I think the Texans probably still pick Bush - but, and I could be wrong, the Texans have a few days to decide if they pay Carr a bonus that secures him a few more years? Not sure, but I think that's right.

I'm almost positive Vince will play for the Longhorns for one more year. I think it's like a goal for him to win the Heisman before going pro.
If he decides to go pro, I believe the Texans should ,but probably won't, pick him. I like Carr, but think VY is better, They could trade Carr for "O" line help. That said, Vince will probably stay at Texas next year.

if Young comes out it just adds one more great player to the top 5 picks, which can really help the value of their pick. The Texans could trade this pick and still pick up a really good player.

Wishful thinking.....if the Texans want Vince...they better trade that #1 pick...for next year's #1 pick......because Vince is not coming out.

hhhhmmmm. people are saying the same thing about brad smith of mizzou. according to things i have read, seen, and heard, vy needs to improve his passing (even though he had the highest qb rating in the ncaa.) look at michael vick. the guy CANNOT throw. but he makes plays by scrambling and getting away from defenders. it depends on what team vy goes too.

VY is a QB all the way. There should be no doubt of that now.
I think Brett Favre is a good name to toss out there to shut anyone up who doesn't think Vince can be a pro QB because of throwing motion or any other "technical glitches", and I'm not even a Packer fan.
I think that kind of thing can be hugely overrated and overanalyzed. NFL scouts are paid to overanalyze the hell out of every prospect. It's ridiculous really.
Brett Favre does just about everything the opposite of what "the QB textbook" says, but he's managed to become one of the greatest NFL QBs to ever play the game. How many times have you seen Favre drop the ball by his hip and then rifle a ball into heavy coverage or wiggle away from a sack attempt and then find his third option on an adjusted route?
He's been successful because he plays without fear, and you can see how much he enjoys playing the game. He laughs and pats DLs/LBs on the helmet after getting sacked. He is a flat out winner, and in his prime he was in total command of what was happening on the field.
I believe VY shares a lot of those same leadership and personality traits. He has "it" across the board. He has a commanding presence on the field and athletic ability that will drop your jaw. He can shrug off a square hit from a DL, and leave a DB grabbing air. He can throw to every part of the field now with accuracy after hard work during last summer.
There is no doubt in my mind Vince Young can be a pro quarterback. His improvement and production while at Texas speaks for itself. In my opinion, it doesn't matter how you do it as long as you get the job done. You just can't teach what VY brings to the table.

If he's there and they don't take him then Casserly and the whole bunch are stupid. At a time when ticket sales are starting to go down drafting him would instantly bring them right back up. And I laugh every time I ehar the media or anyone else question his passing ability. From the time I saw him play against North Shore till now there was no doubt the man can throw the football. it may not always be a pretty throw but he can throw the football. I look at this as being the equivalent of the Astro's signing Rodger Clemens two season's ago. Carr was a good college quarterback but as we all know not all good college quarterbacks become good pro quaterbacks.

PEOPLE,
Vince has NOTHING to gain for staying another year. If we lost the game I would be for it. Heisman you say? Who CARES! That doesn't put millions of dollars and a chance to play for your home town team! Besides, why risk the injury factor for staying? He is at the TOP of his game NOW, I say take that to the NFL while it is HOT and Bob McNair needs to WAKE UP and pick Young! Why pick Bush? There will ALWAYS be a RB out there!
ONLY ONE VINCE YOUNG!!

Yeah but we all know they never really make up their minds until the very last second on draft day. As I said above if he is there and they don't take him they had better be ready for a hellacious backlash from the fans.

Good running backs in the NFL are all over the place. You DO NOT find a QB that can turn a franchise around like Vince could. Most teams have 2-3 good rb`s,most of them really need a leader/QB.If Vince was to come out,and the Texans are stupid enough (which i dont think they are)to take Bush,or who ever instead of the "Franchise QB".We could see Vince land in the meadowlands playing for the Jets..........

The season ticket holders could help the Texans decide to draft Young, but it would take a flood of phone calls on a daily bases, starting 2 weeks before draft day. Remember, money talks, and season ticket holders are money!

Just herd that some jackass announcer talked to Charlie Casserly and has plans on paying Carr is bonus and going for Bush. WHY DOESN'T BOB M. FIRE THIS IDIOT??? WHAT DOES HE KNOW ABOUT BUILDING A TEAM?? This is the same guy that got rid of all our leading tacklers last year and brought Ray Buchanan here. GREAT MOVES SO FAR! Vince is , ONE OF A KIND!! We can get a RB from anywhere! Bush only plays like 10 to 15 plays a game! He can't carry the ball 30 times, he is to small for that!
Bush doesn't even want to play here, he want's to play at San Fran, I say GO THEN!
I will NEVER BE A TEXAN FAN IF WE LET VINCE SLIP THROUGH OUR HANDS!
Look at the picture here, I say the best college QB EVER to play the game, from Houston, has a chance to PLAY for his Home team! What could be better?

I am with you all the way! How do we get rid of CASSERLY so we can get Vince to come home? I'm telling you, If we blow this because of him, I will never want to root for my own team, I don't want Vince to play anywhere else, HE IS TO GOOD TO PASS UP! We have the chance of a lifetime here to bring him home, I don't see it any other way really? Carr has had 4 YEARS, 4! If Vince had 4 years his numbers would BLOW Carr's away! With Vince your O-Line is automaticaly 30% to 40% better!!

I agree totally with that 30-40% better O line.Trade the most sacked qb of all time, for a really good O lineman, draft Vince (if he comes out),and draft some more O linemen.if thier offense is on the field longer, the D will be alot better, and rested.

Reggie Bush is a flashy running back not a great one. He had some fantastic runs and great games during the season but once he faced a great defense, he didnt really have much of an impact on the game.

If Young knew the Texans would pick him HE WOULD COME OUT!!!
THIS IS A NO BRAINER TO ME!! BUSH IS NOT THAT GOOD!!! HE ONLY CARRIED THE BALL 15 TIMES A GAME! NOT TO MENTION HE DOESN'T EVEN WANT TO PLAY FOR US! SEND HIM TO SAN FRAN WITH HIS BOY ALEX SMITH!

he did have an impact on the game. it wasnt his typical reggie bush performance but id have to say 250 TOTAL yards and 1 td would have an impact on the game. and hes a great running back....by the way.

Don't kid yourselves Reggie Bush is the real deal. Sure eh may have only averaged 15 carries a game, but he when you figure in the receptions not to mention the changes a defense has to make when a player like him is on the field. He may not carry the ball but 15 time however at the end of the game he will have had his hands on the ball at least 20 times. Either one of them will help the Texans out tremendously. I just think in going with Vince you'll bring back some who have already begun to turn their backs on the team as qwell as all of those from his area of town.

If I were the Texans...and Vince went pro......I still wouldn't draft him.
I think Vince is an incredible athlete...but learning to play QB in the NFL is not an overnight thing. It will be a good 2 years before the Texans would even benefit from drafting Vince.
If I were Houston...I would trade the 1st pick....and make a blockbuster deal with someone that really wants Reggie Bush.

That's why you go ahead and give Carr his bonus that keeps him around for the next two years. Thus allowing Vince time to learn the pro game and you can brign him in durign some of those blowouts we seems to always be in.

Well according to this report the Texans will take Bush...
The Houston Texans will select USC running back Reggie Bush with the No. 1 pick in this April's NFL draft, pending the formality of Bush announcing that he is turning pro, team and league sources told Chris Mortensen.
Almost nothing will change that course, the sources say, even after the Texans received word Friday from an intermediary representing Texas quarterback Vince Young that the Houston native is leaning strongly to also going pro. On Sunday, Young confirmed that choice.
The Texans will pick up an $8 million option on quarterback David Carr, who was the expansion team's first draft pick four years ago. Texans owner Bob McNair made the decision after getting extensive evaluations from various sources that strongly endorsed Carr, including a favorable report from Dan Reeves, the former longtime NFL coach hired last month as a consultant.

This seems to be a variation of the traditional Aggie jokes. We'll have to start Texan jokes. All season long, they've gone to great lengths to find new and creative ways to lose. Now, a home town kid has just electrified the nation and far outshone his two Heisman competitors in the national championship, and management thinks it's time to re-up Carr and take the running back Bush? Only the Texans could be that stupid (except for maybe the Saints--aren't they the #2 pick?)

yeah I am,and my point was.......................Those "3" would be better than Carr,Johnson,& Bush.No ONE and I mean no ONE knew that Troy,Emmitt, and Irvin would be what they were. With a better line, which Vince would make them just by being the running threat, and size and speed of Johnson, and The running, and recieving out of the back field for Davis,YES they could very well be.
There are already teams that are doing it right now.Like the Bengals with Palmer,Ch.Johnson, and and Rudy Johnson. When Jackson is healthy for seattle, you have the 3 there. It`s not that uncommon any more.
