Vincent Young. It's amazing to have watched his progress from his sophomore year at Madison High School to tonight at the Rose Bowl. He's the best football player I've ever seen. He went into Jordan mode again tonight just like he did against Michigan last year. Refused to lose.
Outstanding stop by the defense on 4th and 2 when LenDale White had been moving the ball at will.

Young > Mike Vick
There is only 1 QB better than Young and Vick and that man is named P. Manning

Even though I live in Austin, I've not sat down all year to watch UT play. I have to say that I can't think of any QB better than our boy Vince... I was just sitting there stunned the whole 2nd half of the game. Completely stunned. Baby came in here and worried I had fallen asleep because I had evidently quit yelling at the tube and got quiet. She says: "What's wrong?" I says: "Sit here for a second and watch this f-ing QB play." She never did get back up and leave. We both sat there for the 4th with our jaws on the floor.
WOW is really about all I can say. That sucker is better than good... WOW!

I really just didn't pay attention to him until tonite.. I cant imagine having to play against him in HS. I'm sure he wasnt quite as big then, but still. He's huge. He's agile as anything I've ever seen. He's got a good arm. He's got the championship. Is there anything this man does not have?
Not that Texas ever looks bad in football, but he sure makes it shine... I am no officially a believer...

I think VY is much further along in how he sees the field in the passing game than Vick was at this point. Vick still doesn't always see the field very well, and is obviously much more brittle with his smaller frame against NFL defenses. Vince can shrug off tackles from anyone because of his size and elusiveness.
Manning and Brady are the top two QBs in the NFL right now in my opinion. It will be interesting to see what decision Young makes. The Texans can lure him out, but we'll have to see who they hire and what direction they want to go.

I think your right. It would be the best choice to leave now, but I sure do want to see him in Burnt Orange next season! :D

Tonight we all witnessed something very special. The title has returned to the homeland and Vince Young made all the Heisman voters, espn analysts, hell all the sports analysts sit back and rethink their entire perception of the season and the players they thought were the best. Vince Young looked like a man amongst boys out there tonight. He didn't even look like he was trying on those 2 crutial touchdowns at the end of the game. He practically walked in that 10 yarder to win the game. Leinert was absolutley shut down. Suddenly a hesiman winner and one of the best qb's in ages was shut down. Bush had one great play, other than that he was a non facotr. LenDale White looked was the closeset USC had to anything to compete with Young, and hes a 2nd string RB. Simply amazing. I'm gonna go watch espn and laugh as all the analysts try and jump from the USC bandwagon to the Texas Bandwagon. Congrgulations Longhorns.

Somethings in life are more important than money. Maybe we might see something rare but tends to happen at texas; a spectacular talent who feels more loyal to his school and teamates than to hiself. Roy Williams stuck around, so did cedric benson,so have all of these terrific linemen, and derrick johnson hell even Ricky Williams one of the most selfish guys in the nfl (miami fell apart when he left to smoke weed) stayed for his senior year. There is something in the water in Austin that keeps guys there whereas other schools lose player there junior years left and right.

in case u missed it, they played the national championship game tonight and reggie was practically shut down with the exception of one play. Young on the other hand practically willed Texas to the championship and pretty much walked in the winning TD.

If VY does decide to leave, the Texans will be put in a no-win situation from a PR point of view with the draft.
I think David Carr can be a very good QB in the right system with the right coach. Gary Kubiak would be perfect for Carr in my opinion. I think the Texans will pick Reggie Bush as long as things don't change in work outs. I hope Bush runs the 40 at the combine because I'd like to see just how fast he is on the track.
Right now, Randy Moss is still the fastest football player I've ever seen. Moss has been clocked sub 4.2 since he's been in the pros. 4.18 is the fastest 40 time I've heard for Moss.
I see Bush as a Marshall Faulk clone. Again, Houston's football fanbase is going to split itself down the middle for Bush-Young if VY does leave. There's nothing more I'd like to see than VY at QB for his, and my, home town team. However, I don't see the Texans choosing a QB.

I was looking at the stats a few minutes ago and he so overshadows his teammates, it isn't even funny. Mack will cry if VY comes out early. The dude is good. I'm very impressed with how much he has improved while he's been in college.

I'd think LSU fans who follow recruiting must be ready to hunt down Nick Saban after that game.
From what I followed on the situation back as it was happening, and from what Vince was saying at the time, LSU was the clear school to beat for his signature until Saban told him he was being recruited as a WR like two other HISD guys he'd reeled in (Joseph Addai from Sharpstown and Jerel Myers from Madison).
Addai and Myers were both QBs also. Myers was Madison's QB in 97 and 98 right before Vince took over as a sophomore in 99. Myers wasn't near the passer VY was, so his move to WR was expected at the next level. Addai is awesome, and could probably play any position well if he worked at it save for maybe OL/DL.
Back to VY...after LSU told him WR, I believe Miami emerged as the favorite after that and it took some Houdini recruiting work by Mack Brown-Tim Brewster (former UT recruiter in charge of Houston, now in NFL) to convince Vince to stay in state and be able to play in front of his mom and other family.
Crazy how these things work out...
