Thanks to our awesome AFN, I had to listen to a radio broadcast of the Cotton Bowl. They have 10 AFN channels to choose from but refused to show Tech and the Iowa games at the same time. They have the Wisconsin game on, but not the Louisville game. That's garbage. Tech will be on tape delay 12 hours from now.

Before I get to Tech, I'd like to talk about the end of the Iowa game. That was a garbage call when they said Iowa was offsides on that recovered onside kick. They took a potential win away from the Hawkeyes. They should've had a replay to go to in that Bowl.

The Cotton Bowl was a hard-fought game. Alabama made plays on the last drive and got the winning FG. They've won games like that all year. They're a good team and they had just enough to win today. I'm proud of all Tech has done this year. It was a lot of fun and I'm glad they got to the Cotton Bowl. I really think the future is bright for Tech. They just need to keep getting better and better recruits and they should be a national power.

This deployment has been a lot of fun for me sports-wise, but it has been bitter, too. I would've been at the Fort Worth Bowl to see Houston lose. I would've been at the Cotton Bowl to see Texas Tech lose. I would've seen Judson lose the title, and I would've seen the Astros lose in the World Series. That's a lot of fun to see it come crashing down. I guess it doesn't pay to wear red!:D Not that it hurts as much, but I might've seen Katy lose and they wear red, too.

In case you don't remember, they come from the same state you live in. I can promise you a lot of Tech fans are rooting for UT, but that concept seems to be lost on UT fans.

Well Lonny...this game showed that that so-called high powered TT offense was actually outgained by Alabama. If Alabama could have got in the endzone when they should have it would have not been this close. Imagine mighty TT getting out passed and out rushed by Alabama:rolleyes: And just for you Lonny so as to not seem too biased I am watching my boys lose right now as well so I report all I see;)

I couldn't see the game, but I have a question. How come Tech couldn't get the ball to Hicks and Filani? They kept throwing fades and they weren't catching them even though they had a huge height advantage.

I don't buy into the if Alabama did this or that argument. They had chances and Tech had some chances and the game probably turned out about how it should.

I'm sure steve, like I, was rooting for Tech. Doesn't mean we have to be sympathetic when they lost...

Tech could not get untracked offensively - 'Bama was better prepared and played better - but I thought Tech would take it in OT. Man, that last kick by 'Bama was ugly... but good.

McKinner Dixon from Lufkin played a very solid game at left DE for Tech, except for the lame roughing the qb call. Tech's D looked fierce.

The Bama front four dominated the Tech O-line. They were constantly flushing the QB out of the pocket and that will doom Tech. Hodges can make things happen with his feet, and he did, but he will never win a game with his legs. When Hodges is out of the pocket, he's not a very good passer at all. Also, because Tech's passing game is so dependent on timing, the pressure knocks that timing off and completely screws up the passing game. Bottom line, Tech just didn’t have and answer for Bama's D-line. The fade passes they were throwing up were a desperate attempt to negate the pass rush, but it didn't work because the Alabama CBs played outstanding and shut those plays down. Outstanding job of coaching from the Bama staff.

Techs D gave up 420 yards... to ALABAMA minus Prothro...that was real fierce dude:rolleyes:

Brad Sham was doing the play-by-play and he said it was ugly. They had Shea Walker with him and that dude sounds just like Namath.

I heard they were jamming the receivers on the line, too.

I agree lonny23 - they got robbed. Like the announcer was saying the game was going way too fast to make a call like that.

Lets face it, BAMAs D is great. They held opponets under 14 points all but twice. Tech was way overrated this year, thats what happens when you play a bunch of pish-posh teams before conference games.

It has nothing to do with being overrated. Tech was ranked about where they should be and they'll still be close to 18 after Thursday.
