1)Steele
2)Tivy
3)Boerne
4)AH
5)Seguin1!!!
6)Clemens
7) Canyon
8) SM
Steele has a chance to push for state with a top notch RB and a good defense. They need to get some production out of their passing game, though. Don't know if they will.
I think TIVY had some good young players last year and will be right back up there.
My Mats have a chance to be much improved... especially if our QB can keep growing. Not sure we are a playoff team... but i hope it is at least interesting!
Saw SM play last year and they jsut dont seem to execute like the used to. There was a time as a fan where i would sit in the stands and not know where the hell the ball was. Not so much anymore.

Tivy Had some good players last season, but not that many of them were young. Only one guy comes to mind that was young. They graduated a lot of their talent last season. I don't think it is by coincidence that Coach Smith applied for several jobs in the off-season. Also, Tivy's JV was very average. They will not be the same Tivy as last season.

The bottom 3 may fall in a different order. But, The top 3 are in. Spots 4 & 5 will be the toss up. Tradition vs Tradition. Clemens vs Tivy... as in the old days... as it should be. ;)

I've heard that NBC got a heck of a running back that transferred from Judson. If so, they could make a push this year and make the playoffs.
Clemens will be pretty young and will have to mature fast to be a playoff team. I don't know if that will happen starting a soph QB.
I believe Seguin will be much better then last year. If their QB can get it together and learn from all of his mistakes last year, they'll be good!
Boerne will be tough and I'd say is a lock for one of the playoff spots.
AH is, well AH and they'll be right there as well.
KT will start Manziel at QB and the kid is scary talented and could lead them to a really good year.
If Steele finds a QB that can just play mistake free football and get the ball to Sheldon McClain (wideout committed to OU), look out! Then, all he has to do is hand it off to Malcolm Brown! The defense will be better then this year IMO and should keep them in any game so I like their chances to win district, especially if Malcolm stays healthy. I think if a QB emerges that can get the job done and the team comes together they will be a legitimate contender to put a big trophy in the case this year.
I'll take Steele to win the district.
AH, KT, Boerne at 2, 3, & 4 in no particular order with Seguin, NBC, or possibly SC ousting one of those 3 for the 4th spot in the playoffs.
1 Steele
2 Boerne
3 AH
4 KT
5 Seguin
6 SC
7 NBC

With the athletes they will field, a top receiver like Sheldon McClain, a good O line, and a horse at running back I think a QB of average ability could look really, really good!
Their defense may just be the talk of the town if they mold together. The D-line will be hands down the best in the region and one of the best in the State. IMO, at least 2 of them will play D1 ball.
I have several ties to the school including a good friend who coaches there and I've heard that Malcolm Brown is as strong or stronger then all the big O & D linemen! 300 power cling, 350+ bench, 500+ squat =

Yeahhhh. Manziel was the QB from Tivy I was talking about. I think that he will lead them to a solid season out there.

The problem with Steeles passing game is not the athletes, IMO. They probably have really good recievers or at least they look to be really good athletes. IMO, the passing game struggles due to the coaching. It was always that way at Clemens, too. They sit and that I and are really predictable. The coaches need to open up the play book. It is painful to see 8 men in the box and Steele continue to run the ball when they have good looking athlets on the outside.
And Brown is definately one of those rare athletes. Saw him play twice last year and was very impressed with his body and athleticism... and he was just a sophmore now. He has a ton of growing to do.... he will be something else.

1) Canyon will need an O-line.... a secondary...... & an easier schedule to make the playoffs.
2)Clemens is young, but has a good coach, with a long tradition of getting the best from his teams.
3) I mean no disrespect when I say.... The Mats had better hope they get a A+ defense.... because they're going to struggle on offense. I know the family of the QB..... his dad coached @ TR. Let's just say.... if Gerlich (?sp) was still here @ TR, the younger wouldn't be playing, let alone starting. Just an opinion.
4) BC & AH..... I couldn't agree more.
5) Tivy will struggle mightly this season. Yes, they have a QB. But they have NOTHING else. Lost the D1 wide-out, Logan Vick & have to replace 2/3 of the offense. Then on the defensive side of the ball..... they will have to fix a terrible defense from last year with a sub-par JV team. Tivy will be OK, just not a threat to win more than 5 games in district. IMO.
6) Steele... If these kids were still going to Clemens, SC would be the 5A state champs. As it will stand... they will have to settle for 4A champs.:D I really like this team. Plug in a guy that can throw a fade & curl @ QB, you got yourself a Champion.

The offense was much improved towards the end of the season for Seguin... and they didn't really lose much to graduation. So we will see. I hope you are wwrong.
I still don't think Tivy will struggle like you think. Logan Vick was really good but I think Tivy will be able to reload and be a top team.

I couldn't agree with you more. I sat in the stands last year and watched SC battle a much bigger and faster Steele team tough. SC scored the last play of the game to make it a respectable 10 point ball game but Steele really and truly blew several opportunities to score and also allowed 3 of SC's TD drives to continue on 3rd down stops by committing stupid personal fouls.
The talent on the field was tremendous! Had they all still been at SC, there would have been two D1 running backs in the same backfield last year!
If Steele can fill a couple of holes left on their O-line and have a QB step up and do the job, then they will make a really deep run into the playoffs. I know for a fact that these kids would like nothing more then another shot at LT in the playoffs. They feel like they just flat out blew it this past year.
As far as what you said about Ferrara, I couldn't agree with you more. Those kids at Clemens would walk across the coals of hell for that man and for good reason. He'll tear their azzez up when they make mistakes but he'll be the first one to tackle them in celebration when they make a play! Damn good coach!

Steele will need a passing game, LT stop them in the 2nd half because thats all they did was run & the D knew it, that is why Steele was stop with a minute left and went with a FG and didn't make it and LT went 90 yrs to score before the half making it 21-14 Steele. BUT they got a great Defensive back field that bring back all state LBs and players that can and will take the head off anyone crossing the field if anyone went to the Longview game you saw what I mean wide outs going to the side line after dropping the ball...Now committing stupid personal fouls didn't help LBJ,Steele and a host of others because when LT lines up it does not give any team any time to adjust and LTs players are in shape and run to the line with no huddle the other teams start getting tired and thats where the stupid personal fouls come from and blocking them all the way until the whistle blows didn't help when laying on your back and with 3 OL coming back will only help and add to more stupid personal fouls....I also remember the LBJ noseguard pushing the ref and cursing before a snap and the coaches went nuts I was surprised he didn't get kick out but they did pull him out for a few plays...and the LBJ coaches didn't like a lot of things LT was running they didn't think it was fair what a joke complaining after the game about not giving them time to line up and it was fun to watch from the stands...I think I will go watch the LT & Steele game again today .

The district is loaded. Seguin's schedule is nasty. Unless the offense can score 30+ a game.... they will struggle vs the Big 5. (Steele, AH, BC, Clemens, Tivy) I don't see The Mats with enough firepower to overcome the talent @ Steele.(35-10) Not enough defense for AH or BC.(30+ - 13-14) Offense will struggle vs a traditional tough, SC defense & ball control offense. (24-14)Tivy will overpower the The Mats with offense.(something like a 45-34 game) Leaving Seguin lookin in from the outside. IMO.
Tivy will struggle VS a really good defense & be burnt to a cinder VS a good (not great) offense. I can't see them out scoring BC, Steele, or Alamo Heights. Clemens.... it all depends on the growth of the Buffs. Tivy will struggle to win 6 games in district. The JV team struggled last year & Tivy lost alot of Seniors. The talent isn't as deep as years past. IMO.
