View Full Version : Season Ticket Renewal - Changes?

I have a thought.
The price of tickets keeps going up and I understand that and I am not starting a tread about the price, but I would like to talk about renewing or exchanging of tickets.
Each year we renew our tickets for professional football and baseball. After the deadline to renew people over so many years have a day they can come in and exchange for better seats that have not been renewed. Than the next day another group, etc, etc until the day comes when they go on sale to the public. In this time frame normally you can not buy more tickets, but you can exchange all or some of your tickets for better seats.
All I would like to see is if you have season tickets and have renewed you should have a day when you can come in and exchange them for the better seats that have not been renewed before they go on sale to the public.
I am long time supporter of our team and I don't want to wait in line over night again to try and exchange a couple odd seats I have for better ones. I tried it one year and I arrived around 5 am and when I finally made in to the room they said all the tickets were gone. The guy in the front of the line arrived around 6 pm the night before.
I think just like any system it can be improved.
What do you think about having a day after they close for renewals that the previous season ticket holders can exchange only what they have (so 4 seats for 4 seats) for better seats if available? This way the number of seats still available to the public stays the same, but the old season ticket holders are rewarded if they wish with better seats.
Does your school have a better program to reward long time season ticket holders?

Pflugerville does this. Last year's season ticket holders get notified by letter of the time period (usually a week) when you can come get your same tickets from the previous year. Then there is a short period where you can go back and "move up" if you want to. Then the remaining seats go out to the public. It's a good way to do it. Kellie

Possible yes, but way too logical for it to happen for us.

At Carroll we have a renewal dead line date that is not flexible. Then we have a day that current ticket holders can come in and exchange tickets for better ones and after that they have a different day that tickets go on sale to the general public.

Be glad there are season tickets available at all. Permian hasn't sold the rights to season tickets for at least the last 5 years. I would gladly wait in line over night for them. :p

I have done that and I do not think that is the issue. I think he is agitated because he is a current ticket holder, already did the overnight thing and now just wants to trade his tickets but has to do the overnight thing again. I had a blast when I did it but I do not think it would be as fun the second time especially if all I wanted to do was trade for different seats.

yes, you are correct. Currently, previous ticket holders have certain days they can renew their tickets. After that, what is left or has not been renewed goes on sale to the public. If you want better or different seats, you have to wait in line like everyone else and hope there is something available when you get to the front of the line.

AH... I see. I have one overnight line standing per year usually and sometimes two - just for tickets to a single game. In 2007, I camped out for tickets to the Permian v OHS game, and for the Brownwood playoff game tickets. Not too big of a deal to me and my fellow obsessives. :D (Thank goodness I had a boss who didn't mind if I was useless the next day.)

Thanks for the information.
I want to write a letter and I want to inform them this is not something I just dreamed up and it works at other big time football schools.
I really like the people around me and I have a seat behind and one infront of me. While picking up my tickets they told me the seat infront next to mine was not purchased last year. I said great let me give you the one back that was behind me and I will just take the other one infront so my family can sit in a block. I was told they can't do it and if I want to do that I will have to wait in line again.
I just like logic...

Wow, that sounds like somebody just trying to keep their little bit of power in their little kingdom.
We usually get a letter in June from the athletics supervisor with the dates and procedure. You'll probably want to write your letter sooner than later, but when I get the letter, I'll post it on here, just for everyone's perusal. Good luck with your letter.

They do have it down to a science and Katy does a good job of selling the tickets to pervious season ticket holders, but they don't offer season ticket holders the opinion of changing their seats before they go on sale to the public.

High school football fans camped out of Carroll ISD's administration building Monday night and sacrificed hours of sleep to get first dibs on Southlake Carroll High School's football season tickets, which went on sale this morning.
Sean Wayton, a parent, waited in line with the rest of the Dragon fans.
"The rule of thumb here is you have to start early," he said.
Wayton admitted he is confident he will get the season tickets after waiting for three years.
One of his sons will be attending the school as a freshman and the other will be a sixth grader. Both of them have been playing football since third grade, Wayton added.
Dragon season tickets have been sold to as much as $600 in past seasons.
