Okay so, I've seen pictures of Donovonn but, it sounds like I'm going to have to go see this dude in person. My nephew that attends Nimitz has told me that Donovonn is sick!
I gotta see this for myself!

It's in the college board because I view everyone as a prospect.
How much does he weigh right now? Does he have true speed? Does he like contact? Can he block? Can he compete with a kid like Malcolm Brown (God)?

Will see since he is out of a Spread offense and now in a run based offense.
Potential is there....

Sleeper
It’s not often that a 5A prospect from the Houston area can be considered a sleeper, but former Humble running back Donovonn Young is just that. The 5-10, 207-pounder, who will play at Katy High in 2009, battled a high ankle sprain for more than half of the season and has flown under the radar compared to many of his peers.
Young played four full games and parts of three others as a sophomore rushing for 472 yards and five scores on 72 carries.
The most physically impressive of the running backs is blessed with good feet and flexibility with the ability to cut both laterally and vertically. Young uses a powerful body type, especially in the lower body, to run through arm tackles and maximize

You know, i said i wasn't going to post anymore...bust considering that this of a related subject...ill go ahead and interject quickly and get the hell out of dodge.
Young is a complete and total back....
1. he stands at 5'11 weights 215-218lbs.
2. His bench that was last recorded at Humble is: 355lbs
3. his PC last recorded at Humble: 300lbs
4. His Vertical last recorded at Humble: 31 inches
5. Squat: 500lbs (or 515..one of the two)
He is a fantastic student, and favor Texas extremely heavily. In fact he wants to go no where else but Texas...other choices would probably be out of state.
he is Physically like Leo Mills, Built like Christine Michaels....Runs like Sam McGuffie, and Aundre Dean Mix.
His Speed is faster then Dada's posted 4.49.... Humble clocked him at 4.46, and Humble traditionally has slower times not faster (old joke around here...David Givens had a 4.6 his sr year...anyone that watched him play knows differently...)
His Dad is about 6'1-6'2....by the time its done he will probably be a smaller version of Adrian Peterson body wise...his running style however is very different...he isn't a physical back like some would expect given his size, he is EXTREMELY agile...and his balance is amount the best i have seen in some time.
if his potential is met, he will be Jamal Charles like...just bigger...

Got it!
According to my nephew, he's about 5'11, and yes, he can move laterally.
According to me, (and I know him), he is freakishly large but is hesitant to drop his shoulder. He only moves laterally, otherwise Humble would have had a better season. The coaches have to ride him to get him to follow his blocks, but for his sake, I hope the Katy coaches can put him on the right path.

that's what happens in a spread offense....I think Katy's offense will be better suited. And the thing is.....if he can't follow his blocks at Katy....he won't play RB, nothing will be given to him...especially when Katy's rb's are so deep. They have a kid names Jeremy Miller who would start at any other school in the district and maybe Houston area who's going to be on JV to get reps...So if he can't follow blocks....he better learn fast. Let's see what he can do with a FB in front of him and a line that opens holes that you can drive a car through.

Theirs no doubt in my mind that he can get it done, dada....at either school he would of succeeded. He is hard headed, as JOH indicated.
The Coaches at Katy have a better coaching system and Disciplinary structure then Humble. They have ways of motivating the kids that Humble just doesn't use, and could honestly learn from.
The day the Head Coach at Humble instills the same sort of standards Katy has for not only its Players but coaches....it will be the day and season you watch Humble wipe the floor with everyone they come in contact with.
Humble continuously has some of the states most lucrative talent....but the overall program discipline from player to coach is...im sorry to say...Poor.

I sure hope so. He plays a lot smaller than he is- thinks hes the quickest thing on his feet. Hopefully Katy will give him a wake up call, and I can watch him all the way through college.

That has a lot to do with not knowing who he is as a runner... I think his junior year will and would have (at either school) helped him discover his strength. He looks like he is coming into his own as an athlete as he gets accustomed to his size.
He saw a huge burst in size from his Freshman and Sophomore years. He could of been that scat back at his freshman size, which was already pretty damn big at 5'11 190lbs....But he has to learn to embrace his size...Pretty sure he will get it done. The Katy system kind of makes you into that back, because it is a smashmouth offense.
he'll be fine.

Maybe. It seems to me he is at his physical peek (in terms of high school- running a 4.48 and bench pressing some 315 pounds all while squatting a cow) , and if he is ever to do well, than he has to get the mentality to be a successful running back. He's cocky and boisterous, but lacks something that I can't seem to put my finger on.
