Vondrell is still committed to UT. I don't see him playing much RB since Charles has done so well this year. I think Mcgee is the better RB but I don't see him taking the position from Charles. There are a few other top rated RBs going to UT as well. So I guess Mcgee could be converted into a corner or something. I'm thinking they told him he will play somewhere or he would not be going there. He could run for any team in the country.

Texas has used two runningbacks for most of the time during Mack Brown's tenure there. Two years ago Selvin Young had gone down with an injury, but in the two seasons before that he split playing time with Cedric Benson. McGee will find his way onto the field as a runningback next year for Texas

Ken Rucker is the RB coach, but this was his first year at Texas. The coaching is and has been great, but I don't know any school that has had more pure talent at that position over the last 10 years than Texas. Priest Holmes, Ricky Williams, Cedric Benson, Jamaal Charles, Ramonce Taylor, etc.

As for McGee... he will be a major player on the team before long. I think he might red-shirt and bulk up a bit. I really expect him to get up to about Selvin Young's size (210-215 lbs.) which will give texas a slight change of pace from Jamaal Charles. After the red-shirt year, I wouldn't be surprised to see Ramonce used mostly at WR like he was earlier this year with JC and McGee getting a bulk of the touches.

Vondrell will be a RB at Texas. He is to much of a bigtime RB talent. I think he'll be redshirted (unless Texas has injury problems). But, Mcgee has the talent to a 1,000 rusher for a couple of seasons.:)

I agree with Texasfrog, Mcgee is a stud running back with just as much speed as Charles and bigger. He will play running back at Texas and cause some of the other backs to transfer.I think he was the best back in HS this year.

if he stays healthy it shouldn't take long for him to start standing out among the best college RBs in the nation. The guy has that much talent. Speed/toughness/elusiveness/size all rolled into one.

I hope he isn't red shirted. I think he is better than Charles in many aspects and he is definatley better than their #2 whoever he might be. The guy is ready to play college ball.

I don't know where Mack will play him...I just hope he has a huge supply of "stick'um" handy.

I expect McGee to red-shirt next year because Texas will be starting a new, freshman QB that has never taken a colligate snap. Mack is going to want as much experience on the field as possible to help out the young QBs and that means lots of Selvin, Ramonce, Jamaal, etc.

I also think this will be Jamaal's team next year. As a true freshman, this kid rushed for over 800 yards and 11 TDs on just 119 attempts despite missing a good amount of time because of injury. He also caught over 150 yards worth of passes and a couple of TDs. Jamaal has a kind of athletic ability and versatility that is very rare.

I think I know what you meant by that, and if thats the case, it wasn't Vondrell that fumbled in the Lufkin playoff game. I apologize if that wasn't what you were referring to.

Charles > McGee in high school. Doesn't mean the same will be true in college. I do think Charles is a 1500+ yard runner with good health next year. Only problem will be if he can get carries.

I think Vondrell will get some decent carries next year - Jamaal will get nicked a few times - and Ramonce is not an every down back.

Charles is a stud also ,but he needs to bulk up , he gets nicked to much.

guys i hate to break it to ya......McGee might not see the field ever check this out.

He will be red shirted why waste a year.

Texas has

Selvin Young 1 more year (probably be the starter)
Romance Taylor 2 Years
Jamal Charles for 3 more years
Henrey Melton 3 more years

bad thing for Mcgee is if Bradley stepehns goes to texas kids gonna be way better then McGee.

Texas will need a back like him. Charles will stay hurt half the time , Melton will last one more year as a battering ram and then blown up well over 300 pds.Selvin has one yr left..... he,s a great running back

I would think they'd use him the same way Chizik likes to use the linebackers; rotate them out a decent amount and let them blast on all cylinders 110%.
