Kobe has a freaking shot that can be unstoppable. i think he could hit his J blindfolded.
I still don't like the guy. I like watching the contrasting leadership styles of Kobe and LeBron. Kobe seems to think he can force his teammates to be better through fear, as Jordan did. lebron comes across as "We'll get through this together." Either style can work, so it should be quite entertaining to watch them play out...
Kobe doesn't seem near as "in-control" as Jordan was, although there are times when that "it" factor is just screaming through the TV that Kobe and his team are going to win.

Kobe does it night in night out, thats why he will win a ring this year. If the cavs were in the western confernce I'm not so sure they would still be playing. Kobe is the best closer Barnone.

I guess hitting 4 out of 4 freethrows in the last 24 seconds doesn't make your cut huh? What about a well defended 3 pointer to give your team a lead with 40 seconds left? What a great way to determine how clutch a player is.

So like if a team is up by 20 points and someone just happened to get a garbage bucket or if someone just shoots up a hail marry for the fun of it during the regular season. This all counts doesn't it.
Can you come up with a stat that shows the 24 second rule when the game is a 1 possession game? That would be cool and somewhat more telling I suppose?

As I posted in the LeBron thread, this isn't about garbage, it's all about clutch.
It's about fg percentage in possessions in the last 24 seconds of games when your team is either tied or 1 or 2 points behind, which figures out all garbage points and layups when you are 3 points behind.

Well I'm sure In most case Kobe was being doubled teamed and whatnot, Noone would dispute Kobe is the best Closer in the NBA, and 99.9% of people(excpet you of course) would give the ball to Kobe if they could choose any player to take the last shot of a game. that Statistic just has to many variable that could go with it.

I agree that perception is reality, and perception is that Kobe is a closer.....the numbers say Jason Terry and Udonis Haslem are better inside of 24 seconds that Kobe is.
I'm being facetious, but you get my drift......he's not as good as he is perceived....the numbers prove it....he is way below the league average in fg percentage inside of 24 seconds, .250 vs the league avg. of .29 something.

Meh. That's a nice reach. As for the game, Lakers gave extremely poor effort, ESPECIALLY from the Bigs. Denver Bigs just straight up outhustled the Laker Bigs. Too many offensive rebounds. The main difference in this game was the rebounding and J.R. Smith. As for the rebounding, it HAS to be fixed. As for Smith, he's having the game of his year. He will not do this every game, and the fact the Lakers were close the whole game makes me feel comfortable for next game. Oh well. This will just tie up the series. Back to L.A. we go! :notworthy

Sometimes it seems like the Lakers think that the other team should just quit. Almost like.... "Hey, don't you know... we are the Lakers ?"..... looks like another 7 game series. With the Lakers running the Nuggets out of Staples in a winner take all snooze fest. Can't trust the Nuggets not to implode in the heat of a game 7 vs a team as talented as the Lakers.

Tell me about it! The one who REALLY pisses me off is Odom. The guy is a freak of talent at 6'10", yet he disappears for quarters! They need to stop jacking up so many threes, and start dunking the ball in to Gasol and Bynum more. Odom needs to get on the ball seriously.

Odom has always been hit or miss. Can't teach an old dog new tricks. ;)
But, Bynum needs to show up. He is talented enough to get 20 pts & 13 rebs, with 2 blks a game. The game is playing him, instead of the other way around.
As for Gasol.... he needs to demand the ball more. He likes to defer to others a little too much for a guy with his talent. I know the triangle, it was made for a player like Gasol. The Lakers would be wise to play off of Bynum for te first 3-4 possessions, then play off Gasol in the post thru the rest of the half. (In concert with Kobe's adventures through out the half) Then run thru Bynum to start the half, switch to Gasol once Bynum gets into his normal foul trouble. Then come the 5 minute mark of the 4th.... it's Kobe time.
*During this series, the Lakers are playing through Kobe too much, too early. It's time for Jackson to let these guys sink or swim. Have them play without Kobe being the focal point for the 1st half. Make them bring the A game, or suffer at the hands of the fans, media, & worst of all..... a ticked off Kobe.;)

Rings and wins, that's what counts in the end.
All the numbers in your stats don't account for any other game situations other than time on clock. What about the open shots that occur for lesser players under 24 seconds on the clock when the star is doubled ? What about the number of turnovers in the last minute of a game ? How many charging calls ? How many times did they not even get up a shot ? Numbers can be used to show whatever you need them to. Just juggle them the right way and you can convince yourself of anything.
Denver wasn't going to lose 2 in a row @ home. The Nuggets played well and the Lakers played pretty bad for them. The series is back on track. 2-2. Home court returned to LA after the game 3 win. Denver still has to steal another one from LA in LA.;)

pretty sure Bynum is not 100%. He has been but a shadow of his pre-knee surgery self. he has looked bad, but i have actually been impressed by his playing through the injury. 50% of the normal Bynum has been enough for the Lakers to win, albeit very inconsistently. I think they are hoping he can play his way back into form.
I think Gasol washed my windshield at 1960 and I45 last night. I have no idea how he made it to the game...

Yea. I've been saying since game 1, the Nuggets are good defenders, but they CANNOT stop the Laker bigs one-on-one. Majority of Anderson's blocks come from the help side. When Gasol posts him or Nene up on the block, its almost an automatic basket. Same thing goes for Odom. Hopefully they stick to doing that next game in Denver.

The early post play of Bynum helped Gasol out. With the 9 points in the first half, Bynum let Gasol keep the tank full for the crunch time. Lakers should take game 6 if the Bigs play as well as they did tonight. Denver was looking at the refs to help them out once it was time for the refs to swallow the whistle and let the 2 teams play for control of the series. The Lakers responded, the Nuggets folded.;)

The Nuggets imploded just like we thought they would. When the lights got bright and the stress levels went up..... the Nugs became Thugs. Any team with Kenyon Martin on it should count on that team falling apart on the biggest stage. IMO.:ninja:
