Mr. Kent Atwell-AKA Atwelljroc passed away last evening.Do Not know any details.
For those of you who ran across his posts you know he was an ardent Judson supporter. His youngest son graduated after the 2007 season and is playing ball at Incarnate Word in SA.He was wa "Godly" man if you will and very passionate. He was always positive and had a way of getting some us back on track during our ongoing arguments of who was better etc...
If you care to take a few moments and read some of his posts-he would like that.
Please pray for his wife and boys and the rest of his family.
May he rest in peace.

This is sad news. May God bless his family through these tough times. My prayers go out to the Atwell family. Maybe we can get the Admins to sticky this at the top since it was one of our own. :(

During the last three or four months, we had the crossing over of a former AD, a former player, the father of the first family of Judson Basketball and now Atwell. RIP we will not forget.

Prayers to the Atwell family. He was a great supporter of Judson and we were lucky to have him as a part of our community. I traded e-mails back and forth with him on a couple of occasions, and he really had a lot of passion for the game and his Rockets.

My heart and prays go out to the Atwell family. Some of the Judson moms got together tonight and brought food over to the Atwell home. There was a lot of love and compassion within those four walls. The family is doing as well as can be expected. Kent was my football buddy at the games. I had season tickets sitting with the Judson moms but I always seemed to move up to the top of the stadium to sit with Kent and the football dads. I wanted to talk football so I knew where I needed to be :) I will have some fine memories of those games.

I just got back from Arizona (Erik Brown's neck of the woods to be precise) and just found out. This is a sock in the gut and a stab in the heart. I only talked with him in person twice but we communicated numerous times via PM on this board and he was a truly special person that you could tell had love coursing through every part of his being. He and I were also about the same age so something like this reminds a person once again of how fragile life is and that the Lord of Life is the one that ultimately runs the show. My heart goes out to his two sons because when I was the age they are right now my parents were about the same age as Mr. Atwell was, and I always feared the thought of losing one of my parents at that age.

Oh my goodness fellow 5Aers......I attended Kent's memorial service this evening. It was the most inspirational service I have ever attended. Kent was a good man, father, husband and follower of Jesus. I learned so much about his life and what he has given to the community. There were so many friends and family there that it was overwhelming. I thought I wasn't going to make it when I saw what a die heart Judson fan he was. He is being buried in his son Matt's Judson Jersey. My emotions were overwrought but then I remembered him saying to me that he will always be a true Judson fan.........I will miss our football talks at Judson stadium................

As soon as I heard the news I asked for when the memorial service was and unfortunently I can't attend the funeral service tomorrow,
Mt Atwell was the nicest person I met in the Judson community. He payed me 50 bucks to take a few extra pictures of his son and send them to him for football games. I remember meeting him before the Southwest game. He was a really spiritual man. I know he is in a better place and I will keep his family in my prayers.

I attended both the memorial and funeral. Mr. Atwell will be missed! He was a great Godly man who loved everyone. He loved and supported his family with everything he was. My daughter and I went back to the grave site today just to say our own personal good-byes. Many prayers to the family. Prayers for Matt to continue his love of football and play his heart ane know his dad will be cheering for him.

I know I'm late to this thread but I posted in the Judson thread because I never saw this one.
RIP Mr. Atwell, you will be missed!
When I read that he was buried in Matt's Judson jersey I got goosebumps, how hard it must be for Matt and the whole Atwell family. I wish I could have talked more with Mr. Atwell, the few times I did speak with him were definently memorable!
I posted on another link as well, having NO idea.
RIP Mr. Atwell. Class fella!
