Kid is pretty fast..
I talked to Texas Tech today," said Raceland (LA) Central Lafourche cornerback Brandon Smith. "I committed to them. They're the biggest offer I've got right now and I'm really excited about going there."
Texas Tech special teams coach Eric Russell recruited Smith for the Red Raiders.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound athlete said that the Red Raiders were drawn to his versatility.
"They said that I'm the kind of player they're looking for," explained Smith. "I'm a cornerback and I play free safety, I can play more than one spot on defense. They like that I'm on special teams and stuff, kickoff returns and kickoffs.
"I'm the type of player they're looking for and they want me real bad. They're really excited."
According to Smith, Texas Tech began showing interest after watching a highlight video that Beau Gaspard, a local Central Lafourche supporter, put together and uploaded to YouTube.

I don't blame ya. Tons of great kids come out of Louisiana every year. I think any school who could have a pipeline set up in Louisiana and take a few of their kids a year would be doing a good thing

According to Lonny, he's doing well to move to Texas and he'll probably be smart enough to not move back!:D

cajun,
You'll be happy to know that Tech currently has 5 offers to kids from your homeland:
Raceland (LA) Central Lafouche CB Brandon Smith
Belle Chase (LA) WR James Wright
Waggaman (LA) Archbishop Shaw DT Elliot Porter
Shreveport (LA) Huntington ATH Jarrett Fobbs
New Orleans (LA) O. Perry Walker CB Urell Johnson
Texas Tech's addition of Eric Russell, who has years of experience recruiting East Texas and Louisiana, to their staff is already paying dividends in the Bayou State.
Through May 19th, the Red Raiders have more offers extended to Louisiana prospects (5) than they have in the last three classes combined (4).

That's good to see...
Jarrett Fobbs is the only one so far with an LSU offer-that could change...
Waggaman (LA) Archbishop Shaw DT Elliot Porter

Archbishop Shaw is now back in 5A this year and back in the Catholic League with Rummel and company....I'll be able to check out Elliot Porter when Rummel plays Shaw...Looks like Porter has picked up some nice offers since last time I checked him out....Florida St, Nebraska, TT, Mississippi St and a host of smaller schools...
New Orleans (LA) O. Perry Walker CB Urell Johnson
OP Walker puts out some good ones...Mike Wallace WR from Ole Miss was an OP kid-got drafted this year...You remember him from the Cotton Bowl, I'm sure..
I'm pretty sure TT will get WR James Wright...Looks like a good fit to me..
