homecoming games should be against rivals it would make the game that much more interesting and spark motivation for the opponnent. you can either be like katy and play a private school in their first 5a game ever... or you can play an equal or better team than you and get respect with the win.

I really think teams play creampuffs for homecoming for a few reasons:

They don't want to ruin a festive atmosphere with a potential loss.

There are a lot of distractions during homecoming week to include players being in the court and it's better to play an easier team.

A better team makes it more special, but it's a lot harder to beat a better team.

Over the past four years we've played McNeil twice on homecoming....and lost both times. They dont beat us any other time, but when they play us on homecoming their out to get us lol. Over the past 4 years we've played McNeil, Austin High, McNeil again, and Stony point. If i'm not mistaken its stony point again.

Maybe I'm just weird but Homecoming is my least favorite game of the year. For one you have all these people who don't come to any other game during the season except for it. Therefore you loads of people who could give two spits about the game itself. They are just there because everyoen else is goign to be there. And then there is the whole half time scene that usually ends up running longer than the normal half time. And as was said when there are players on the court it takes away some of their focus from wha tis really important the game.

Cooper plays San Angelo Central this year and the Homecoming game is usually during the preseason although I remember Cooper playing Permian for Homecoming in 1979 - the year Cooper finally beat Permian for the first time in a long time. The Homecoming opponent, to my knowledge (at Cooper anyway), isn't scheduled. The Homecoming game is set after the schedule is set.

Hasn't lost a district game since September 2003 I believe.

We could have scheduled it for South Grand Prairie or Coppell, but I like how they made it vs. Mac so we can get all the crowd and support we can to hand them a district loss for a change.

Lufkin/Nacogdoches hasn't been a rivalry since Reagan was in office.
I understand it's the oldest rivalry in Texas...but couldn't we get our JV to carry on the tradition of beating the brakes off of them every year. It's not even fun anymore.

J/K! :D Actually, I'm not sure who we have this season for HC. Last year it was Mesquite Horn. It would almost have to be Tyler Lee, judging from our home/away schedule. I need to check...

I remember back in '95 we were eliminated in round 4 of Div. II 14-13 by Lake Highlands. The next season we ended up in the same district with LH, and we scheduled them for our homecoming. It was sweet revenge as we prevailed 24-10, but they ultimately had the last laugh when they eliminated the same John Tyler team that upset us in round 2.

Aldine normally plays a rival like IKE or Nimitz. My senior year we played IKE and won 6-5, as IKE missed a field goal with 16 seconds left. That was the best game. As far as the people coming that don't normally come, when we play IKE the stadium is sold out before Wednesday of that week, no matter if it is Homecoming or not. That is a great rivalry. And Nimitz is starting to show itself as a power in 18-5A too. Aldine ISD still needs to get a handle on Memorial and we will rule the district yet again. I miss the old 21-5A: Aldine, Eisenhower, MacArthur, Nimitz, Humble, Kingwood, Spring and Westfield. That was a district!

Isn't it impossible to play your biggest district rival for homecoming. It can't be both team's homecoming so one team would get to play the rival for homecoming and the other would have to settle for second best.

and whats wrong with the chron doing a story on strake? its a freakin story thats interesting...a private school in the aisd/kisd district...get it...its a story to write about i think 'katy will get no. 1 in 195a' is old to them now, they are not ignoring that fact or saying it wont happen theyre just tired of printing it. you want katy propogda/anti-strake material read the katy times.

Lufkin plays Huntsville this year for homecoming...2 years ago it was aldine ike and last year was nac...we should have had it vs the woodlands for 2 reasons (1. teh game is the last home game this year and 2. it would be more interesting than luf-hunt)
