i admit i pulled for tu after the game got started, and i promise i'll never do it again. had i been watching it with any tu fans, i'm sure i would have never succoumbed. after hearing for the forty seventh time last night how excited and giddy i should be and how i should be crying with the thrill of victory from every nauseating tu fan(the woodworks are exploding with them here) i remember with every fiber of my being why i hate the whorns with a passion. congrats to all on the great win. please God, let vy turn pro so this won't happen again. this is going to be a long, long year as it is.

Horn fans are more laid back in EastTexas DD - it's the Aggies that will kill you around here. I'm neither - but I was definitely rooting for UT - not to sound corny but I think I was rooting for Texas HS football as much.

I think we could get along pretty well...I feel the exact same way...someone actually gave me a "Texas Tittie Twister" for wearing maroon the day after the game...I punched the guy, but still.

The Horns need to be like Mack - who has been more gracious in defeat than Mack Brown? Sure he sounded a little goofy when he tried to stiffarm UT into the BCS two years in a row (made it once and missed once) - but the guy is classy in defeat -- as was Pete Carroll.

What gets me is I go by Academy yesterday to get some shoes. There were more than 100 people in there going through several tables of Longhorn National Championship shirts and hats. People who have never supported or owned a TU shirt in their life were buying shirts. I even saw a two people there I know who are lifelong Aggies buying a shirt.
I have been a life long UT fan, now everyone wil be wearing the burnt orange shirts all year, you won't be able to tell the difference between the true fans and the wagon riders.
Everyone is a UT fan now.

That is bad fashion taste and being a sellout.

Yeah, it's hilarious... I too have pulled for the Longhorns since their last championship... Eddie Phillips is still my favorite Longhorn for some unknown reason... Most of those buying the stuff wouldn't know who that is or when he played, or who Johnny Lam/Ham Jones, Marty Akins, or Brent Duhon are either... No matter... Texas was due, Texas was deserving, and those truly associated with the team should savor the moment as it is such a outstanding and difficult achievement...
As for those not associated with the team in any way (like me)... It was great entertainment and I had fun that night, but it was a day in the life, and that's about it...

Don't worry about I'm going to either Tech, St. or A&M next year and I was rooting for UT all season. The way I see it is we are all Texans and we gotta stick together if we are going to overcome the monopoly against us that is run by USC and Espn, thankfully we did.

Have a room full of The University of Texas caps and jerseys but I have never met a true Longhorn fan (especially claiming to be a lifelong fan) use "TU" in a sentence. Hopefully, it was just a "slip of the tongue"?

I was pulling for UT in the game. I like to see Texas kids whooping on those west coast boys. But there's no way I'd wear the orange and white. I won't even allow my children to wear it. If they grow up to be Longhorn fans I'm blaming it on their Mom.

The Longhorns don't "whoop"....that's an aggy thing. That and worshipping dead dogs and yell practice.

And UT lights a tower made famous by a sniper to celebrate a National title...what's your point?

I was going to use the old saying about steers and queers but even I'm tired of that one.

Yeah me too. I have never heard it used as a quote against the state. Or those would be fightin' words. I mean, really, Texas (the state) would be known better for that Good Ol' Boy BULL. (and you gotta love that) And as far as the queers part....maybe California can claim that title. :D

Its all fun and games till we start calling names. My original post in this thread stated that I supported UT during the game...I just won't wear their colors (nor would I expect to see you at a highschool game wearing Purple and Gold). I'm glad to see any Texas team win it all. I would have preferred that it was AtM but I'm not bothered by UT winning it. If everybody else in the state wants to jump on the Puke orange bandwagon and buy their title shirts that's fine, just don't bother sending one to me.
