View Full Version : Who should coach the Texans?

If the decision is yours to make, who do you pick as head coach of the Texans?
I really like two of the possible candidates mentioned on 610 this morning, Gary Kubiak and Jerry Gray. Both have roots in Texas of course. Kubiak's an Aggie and Gray is a Horn. Kubiak could have a major head coaching gig in college right now if he wanted. He's passed up opportunities to wait his turn in the NFL. I get the feeling Houston just might be what he's looking for.
I'd rather go the direction of a well respected coordinator like Kubiak/Gray than recycle people like Martz/Haslett. Lovie Smith and Marvin Lewis have worked out great as coordinators turned head coaches.
I'd be very happy with either Kubiak or Gray.
Kubiak would be my choice. The Texans need to open up the offense. With Bush (assuming they keep him), there are fine skill players. The "O" line still needs to be addressed. I'd like to see Mike Singletary as defensive coordinator if he's available. Thought of him for head coach, but probably not experienced enough.

I would look to the college ranks. A guy like Kirk Ferentz (who has NFL experience), Mike Bellotti or Bob Stoops.
However, none of it matters of Casserly is still the GM.

I would say Mike Martz but he is a long shot. I heard rumors, while he was out recovering from that heart condition, that he may coach the Texans although it looks like they are probably considering Kubiak from Denver. The good news is that Capers is finally fired and the Texans are going to pick Reggie Bush. :D

Todd Dodge.
I wish that would actually happen. Dodge is committed to high school coaching and committed to the Southlake Carroll football program to become the texans coach.

Either Wide or Kubiak would make a great choice for the Texans.

Haslett is a possibility but I don't know about Tice. Sure he brought the Vikings back from a 2-5 record and nearly got them in the playoffs. I just hope that if he does get the texans coaching job that he doesn't have us in another one of those boat parties to cause another boat scandal.

Harrington is not the problem up there coaching was and is....there are worse QB's than Harrington playing in this league. Like David Carr for example or Kyle Boller or JP losman...I would take Harrington over those clowns.

carr? no way, he has NO offensive line..
boller, eh hes shown bright spots, and doesnt have the supporting cast at WR like harrington does/did
JP, well i dont know with him, it was stupid for them to think he was better than bledsoe
