (not as wide open as previous NCAAs). The deep passing game has been improved considerably. If you have an accurate QB, he will put a fly route on the outside shoulder of a WR and you can make a play even if coverage is good. Good players actually make a difference.
I was watching chill play last night and he blitzed into an option play and knocked the QB down while he was pitching. The pitch kind of fluttered as a result of the hit and one of chill's safeties jumped the weak pitch before it could get out to the RB, picked it off, and ran it back the length of the field for a TD.
Offensive players handle hits better and more realistically in this version. Last year, every hit seemed to knock you off of both feet. Your bigger and stronger players are actually hard to tackle in the open field.
The main game play issue I still have is with blocking. Madden handles the trench game a lot better than NCAA and always has. To put it simply, your offensive linemen suck. On Heisman, my OL is leaking defenders against straight zone coverages. I have no idea how that is possible.
The edge rushing game seems to work good enough, but running between the tackles is very inconsistent due to matador offensive line play. Also, the catching setting appears too low for you and too high for the cpu in this version as well. The cpu will catch everything it gets a finger on as usual. I can't tell you how many dropped passes I've had with wide open receivers.
Overall, there are definitely some improvements but also some old issues which will require some slider adjustments.

That makes me excited to buy the game even more now....I've always bought the game on opening day, but I haven't this year because of money.
Keep posting updates everyone!

You aren't missing too much because of the roster delays. I'll jump into dynasty mode later on today and let you know what the recruiting is like.

Awesome! I'd appreciate it. There have been some things I've wanted EA to improve on with the recruiting process from the previous games, so I would definitely like to know how this game differs from the rest.
Grant Clifton and Donovonn Young are making Andy Dalton look like a chump... INT at the 1, then a 90 yard TD drive in three plays.

It's create-a-team online, so you can create your own rosters and player attributes 100x faster than an in-game creator. You can upload your own logos to see in-game. It's really, really cool. I'll post a picture of my Katy team in-game.
And a word to the wise, if you play mascot mashup, Bevo/Hook 'Em fumbles on every running play.
Wow. There's an Acheivemnt for this game called "What Competition?" You have to move a Sun Belt team into the SEC and win the conference championship in your first year.

I checked out the recruiting last night and it looks similar to last year's model. They've changed up the menu design, but it is the same information. Instead of grading your school as "Elite" or "Poor" in pitches, they now give grades (A+, B-, C+).
From what I've seen, at least in this first batch of prospects, it looks like speed will be a little harder to find. I haven't seen anyone with A+ speed in this first recruiting class. I only looked at the 5 and 4 star guys though. In last year's version, you could get some big time steals in the 3 star range.
I'm curious to see how transfers will work in this game.
I'll start a dynasty with Oregon when the rosters are out. I can't pass up the opportunity to play with a team that has three different helmets :D . In this year's version, you have all of the uniform options available and don't have to download them.
I'm a halfback for Iowa (ranked 15) Going up against Penn State (#5) at their house in Road to Glory. This is gonna be freaking awesome. Except my coaches are terrible and my QB doesn't know how to run the option.

Whelp, I'm 3-1 online so far, losing only to a Gator Heavy cheeser. Next time I'm setting my pass defense to "conservative." I refuse to get beat deep like that again.

What is #6 saftey from Oklahoma rated if hes on game. player ratings.
Go Hawkeyes. 27-17 upset over Penn State at Happy Valley.
So unranked Arizona State beats 16 Georgia 27-20 in OT and moves to 23 in the Coaches' Poll ahead of GA, now at 24. I beat 5 Penn State as 15 Iowa and they're still ahead of me at 9 while I'm at 10. Morons. At least I'm number 5 in the Media Poll with one first place vote.

Excellent. If oyu wouldn't mind, thatd be cool.
I made a Lufkin and a Carroll team. Lufkin's players are all 7'1'' and over 250 lbs with 99-level attributes across the board. They're gigantic. My Carroll team is all 5'5'' and 160 lbs with 1s across the board. It's like watching an NFL team play full speed against some emaciated sick kids. The Carroll players even get to the line slow.
The goal is to injure every Carroll player until they have to forfeit because they can't field a full eleven players. I actually feel bad watching these "little kids" get laid out.
