I have been battling the Martian Death flu over the last few days and have not had the strength to even make it to my computer. During this time I have drifted in and out of a Nyquil induced coma. Last night I thought the end had finally come. There I was staring down the tunnel with the bright light directly in front of me. I followed the tunnel to the end of the light expecting to find myself standing before The Man. When I finally stepped out the end of the tunnel I found myself on the field of play. Cameras were flashing all around me. I was in the middle of a Purple and Gold feeding frenzy. That's when I saw the trophy with the words Lufkin Panthers 2006 State Champions and then I awoke. At first I thought it was just some sort of strange drug induced hallucination, then I noticed that I was still wearing my lucky Panther shirt.

Throw that Panther shirt away - it has lost its magical powers and has been taken over by an evil spirit. Buy a new shirt for next season.

No man, that was a nightmare.... You don't remember the part about Dodge sitting on the thrown laughing hysterically (as he was providing you with false feelings of accomplishment)!!haha

My lucky shirt is pretty thread bare and has been rescued from the garbage a couple of times already. My wife just doesn't understand that you can't throw out a lucky shirt just because its got a couple of holes in it.;)

True. I'm staring 40 in the face. My 15 yr. old asked me about the 1st Gulf War the other day like it was WW II or something! Geez!

Not true, I was 19 and in college and she was a senior in hs when we started dating. We actually met at one of my classic party's when the parents went out of town. LOL we were also on and off but still called ourselves a couple. She was at SFA while i was in Iowa for 2 years. Young and dumb what do you expect?? ;) I am sure she was not mrs innocent either considering she was a sorority girl. It is something we both do not bring up for obvious reasons. We were not married or engaged back then and were hundreds of miles apart so who cares?

When I was 28 I was riding a bicycle and got run over by a truck.
The happiest I have ever been in my life was when I woke up under that truck - I was alive; I couldn't belive it! No broken bones - just a separated shoulder and a hole punched in my knee. The doctor who looked at me at the V.A. hospital shook his head and said "That is the only place in your knee you could punch a hole that deep and not damage anything."
I was weak and exhausted for an entire year after the accident. One day I woke up and my body was healed, and I was no longer weak and exhausted.
This story even has two high school football tie ins to it. The investigating police officer at my accident was my high school quarterback, Morris Vaughn. Shortly after I got out of the hospital I was at a store and saw the tackle who was the great wrestler on my high school team. He asked me what happened and took me into his house while I heeled up. I baby sat his kids while he worked and his wife went to medical school He got me a job as a painter's helper when I was strong enough to work. His name is Barry Fitzgerald, and I am eternally grateful to him for his help.
Looking back on my life I realize that I am the intelligent version of Forrest Gump. All of these incredible events have happeed to me or around me and I never even thought about them as extraordinary.

I had half of my face cut-off (ear off, eye hanging out past my chin) and broke several ribs and tore chest cartilage after falling a sleep and hitting a tree at approximately 80 mph. They found me on top of my car. The hood was bent and and created a very sharp ridge and that is what got me the worst. (Yes i had been drinking and under other influences that night and was a complete idiot at the time at age 25 fresh out of college) My wife was 8 months pregnant. They thought i was going to bleed to death but i somehow made it. I am just thankful i did not hurt or kill anybody else because i could not have lived with myself if so. I have had 10 plus surgeries since and have a couple of more left. (Almost back to normal besides a droopy right eyelid and a small scar) Yes i have that eye unbelievably. Hopefully i will be completely fixed soon? As crazy as it sounds, It actually was the best thing that ever happened to me. It was a blessing. I turned my life around and became a christian and now i put God, family, and work first. (even though i could definitely do better in the christian department ;) I have had other near death experiences but that was by far the closest. I am sure we all have had a few. Some of these experiences make us better if we are lucky enough to get a 2nd chance. I am just thankful i did get another one.
Only my closest friends and family know these personal details but i just felt like sharing my crazy near death experience with the board. :)

I wouldn't want to pass up the really bad things that have happened in my life either. Good does come out of bad. It is a little sad that God sometimes has to kick us around before we can see him.
Any male who lives to the age of 30 has probably done a number of things that could have killed him. 30 is about the age where males finally start to put enough together to begin to understand life.

Thanks for telling us about that Pack - anyone who goes through life and claims never to have made horrible mistakes is probably a liar. At an Aikido clinic a few years back the sensei asked if any of the 100 people in the room had ever made a horrendous mistake in their lives; every hand went up.
Since almost no one has the courage to talk about the really bad mistakes they have made everyone gets the illusion that those around them are somehow better than they really are.

That is true!! That might be my closest near death experience you are right wide. :D But i think i can top that wide. One day me and Truder were throwing small rocks at the one arm roofer from the other side of the house. Yes i said one arm roofer i swear to God it is true. He was all looking around and we thought we got away with it. Well guess what, he knew we did it and told my dad. Let's just say it was not pretty when he got home from work and it was very close to a near death experience. ;) I think i did every possible thing you could do to our house and yard that week. He worked my butt off after he wore my butt off. Hey wide, remember when we got busted skipping school? That was not good either. I almost lost my razz scooter after that one. HAHA

You don't have to be a man to do stupid things, girls can be just as stupid. I was 17 and my mom just gave me a MG Sedan. I made the mistake of overloading the car with three guys, myself, and my dog. I was driving and lost control of the car (I wasn't used to front-wheel drive) and then preceded to faint. My boyfriend had to grab the steering wheel to prevent the car from hitting a concret culvert on the side of the road and somehow, the car flipped end over end about three times according to witnesses. We all made it out alive - the dog, too - with just cuts and bruises. My mom said the car was so demolished, she wouldn't let me go see it later.

My experience is this ...1st wife nearly drove me to my grave (crabby, crazy and can throw her ashtrays and shoes with accuracy) ... really bad mistake that I regret every day! Life threatening? You bet, I wonder how many years she took off my life with stress and unhappiness but it's my own fault.

my near death experience came when i was like 11... (now im 15..)
i was riding my 4-wheeler at my fluff's house(my grandma) and i somehow got the idea that i was going to do a back flip off of this jump my cousin and i had buillt..so i did...once..and then i wanted to do it again...the second time didnt go over as well and i landed on my head and the doc. said it was a miracle that my neck didnt break...i broke my collar bone..leg...ankel...arm ...alot of toes and fingers...a wrist..and got some stitches...i think like...40 on my leg...yeah..no more back flips for me....hey but the pain medication was pretty cool...you know..i dont remember much of the following weeks...yes at 11 i was a drug head.....lol....it was great...i learned my lesson...a VERY painful lesson

MNDE includes riding my suped up Honda (Don‘t laugh, was built to “run“ with the 900 Kaws of the day);
1. Missing a Cadillac El Dorado! (Pulled out in front of me at “speed”)
2. Missing Camaro! (Coming head on, as I avoided aforementioned Eldo)
3. Missing concrete bridge abutment and road sign!
4. Laid bike over and slide down, about 40 foot grade, below the road
Bike suffered broken oil gauge
I scratched the bottom of one leg (Wearing shorts and tennis shoes. Yea, I know. Dumb!)
Helmet suffered one post accident scratch, after I slammed it down on the pavement. (I crawled up, from down in the ditch to find that the Cadillac didn’t even stop.)
