I put absolutely no stock in a pre-season 'all-state' team. In fact, I think it's :Censor: BS that they do it. The reason I don't believe in doing it is that other kids around the State could have better, sometimes much better seasons then the kids on the list yet not get selected at the end of the year (when it is for real) even if they've earned it because of pre-season BS hype!

I do understand that this sells magazines and makes people happy to see their names on the list and that is all really cool. Fine with me, but just throw this list in the flippin toilet as soon as the season starts and wipe the slate clean for all athletes to truly earn all-state honors on the field.

I'd rather not see ANY pre-season all-state teams posted anywhere! Pre-season don't mean a damn thing. All that matters is what is done on the field, not on paper! :D

Actually it means a couple of things. They will sell some magazines this year and if they hit on a few of their picks it will help them sell some magazines next year.

I just don't put much stock in pre-season hoopla! You can have a load of talent coming back and it just doesn't pan out.......or visa versa!

3 years ago DC didn't even have SC making the playoffs and they made it to the state semis where they basically handed LaMarque the game via 5 TOs. They held LM to 67 yards total offense and lost the game!!!! SC had quite a few kids coming back that year including a couple of studs but DC didn't even have them making the playoffs! This year his playoff bracket has them going to the title game in D2 and loosing to Denison. WTF is he smoking!

Yeah, that is a bit throwed off!

Maybe he's a believer in staying under the radar. But, then again, if that were the case, he'd have Clemens as a sleeper, and probably, not predicted to go to the title game at all.

Dave definitely knows how to make things interesting. That could be a reason why the people keeps buying it.

He doesn't have Clemens going to the title game, but he does have them winning region 4. He has Denison/Angleton in the Div 2 title game.
