what is everybodys favorite time or part of the game? like when you can feel the intensity in the air, or when you look up and you realize your team just won a big game, etc

Favorite part... opening kickoff... that is when you feel the energy in the air and one of the loudest parts of the game IMO

I agree at Abe Martin when the band plays that goofy song Rock-nRoll Pt 1. And in the 4th qtr when they play "Strivin" when the Pack's leading a close game!

Yeah, that song gets everybody up and clapping though. Whenever its crunch time in the fourth quarter and they play strivin, everybody is up for that too.

i agree with pack4life, when were (slc) about to kick off to the oppostion, and we (the band) start making all that noise to screw up the returner and dragon nation is screaming and cheering, you can definatly feel the intensity in the air

or when we score a TD, or when ortega made that kick, or when the team runs through the dragon helmet with all the smoke and everything

Strivin'...yep that's a good one.
I can remember them playing that one back in the Cauley days.
My sister was on the drill team and I remember asking her what the
words were...hahaha...

I definitely agree with you there. Down in 'the trenches' as I like to call it, with the student body, making as much noise as we can, ready for the kickoff, there's no place I'd rather be. I just love the intensity so much. Also when the Dragons take the field, is a one of my favorite times. Not too used to how it feels after losing ;) , except for the katy game, and that's a feeling I never want to feel again, and hopefully wont anytime soon!

It definitely feels like that. Everyone stands all game with barely any moving, or even breathing room! Gotta love it...

This is a good thread.
I like it when the Katy band marches out during the teams pre-game drills, marches down to the opponents side and blasts the Tiger fight song. A teams band can be more than just musical entertainment.

My favorite part is when ...
there is like 0.7 left and Javorskie is wide open
in the endzone...and they call pass interference on SLC..
either that or the the missed call in the back of the end zone
in '02...did I step on some toes?...sorry
Man that's sad. Based on the above, you've never had a favorite part/time of the game!

My favorite:
1. Pregame, when the teams are warming up and the bands are playing.
2. Opening kickoff
3. 4th QT in a tight hardfought game.
4. After the game when everyone is shaking hands and there is no serious injuries to anyone.

Not sure what you mean by instrumental? Who wrote the music? "Rock-n-Roll Pt. 1" is an old song by Gary Glitter a glam rocker from the '70's. "Strivin" is a Lufkin tradition. Written by a Lufkin band director in the '70's it is usually played by the Panther Band in the last few minutes of the game. It has a very distinctive intro. I assume it is copyrighted because I have actually heard other bands playing it.

When Robert Joseph plants a WR going over the middle.
the ending notes of the national anthem.....usually our guys go crazy right at the end and start getting pumped...you can feel the intensity all the way till the opening kickoff...
