5a Poster's Spring Softball Tournament

Might take a little effort to pull off. I was thinking if we could agree on a date this spring we could put together a softball tournament among the posters on this board. We would need an agreed upon nuetral site; Possibly Waco, (up for futher debate); someone willing to make the arraingements (a poster located where the tournament would be). The one making the arraingements could collect the money from the teams entering the tournament. Each team could collect money from the players on the team. It really wouldn't be too costly to pull off. Put together a team with your favorite posters or put together one with posters in your area(practice is easier this way).

I really have been blessed to meet several of yall; not only in my area, but also in Waco and Irving. A little softball tournament between us posters would be a wonderful opportunity to eat some good food, play some ball and just visit. At the half time break we could pass out some awards. Maybe the KT bros. could show up and say a few words.

Would really need a good HOST to take charge of this event.

Teams-Name your team, start a thread, get people to join.
Host city and Host person-Nominate your city and your ability and we'll make a decision later. Can't wait.

I know Lufkin may not be central site, but we just opened a softball park here. 4 new fields(300') very nice. I have thrown several softball Tounaments over the years, so if I can help? Let me know. Is this strictly for the board member? (teams). I bet I could get the booster club to cook BBQ for it. When looking for a site, keep in mind the fee to use the fields. Here in Lufkin they will not charge us for lights. Just the fields & umpires. I am also a ASA umpire so if you need a ump. I can, otherwise count me in to play.

Yes , the fields are very nice! The mens draft league will start up in March. This could be a great event. Have a Mens Div. & Womens Div. If not enough womens teams, make it Co-Ed. Give a Tshirt for Tour MVP, Def. MVP & HR Champ etc.

trust me..they are alike and different the only thing you would have trouble with is pitching underhand and batting..well batting because the swing is the exact opposite as baseball..

Something that I think would help posters to start forming teams is to pick a date and a place. Really, no one else has offered except LP78(he has plenty of expirience in these softball tournaments).

I suggest that if no one steps up and counters the offers that LP78 has made by 1/07/06; then I move that he should be name 5a Poster's Spring Softball Tournament Director.

Someone please 2nd this nomination.

I'll practice before the game rolls around. If nothing else I can bat left handed and base hit them to death.

Little known fact about ol' wide-e-wide...I had surgery on my left eye when I was 12...about 2 months before baseball season started...
Well...my recovery time was a little bit off...It was April and my eyesight was still terrible in my left eye. So what does my Dad do??????...That's right...he told me to start taking BP left-handed...hahaha

I hit left-handed for about half the season. I had little to no power...but I was a base hit machine. Made the all-star team batting the wrong way for half of the season...not too bad huh?

Considering the large number of posters from both Dallas and San Antonio...it's a perfect fit. Now the Lufkin folks might not want to travel that far...but it ain't too bad of a drive...I do it all the time.

Starting a thread would be good. You could have a co-ed & mens. Which ever works out.

Softball uses 10 players. So each team would need at least 10+ players. 5 men & 5 women for co-ed.

Have the money turned in the Wensday before the Tournament. That way we know who's coming for sure.

Waco has some nice parks. The main thing is to decide on a site & then reserve it for that date.

If its in Waco? Slap-e-Slap is buying the brew. Wide, if you put a team together, it should be the the BREW CREW!

3. It would be best if it where teams from areas & then if people still wanted to play, say from SA & DFW & each only had 6 from each area. They could put together a team.

Note: If this is going to be played on a Saturday which I'm sure it is. We ought to have a Get together at a set Hotel in that City on Friday night for those comming in. We could get a group rate for those comming. Just a thought.

You have to pick when you want to do it first.

At that time, you secure a location to play.

Then you find out how many people definitely will come.

Then, and only then, can you decide how you're going to put teams together. I think it's going to be hard to put in practice time and we may be better off putting teams together at the last minute when we get there. I'm betting we can do a lot of planning and people won't show up and we'll just have to adjust the plan.

I know there are serious softball players out there who want to win the tournament and thats O.K. I just want to get to know some of yall and have a great day.

I think we should have a half way break in the tournament. Lp78 and Wide or his better half should be recognized, have a few words, and maybe if Lonny23 is available he could pass out a few awards. We are difineatley working on our team; but I am afraid support for this tournament leaves a lot to be desired. I think we need from 6 to 8 teams. Please respond if you are going to have a team. Please vote on the date and location. I would love for this tournament to happen, but if the teams don't committ, then it most likely wont.
